Re: [MOPO] What's going on with today's Heritage auction

2020-11-23 Thread Tom Martin
what a planet whenMichael Jackson passed i gota call from Johnlandis
sassitant they asked fora megaphone i made..andI think he was in London
UK at thetime//

well theydecied not to order as they needed it overnight shipped.

crazy stuff.. once i got a call for a 16mm film of french connection
from Director Joe Dante..he needed a uncut version print..i was in
shock..if i only knew who called me i would besurprised as many dont
tell you who they are.

so..when Arnold's secretary called me to Order Clapboards while he was
governor..i said yeah right andim Mickey mouse... it was him and to show
what a great guy he was after the job he sent mea signed pic with
theclapboard at the podium...he gave them out to all the Usa
Governors..in all states at the governors conference.

its fun when someone in the industry likes your stuff...why i think we
all do is because we allat one time have heroes in the movies..and art
and music..whenthey give us a high five or show respect it is cool...

so its all about paying it forward so new young people can discover the
history ofthe early creastors, and actors of the business.. i think one
of the older magazine i have is 1913 ofBillie Burke -Glenda on a theater
magazine when she was with Flo Ziegfeld,,,

happy thanksgiving

Tonight i played some cd's like Jazz on mystereo..music heals..

Bill Evans cranked on 4 was like being at a concert witha
steinway..beautiful

next i ll play Duke Ellington .and some Dave Grusan.

happy thanksgiving

theres more to give thanks for then to be sad over

Mopo..movie posters..cinema.music, art. people family and God.nature,,

Casablanca material was incredible, esp. the $384,000 for the
six-sheet, which has come up a few times - but never fetching that
price. (I remember Rudy Franchi showcasing a poster in that format
at a pre-sale preview in L.A. for Christie's 20 years ago.) I also
saw wild prices for Star Wars material - while someone got lucky
getting a nice condition Gilda style B on linen for "just" $24K. -

Re: [MOPO] What's going on with today's Heritage auction

2020-11-23 Thread David Kusumoto
From what I saw, people didn't seem to be holding onto their cash. Casablanca
material was incredible, esp. the $384,000 for the six-sheet, which has come up
a few times - but never fetching that price. (I remember Rudy Franchi
showcasing a poster in that format at a pre-sale preview in L.A. for Christie's
20 years ago.) I also saw wild prices for Star Wars material - while someone
got lucky getting a nice condition Gilda style B on linen for "just" $24K. - d.

Thanks for that explanation, Ira.
I tried responding but sometime MOPO takes longer to post an answer.
Yes 95% of the 900 lots sold for almost $4mm. The best sale in Heritage poster
history.

External Email
Heritage allows you to go into the auction archives and make offers on any item
that has sold previously. They will email the owner and let them know a offer
has been made for XX .Heritage will handle the transaction for a 10% fee.

So I get from time to time offers on the items I have purchased. I have sold
some stuff and not sold others. I have tried to buy some items.

As a buyer you can opt out of this. You can also set a price instead of taking
offers.

So that’s what is going on with that.

As always, I find it fascinating to watch these live auctions……And
from the looks of it, it was quite a successful auction.

Unfortunately I missed the actual auction because of a conflict. But I pulled
up the auction today and there are numerous, maybe even the majority of items,
that did not meet their reserve price. At least that’s how I interpreted The
information posted. It would say the item sold for, and have an amount, but
then have a orange or green box below that says make the seller an offer higher
than, and then it would have a price several thousand dollars more than the
amount that it allegedly sold for. Perhaps Grey could shed some light on this.

People may be holding on to cash.

I got my dream poster tonight for slightly less than the low estimate. While
it's likely the BP, taxes and shipping will bring it up to my target price I
was very happy with the results.

It appeared to be an unbelievably strong auction. Some truly staggering
results.

Congratulations to Grey.

Unfortunately I missed the actual auction because of a conflict. But I
pulled up the auction today and there are numerous, maybe even the
majority of items, that did not meet their reserve price. At least
that’s how I interpreted The information posted. It would say the item
sold for, and have an amount, but then have a orange or green box below
that says make the seller an offer higher than, and then it would have
a price several thousand dollars more than the amount that it allegedly
sold for. Perhaps Grey could shed some light on this.

I got my dream poster tonight for slightly less than the low
estimate. While it's likely the BP, taxes and shipping will bring it
up to my target price I was very happy with the results.

Re: [MOPO] What's going on with today's Heritage auction

2020-11-23 Thread Ira Rubenstein
Heritage allows you to go into the auction archives and make offers on any item
that has sold previously. They will email the owner and let them know a offer
has been made for XX .Heritage will handle the transaction for a 10% fee.

So I get from time to time offers on the items I have purchased. I have sold
some stuff and not sold others. I have tried to buy some items.

As a buyer you can opt out of this. You can also set a price instead of taking
offers.

So that’s what is going on with that.

As always, I find it fascinating to watch these live auctions……And
from the looks of it, it was quite a successful auction.

Yes, you are misunderstanding the site.
The 900 lots in the sale sold all but some 40 lots.
Those are seen under Post Auction Buys
The Make Offer is the system wherein an owner cam receive offers on the items
he bought.
The sale did almost $4mm, our largest grossing sale in Heritage Poster history.
