Re: [Openpbx-dev] G729 Licensing thread
The company I work for (ZettaServe, www.zettaserve.com) has working, though work-in-progress G729a and G729ab codec for OpenPBX (with support and patches for VAD, silence suppression and CNG) This codec is based on IPP 5.1 and is written against trunk. G729a should be suitable for iax2, h323, sip etc. At this time G729ab support is only for SIP. We should be announcing it properly to this list within about a week. But for now preliminary instructions and code can be found at http://www.zettaserve.com/ default.asp?catid=78, the license for the ZettaServe contributions are public domain. Re: [Openpbx-dev] New to OpenPBX development
Last but not least i've a license question. If my company develops an AGI that work with OpenPBX, can we sell it in binary only form or we're forced to provide source code? I hope OpenPBX GPL will apply only to the OpenPBX source code and not also to external code (AGI, EAGI, FAGI, extensions, etc.) GPL state that any code linked with GPL becomes GPL - and has to be open source etc. The exception is if it is a binary, separated project witch functions also without OpenPBX. The rules are set out in the GPL text. GPL is written like a virus license, so you need to take care if you combine it with proprietary, non-open source. AGI/OGI is not touched by GPL unless you link (as in ld) against libraries that are GPL. Using AGI/OGI over TCP or by fork/exec will not invalidate GPL, and is indeed legal, no matter how much you charge for the app :P roy ___ Openpbx-dev mailing list Openpbx-dev@openpbx.org http://lists.openpbx.org/mailman/listinfo/openpbx-dev
Re: [Openpbx-dev] New to OpenPBX development
Legalities aside. If you are happy to use GPL'd code why would you not want your code to be GPL'd? While you are not obligated you might think about what others would think. [Openpbx-dev] The opbx future?
Hi all Lately, there have been some talks about a name change, and some have suggested this to add funding to the project. This is all well, but there has also been talks of someone initiating a takeover for reasons unknown or untold. There were arguments about the lack of stability of trac, and I myself was pretty pissed off for not getting the svn account I was promised. Currently, though, I don't see these problems. Personally, I beleive in this project. We have a pretty stable codebase and enough functionality/features. What we need now, is a open and democratic organization to deal with what should go in and what should not. In case we get funding, a commitee should decide what should be prioritised. We also need guidelines for everything from coding standards to project goals. I beleive this is quite similar to what moc proposed to the list january 24, and this should not be recognised as an opposition to the proposal of his. roy --- I encrypt all my email with ROT-13 - TWICE!
