 to achieve this?

Probably, the easiest way to do that will be to add a bit of a markup.
 Something like (untested)

 \setuplines[after={\blank[small]}] %or after=\smallskip
 \defineframedtext[stanza][width=\textwidth,before=\startlines,after=\stoplines]

 \startstanza

 \stopstanza

\start
\interlinepenalty\plustenthousand
stanze
\par
\stop

 \keeplinestogether{4}

may also work (untested)

Re: [NTG-context] page numbering in words?

2007-04-17 Thread Mojca Miklavec

Hello,

I have just noticed this thread (I cannot really catch up reading all
the stuff here) and remembered that I have some really old files lying
somewhere on my computer.

The file dates back to the time when Brooks Moses Hans have implemented
   \defineconversion [sl] [a] [\sloveniancharacters]
for me, so I needed to make sure that I understood the concept.

I didn't review the content, I have just added a small demo at the end.

On 4/16/07, Robin Kirkham wrote:

Hi all,

There are still a few problems with \numstr when you get beyond the
hundreds. Perhaps this is unlikely when it is a page number, but I
was interested in using this macro for contracts, where an amount of
money is often written out in words.

\input numstr.tex
\starttext
\numstr{-1}\par
\numstr{0}\par
\numstr{101}\par
\numstr{1001}\par
\numstr{101}\par
\numstr{1200021}
\stoptext

This produces output:

null
null
one hundred and one
one thousand one
one millionone
one million two hundred thousand twenty-one

I didn't follow the thread, but the problems might result from the
fact that it was translated from a german counter rather than written
from scratch following some rules.

which should be:

minus one
zero
one hundred and one
one thousand and one
one million and one

My example fails on this one, but I guess that it could be fixed if
you tell me the rule to distinguish the two cases.

one million, two hundred thousand and twenty-one

In English, the tens/units (if not zero) should be preceded by and
if the number exceeds 100 (so 101 is correct in the above output).
This applies whether the tens/units is truly tens/units, or is a
thousands or millions multiplier (12 = one hundred and twenty
thousand).

The use of a comma after millions and sometimes thousands is helpful
but not essential, and it only appears in certain cases. I'll have to
think a bit more about a rule for that!

The use of a hyphen between tens and units (twenty-one) is not
incorrect but is nowadays probably regarded as a little old-fashioned
(but personally, I like it).

Best,

Robin

I have used this page as a source:

Mojca

Note 1: If the functionality/documentation can be polished out nicely,
the core or m-something might be a better place for such a module than
third-party modules. But I guess that Hans would want to split this
into *.mkii and *.mkiv anyway, so I would probably need to write the
lua implementation for it before asking for inclusion ;)

Note 2: there are some switches which would need to be implemented in
a higher level user interface. Note that the German counter might be
useless since I have never finished it.

2007-04-17 Thread Tobias Burnus
Hello,

I have pagesize papersize and use crop marks. What I actually miss is
the possibility to put text (Project name, date/time) outside the page.
Currently, ConTeXt only prints there the colour bars, the page numbers
and the crop marks.

Example:
http://glossary.ippaper.com/default.asp?req=glossary/term/1972catitemid=

As a work around I currently misuse the footer, but I'm afraid that I
will forget to remove it for the final version.

Not by itself. Further down in the log file, you should see something
like this:

system : cont-fmt loaded
(./cont-fmt.tex)
language: patterns en for en loaded (n=1,e=ec,m=ec)
(/opt/tex/texmf-local/tex/context/patterns/lang-us.pat)

language: patterns uk for uk loaded (n=2,e=ec,m=ec)
(/opt/tex/texmf-local/tex/context/patterns/lang-uk.pat)
...

It would be nicer if the earlier message was more like this:

   language: patterns for nl postponed
   language: patterns for fr postponed

because that is what really is going on.

[NTG-context] bib + local global citations

2007-04-17 Thread Tobias Burnus
Hello,

I use bibl-aps which has references of the form [1]. I want to have a
global bib index (\placepublications[criterium=all]), but in two
sections I want to have a local bib index
(\placepublications[criterium=section]) too.

The numbers should not be reseted in between. Currently, I get:

\chapter{somewhere}
[1]...[45]

\chapter
\section{local 1}
[1]...[30] % -- should be 46-76
\placepublication[criterium=section]
   [1]...[76] % -- should be 46-76

\placepublications[criterium=all]
   [1]...[76]

Any idea how to do this?

Re: [NTG-context] Vertical alignment of framed text

2007-04-17 Thread Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky
Hello,

Thank you Wolfgang, but

\defineframed
   [hotkey][offset=4pt,corner=00,location=low]

produces too big frames, while

\defineframed
   [hotkey][height=\lineheight,offset=4pt,corner=00,location=low]

produces nice tight frames but places the text very BELOW the line text.
(Previously the text was too much ABOVE).

If I remove offset then it looks good (on center), except I really want more
right/left spacing (from the inner text to the frame) but less spacing
top/below, so that It resembles a keyboard key.

How to get just center position while keeping the frame tight and more
X-stretched?

 Hi,

 \starttext
Another way to start or stop the device is to use hotkey. If the application
is active (that is, sits on the foreground of your desktop), the hotkey is
{\hotkey{Space}}. If it is not active, then use global hotkey --
 \hotkey{Alt}+\hotkey{Space}.

[NTG-context] Output from texexec

2007-04-17 Thread John R. Culleton
Under TeXLive 2007 version of context when I run even a trivial
program I get reams of output referring to the same typefiles over
and over again. Then I get a little message (in the log file) about
fonts being reset. Then I get messages about the fonts I actually
use. The purpose of compiler messages is to communicate something.
13 iterations of the exact same messages does not increase my store of
knowledge any more than 1 display.

My questions: what purpose does the repetitious listing of all these
typefiles serve and can I suppress it some way? Here is a sample
list:

Hi, Hans

It may be useless, but I really hope I can pass some options to the comment.
e.g., use \comment[color=blue][title]{some contents} will make some
contents blue. So I think we can use /RC instead of /Contents.

Now it's OK for me. I hope there's a more clever way that I don't need

just patch spec-fdf

i changed it here so it will be in the next release
