I had to go back and check my post, I can see the disconnect.
I traded the '91 for the parts. The '84 got sold for $200. Sadly I don't
remember what happened to the $200. I still have both the BMW jack and the lug
wrench although I'm actually thinking it might have been from the BMW. Its
shaped like a crank.

1960 Ford Falcon, so our family had two Fords, the '60 Falcon and a

the mazda Diesel frod used was a knock off of the VW engine.  Only major
difference: mazda reversed the IP and ran it on a separate belt off the
back of the belt driven camshaft.   They were better than the BMW.  The
early frods had a recall for a head gasket.   I did the headgasket
myself at over 100k. At that point, the cylinders looked like new, and
the head was perfectly flat.   The body rusted away but the engine was
still good. I'd say they were as good as a vw Diesel of the era.

The 2.3L Mustang/Tempo engine was directly descended from the 2300
Pinto engine.
The 2.0L Escort/Tempo diesel was a Mazda with a belt drive injection
pump and an aluminum head. Reliable like a BMW aluminum head diesel,
not like an OM601/602/603.

The 2.3l 4spd was a good combo in the older car, had enough grunt to be fairly driveable. IIRC the engine was from Mazda so it was reasonably skookum for a 1980's 4 banger.

Just as well. What do you get when you combine the French and Chrysler?
(sorry) I found a Simca club on FB so I will donate it to them. I gave my
leftover inventory a few years ago to the Society of Automotive Historians
which included ads, manuals etc.
I keep all MB literature.Might have an old land Rover manual here somewhere.
