[MOPO] mopo - happy fathers day
hey fathers on mopo - happy fathers day.. of all things Ive ever attempted, being a dad has to have been the most rewarding and yet humbling experience in life. My son will be 25 this year and i cannot believe how lucky i have been to have watched him grow from a infant the hour he was born to this point, Its a incredible journey and any father im sure knows what I am talking about.. especially if you have fatherd multiple Kids.. The intersting part is they teach us much about our own lives as they can be our largest critics and at same time our best advocates. So to any of you that have experienced it... Bravo,,, those that have not well remember you were the child to a man who was also lucky to have fathered you. To those of us that never knew our fathers,,, well there are many many father types that can mentor and show you the same Love as they have a desire to be fathers themselves or You can help a Boy that needs a father and inspire someone. so being a father can be shared by many. Happy fathers Day dads everywhere. best, Tom Visit the MoPo Mailing List Web Site at www.filmfan.com ___ How to UNSUBSCRIBE from the MoPo Mailing List Send a message addressed to: lists...@listserv.american.edu In the BODY of your message type: SIGNOFF MOPO-L The author of this message is solely responsible for its content.
[MOPO] FA: 382 scripts, signed stills, Danish programs, soundtrack CDs, pressbooks, magazines, exhibitor magazines bulk lots end very soon; lots of INCREDIBLE bargains!
Three times *EVERY *week we auction hundreds of items that sell for low, low prices (we actually sell lots and lots of items for $1 and $2, and around half of all that we auction goes for $14 and under (and those are pretty evenly spread between $1 and $14), and our leading 'competitor *NEVER*auctions even *ONE *item for less than *FIFTEEN DOLLARS*, due to their *outrageous* $14 minimum buyers premium). But Sunday's *382 *scripts, signed stills, Danish programs, soundtrack CDs, pressbooks, magazines, exhibitor magazines, and bulk lots, closing *THIS AFTERNOON* (not at night, like our Tuesday and Thursday auctions), on *June 19th*, represent *REALLY* incredible values, and that includes a lot of *really good* items, and yet many of these are currently languishing at low, low, prices! *MAYBE IT'S BECAUSE OUR RECENTLY CONCLUDED MINI/MAJOR AUCTIONS (causing some of the regular Sunday bidders to be forgetting this set of auctions) BUT THE PRICES ON MANY OF THESE ITEMS ARE SO LOW AS TO BE POSITIVELY INSANE!* With just *8* hours to go, these *382 *scripts, signed stills, Danish programs, soundtrack CDs, pressbooks, magazines, exhibitor magazines, and bulk lots include an *INSANE *43 that have no bid at all, a* CRAZY *122 that are $1 each or have no bid, and a *MOUNT EVEREST-LIKE* 173 that are still $3 each and under! *THAT'S RIGHT, AROUND 40% OF THESE ITEMS ** ARE $3 EACH OR UNDER, AND THAT INCLUDES A LOT OF GOOD ITEMS THAT MOST DEALERS WOULD ASK $10, $20 OR MORE FOR!* *Some may say they can't afford to spend money on frivolous items like these right now, but I say you can't afford NOT to, both because many prices are lower than you could possibly imagine, and this opportunity might not pass this way again anytime soon, and also because THESE paper items seem far more likely to hold their value than our paper MONEY which erodes in value with each passing week!** * Here is a list of the current top 40 items: 2x001 LOT OF 5 MELOY BROS. 40X60S '35 - '36 Wife vs Secretary, Petticoat Fever more! 2x075 MOVING PICTURE WORLD exhibitor magazine Sep 28, 1918 best 4-page ad for Romance of Tarzan! 2x073 MOVING PICTURE WORLD exhibitor magazine January 5, 1918 Tarzan of the Apes, Mary Pickford 2x002 LOT OF 99 FOLDED ONE-SHEETS '48 - '89 Don't Go Near the Water, Moby Dick, True Grit more! 2x003 LOT OF 56 FOLDED ONE-SHEETS '48 - '93 Murderers' Row, Cuckoo's Nest AA, 3 Stooges more! 2x068 MOVING PICTURE WORLD exhibitor magazine July 8, 1916 two great Charlie Chaplin ads! 2x080 MOVING PICTURE WORLD exhibitor magazine July 24, 1920 Fairbanks, Pickford, Revenge of Tarzan 2x034 LOT OF 25 PICTUREGOER MAGAZINES '57 lots of the sexiest actresses of that time period! 2x082 MOVING PICTURE WORLD exhibitor magazine August 14, 1920 Mutt Jeff, Pearl White, Mack Swain 2x074 MOVING PICTURE WORLD exhibitor magazine Jan 12, 1918 Fatty Arbuckle, D.W. Re: [MOPO] 5,658,000.00 !!!!!!
I think its great that Debbie has been rewarded for her passion same when a collector cashs in after years of collecting. its the reward of being a good steward.. sure without the marketing and the venue and all you get less.. and remember she has to probably take many of the costs off the top and the commission.. However that Lady has paid her dues and really tried to save the collection from a auction.. they had tried to get funds to open the Museum in Tennesee and had countless meetings with banks and lenders and all.. the Auction was the last ditch effort as they had debt from the Vegas museum and the banks wanted to call in the note... so I just hope after she covers the debt she still ends up with some cash... then thers Uncle sam.. however Debbies at a age where she probably can get that one time exclusion. Ithink its great,,, she was able to save and preserve soe of themost noted costumes in Movie history.. I think the collection was valued at 50 million... the facilty in Tennesee looked like a Giant paddleboat and was a new Build.. the entire park was to have had a nascarmuseum and other attractions.. But thebanks all bailed out as the economy was so bad... She has stressed over this like a year and she was just so tired to keep going on... None of the studios would help or the big guys,, what I hope could happenn is that the buyers could see the wisdom to still Move on with Debbies Dream and locate the items in a actual museum setting so thepublic can share the splendor of Film hoistory..this way the owner of each peiice could get a rental or stipend or tax write off and have it in a safe climate controlled museum enviroment with a staff of archivists attending.. and it could be a cohesive collection... vs,, breaking it up and storing in boxes all over the world... I hope they chroncal the ownership. I remember when they found Burt Lahrs costiume in a trash heap all disintegrating. If you think its just the Visual and historic representation of the memory and the film or start associated and all these items where from the height of the Movie industry and when they had Movie stars... Debbie Reynolds passion and determination has been unequaled by anyone.. she is truly a role model for anyone who has experienced adversity. I respect her and her son Todd very much. They deserve the best for all there dedication to building that collection. here's what I wonder about this auction, the collection, bidders and Hollywood archiving it's history: if so many people were willing to bid up to such heights for some of the contents, why couldn't someone buy exhibit this wonderful collection? you know that many Hollywood big wigs had to have been bidding and the $23million in sales (was that b4 or after BP?) by itself may have almost bought the entire collection (yes folks.. there is more) Visit the MoPo Mailing List Web Site at www.filmfan.com ___ How to UNSUBSCRIBE from the MoPo Mailing List Send a message addressed to: lists...@listserv.american.edu In the BODY of your message type: SIGNOFF MOPO-L The author of this message is solely responsible for its content.

Re: [MOPO] 5,658,000.00 !!!!!!
they had tried to get funding Rich and it was the state of Tennesse that refused ti issue Bonds for the defered Debt,, the debt was from Vegas..former debt the plan was to role it into the new developers loan with addition funding for the museum... however think back 1 year ago... people were not optimistic about the future and so no one would budge.. those with the money were also reluctant and it seemed almost lackluster interest in the items/// well But now since the major interest and sales.. it has more respect.. I am not sure what went wrong.. Debbie and Todd spoke to everyone.. some heavy hitters, I dont have the debt numbers however I hope they can negociate it down or perhaps the ones that bought this could be serving a two Fold mission to invest in it and gain press and a public curiosity then display it as people are always interested to see things that are expensive and untouchable. its interesting how people think... I had a oscar in full view for a time and most people assumed it was a prop when in fact it was real. also we had a table that arthur Miller gave Marilyn and people would come to the shop to get a Glimpse ... movie stars attract interest.
