Hello? Ding dong are you there???

Who was talking about reading things better before writing???
I write for XSW! It already exists! Dah?

I wanted to write after Track stopped, and I chose XSW, not FD.
And I really want to support this new project so yes, indeed, I want to
write for that too.

~Grauw

I did read before reacting. I did read that you write articles for
XSW (see my reply). I did prove my point that you are NOT willing
to write for us, but ARE willing to write for MCCsomething.

PLEASE before this gets out of hand (I said this, you said that,
etc.), read again what I stated in my earlier reply:

Let me state again that this is not a personal vendetta against
anyone or anything (MCCW)! This is just a sad remark that people are
only willing to write down interesting things concerning MSX when
they hear that MCCM will rise from it's grave.

The only reason for posting my messages is to shake people awake.
If people have interesting stuff to write about MSX, they should
not wait until some magazine 'of the old days' raises again (no
offense meant towards MCCM!), they should write it and publish it
(either via internet, mailinglist, newsgroup or (disk)magazine).
The sad thing is that this doesn't happen.

I rest my case (before this gets out of hand).

RE: Authors for MCCW (MSX Computer Club magazine on the Web) wanted!

1999-11-23 Thread Boon, Eric

[About _underline_, *bold* and /italics/]
YUCK! Rule number one: NEVER use underlined! It's an artifact
of typewriters that couldn't write in italics.

Wrong. Rule number one is: _*/NEVER!/*_ (*grin*) use explicit text
formatting.

You could also use TeX-style: Hi, I want a certain word to be
 \emph{emphasized}!

Taht is *much* better: the author indicates that (s)he wants to
emphasize a certain phrase, but leaves the real formatting (bold,
italic, underline, flashing red, caps, whatever) up to the
person/program doing the layout.

  or HTML-alike is also possible:
  Ithis text is italic/I

 Fair enough.

Nope, not fair enough: EMEmphasize/EM is better :-)

obMSX: Work on AMBeR is in progress. I had some trouble with
parsing the cmdline in a DOS version independable way...

Re: Authors for MCCW (MSX Computer Club magazine on the Web) wanted!

1999-11-23 Thread Manuel Bilderbeek

MCCW is still a continuation of MCCM! Sort of. This is just something
 Frank
wants. Don't make that big deal out of it.

Well then please don't talk about NOT having a deadline and NOT publishing
 the articles in one go.
 Pwah.

Why? Because that was not done with MCCM? Well, it HAD to be done with MCCM...
Now we can choose.

   Nah... don't know TeX.

So what? The example was clear, wasn't it! So now you leared one LaTeX
command, and now you can make clear that a certain part of your sentence
 needs
to be emphasized. But if I were you, I'd try to learn some more about
 LaTeX,
because it teaches you a lot about layout, typography and more of these
 things.

Sorry, ain't got Linux and I don't think I will get it in the near future
either (my father doesn't want it).

Who was talking about Linux?
Check for example www.ntg.nl, for TeX for all kinds of platforms. Including
DOS. But hey, I was only talking about the MANUAL of LaTeX and a book of Knuth
(who wrote TeX). Nothing said about Linux.

I know cgi a little bit (actually, Perl), but I'm not getting further than
simple mail-script. Anyway, it's really not that important (yet). First we
  need articles and permanent authors.

Me neither, actually, but something can be done about that!
Anyways, I agree with you, it is of later order. But still it's a very nice
 idea.

Sure!

No no no not at all... That would (ofcourse) be nice too, but that was not
 the idea.
You can't hyperlink to the older magazines, can you? :)

Well, if we put them online in some way... ;-)

So: still one week to go! ;-)

 Way to go!

But: I only recieved one article. And that one needs to be cleaned up first.

  Yup, lots of lamers around...

I don't think this sounds very nice :(
I think it's just a FACT! Ask Frank, if he needed an article from my father
and he didn't get it yet, he called him.

Ofcourse. That is one of the dirty jobs of a chief-editor.

Parallax homepage. It's not important if people check the MCCW only once a
month. Then he still has all articles in one go! (From his point of view!)

Owww... dammit! No, not ALL are like me, but at least some!
I just think it would be way cooler if all articles came at the same time.

But what does Frank think about this?

He proposed the idea of publishing articles when they are finished, with the
same argumentation as I gave.

Nope. Unless you guys out there really start to write!

And then I mean, really, really, really start to write!

Yes, I need them in one week!

More important: getting articles and authors first!

 Hmmm...
 Don't think so.
I mean, why making this sequential? Then we might get trouble with the Von
Neumann-principle. And we wouldn't want that, would we?

Exsqueeze me? Without articles the whole MCCW will not become real.

Nope, I guess not. (Don't think that I do!)

*sigh* again, okay I KNOW Star Wars is a tiny little bit childish sometimes
(I think Anakin is stupid)... But you should definately see it.

I saw it. But I may be stupid.

About Eric's message: he is sooo right. He actually says what I meant to
say... :-) Thanks pal!

Parn's Music Station Updated!

1999-11-23 Thread Pablo Vasques Bravo-Villalba

First, I must apologize for being so
late with updates. I'm very sorry,
but I just can't keep up the rhythm.
Anyway, updates are on the way! :)

Uploaded 208 musics to PMS. Yes,
two-hundred-eight musics! These
are my never-released-before music
disks, with 104 musics each. You
don't need special software to play
these musics, and the only hardware
you'll need is an MSX1 with FM-PAC
(or compatible) and a disk drive.

In a near future, I plan to release
documentation and an interface for
these disks, but since this is not
required to listening the music, I
chose to release them as soon as
possible. :)

This was made possible after MSX
Jau'99 Meeting, to all of you who
enjoy real MSX music. :) Thank you
all who were also in Jau', for all
the support!

Sincerely,
Parn

Well and not only write for FD, but also for the remaining magazines like
for instance XSW-Magazine!! Because when FD reaches #50 they will stop with
their diskmagazine!

~Grauw wrote (Re: Authors for MCCW (MSX Computer Club magazine on the

Excuse me but I haven't got every issue of FD.
And when I am talking about asking for writers, I mean something more
'active' then in the editorial (because in that contect it just looks
like 'muttering' of the main editor). With 'active' I mean send a
message on internet to the Mailinglist explaining that you need more
articles and askin if anyone would be kind enough to write some.

 Hi Folks,

As can be read in a reaction of ~Grauw we have to be more 'active' in
asking people to write for us (the magazine and the internet site aren't
 'active' enough).

The strange thing about this all is that we're not making this magazine
for ourselves (we're surly not making any money from it), but we're
making this magazine for all of YOU out there. Is it strange that we're
a bit disappointed that nobody seems willing to write something for us?

So I will dare ~Grauw here in asking him PERSONALLY to write ANY article
concerning MSX for us. By doing so I hope to prove that people in
general, are just not willing to write articles for us (or any other
 active magazine for that matter).

Please ~Grauw surprise me and write a NEW article for us ;-)

I recommend you to go to my page and take a look NOW!! 8-

- Added a file with all NestorBASIC functions defined as macros for
NestorPreTer.

Cracked Konami's on harddisk (Novaxis SCSI)

1999-11-23 Thread jam

Hello Manuel,

selected couples of 8K pages. When the MegaROM switches the musics
page on, LOADROM take it from reserved couples, so it only have to
do a out (0fx),a instead the LDIR. So, the bigger RAM, the faster
  MegaROM emulation.
 MB
MB Where can I get that version then? I thought I had 1.1... and I have
MB 512kB RAM, which will probably be helpful.

You can get it at Trunks' web site. I can't remember the exact location since
it has been moved. You can find it at www.msx.org developers

Note about versions numbers: when Trunks released the earliers versions
of LOADROM, he made a mistake and named 0.5, 0.6, 0.8, 0.9 as 1.5, 1.6, 1.8,
1.9 ,etc. So v1.0 is the last version he released (I think).
