In all honesty, when I first heard that name fit I thought of someone
having a fit. Which wouldn't actually disqualify it as a decent name, given
its sort of anti-establishment market target. I assume that the chief
meaning of the name is that it will fit your needs.

All in all, it's a good name, I think.

Bad car names? Come on guys, you aren't even scratching the surface.
(I think the real reason Germans use numbers are for the very
translations reasons names bring.)

My List:

Daihatsu Naked - http://www.jama.org/autoTrends/detail.cfm?id=239
(I thought it was DeLorean's that were Naked)

Volugrafo Bimbo - http://www.boogerballs.com/Volugrafo_01.htm
(This one speaks all by itself)

Renault Le Car - http://www.austinev.org/evalbum/048.html
(The Car? Come on Frenchys, you can do better)

Honda Thats - http://www.honda.co.jp/Thats/
(Seriously, Thats the name. Whose on second?)

Honda Monpal - http://www.honda.co.jp/monpal/
(Technically a little scooter - but still)

Suzuki Welfare - http://www.suzuki.co.jp/welfare/index.html
(This is a scooter/wheelchair ... but the name, man, the name)

Suzuki MR Wagon - http://www.suzuki.co.jp/dom4/lineup/mrwagon/
(Yes, the Mister Wagon. I'm sure It's the Emm Are but man that's funny)

The Mitsubishi i - http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/i/index.html
(I guess all the good names were taken.)

The Suzuki Every - http://www.flickr.com/photos/neil_b/36406479/
  (Everyone needs a Suzuki)

This could go on all day, and yes it's the Japanese that obviously
have the most interesting car names.

I think officially they were marketed only as model names like every
other MB until the advent of the /8 Strichacht w114/w115 in 1968.
S-Class wasn't used until the the w116 and the silly notion of
assigning everything a class didn't start until the palace coup in
1994 when the marketing department usurped the engineers. Most names
like Ponton, Adenauer, Pagode, Heckflosse, Gullwing, Mustang, etc
weren't official and/or didn't come into use until after the cars ceased
production.

This site has a great explanation of the history of the Ponton name:

Ah car names. I used to chuckle at the Chevy conversion vans called
Landmark. As in what you don't want to become on the side of the freeway.

What's up with the Kia Sephia?

I think the auto industry is running out of names.

Why start just naming them after cities (as in the Hyundai Tucson?) that
just doesn't flow or make sense. There's nothing about my home town of
Tucson that is reflected in that car.

Remember the minivan called the Montana? State names are another source of
inspiration.

Then you could talk about numbers. Is my Saab 900 that much higher up than
your Mercedes 300? And is the Saab 9000 ten times higher than the 900?

I bet Chrysler is miffed over the Ford 500 (which in my mind imitates the
styling of the 300).

I am waiting for the day they bring out the Redneck, one huge pick up
truck which comes standard with gun racks in the rear window. Of course for
the Ladies there wil be the Cutie pie, special feature in this one is no
warning lights or gauges but comes with a build in phone that automatically
dials the local break down service.

What? Nobody mentioned the Toyota Tacoma? Well, for folks in the PNW,
Tacoma is well known for being really stinky. This was originally caused
by

many pulp mills in the area, and asarco, etc. So, PNWers think Stinky
when they hear/see Toyota Tacoma.

I admit the Dodge Diplomat was a stupid name, but I owned one and I have to say
it was one of the most reliable cars I ever had. The local men in blue here
sure liked them, except for the stiff ride they got the job done

Cadillac Fleetwood Talisman - Is it lucky (or evil)?

Buick Reatta - Did they misspell regatta?

Plymouth Caravelle - just a bad name for another K car

There was an interesting kit that could make a Fiero look a lot like a Ferrari
from a distance. They were a real
bear to get in and out of. The door sill was high and wide as I believe it was
part of the structure of the car. I
remember sitting in one in a dealer showroom and being almost unable to get
back out- and that was long ago when I
was much younger and thinner. I probably couldn't get out now.
