Why would it?  That thing's rated for what, 50A?  It's _designed_ to deliver
considerable heat... just to someplace other than the input junction!  Even
fire is OK, provided it can't catch and spread.

I'd call it an installation problem.  Nuts not cleaned/secured/torqued 
correctly.

There was not a short or any reason to trip the breaker. It appears the nuts 
were not tight creating resistance/heat. I guess after 10 years it finally 
burned thru. I have to replace the cord and the terminal block as it melted to. 
Had one of the wires hit the ground it would have shorted and tripped.

[MBZ] I think one of my Poos camera has partially died

The one out on the shop the wife said the spot light was going on and off a 
while back when it should not. Battery then started running down to where 
camera would shut off. I think that was partially due to the time of year and 
sun exposure but it’s now built back up to 35%. Today I am noticing when 
viewing the camera the flood light does not come on at all anymore. In 
addition, it no longer seems to register movement at all.  It will view live 
but that appears to be it.

there is no way to contact them directly to set up a buy of their item. The
post and forget, never respond to your "facebook reply that you want to

[MBZ] I think the AC clutch coil on the 99 e300 suddenly died

Yesterday ac was working fine and later in the drive was not cooling. Ended up 
having the red ec light stay on. Pulled codes from panel and it came back with 
AC coil. I reset it and light went off but still no cooling. I will test it 
when I get back home but I think coil might have just died. It is charged and 
shows 6 on the panel reading for pressure which is about what it is when 
compressor not running. 

If it shows bad I will see if I have a good one off another compressor and swap 
them. I have done that before I do believe.

The car is a dead turd unfortunately. Wouldn’t start, CPS issue from what I 
could gather once we put a charged battery in it. Instrument cluster not 
working and had a bunch of random CANBUS codes. Transmission apparently not 
working from what the guy said but scanner would not communicate with it, only 
some code related to instrument cluster.  Maybe somehow the TCM needs the IC to 
work or something.  I don’t know what that was about, it was kinda weird. I 
looked at a few fuses, nothing looked bad. 

Old rear axles in trunk, a new pair of front axles and one new lower (?) 
control arm in there as too. Pimp wheels had low profile tires that were mostly 
flat but had tread. I don’t know why all the axles would be shot. Clear coat 
was in bad shape on half the car but body was fine, interior was so-so but 
would probably clean up. 

Owner was a nice young guy, had some halfass paint shop. After I left he 
offered it for $900, I had told him at that point it was a $300 parts car. I 
told him to put on a new CPS and sent him a vid, at least get the thing running 
then see what someone might offer. 

I felt kinda bad for the guy, he had bought it from a friend earlier in the 
year then a coupla months later the trans appeared to have croaked. Didn’t 
sound like limp mode. I didn’t check the fluid, should have. 

If someone wanted a cheap project that would be the car, if nothing else part 
it out.

probably means conductor plate, I have the parts here to fix it, I've 
gotten good at it after 2 or 3, probably a 3hr job. From the pics it 
looks fairly decent.  I'm taking my scanner and going to check it out 
later on.  Maybe offer him $1200 depending on what codes it is throwing, 
might go to $1500.  I could do without the pimp wheels but for a flip it 
might attract a wider demographic.

Some of those "small items" he mentions are actually a pretty big deal if
you want to restore this car properly.  Cracks in the dash, for example.

A few years ago my dad had one and sold it, I think he got about $3500.  Had 
non-original wrong color seats, but was otherwise solid with no rust. 

This guy paid way too much, but he makes a good point, these are overall under 
valued.
