Re: Looking for a CD utility

2010-12-20 Thread David Bailes
Hi Don,

There's a free version of burnaware which can be used for non-comercial use.
It's a cd/dvd burning program, and it includes the option to display disk info.

You can download the program from the page:
http://www.burnaware.com/downloads.html
There are three download now links on this page, and the first one is for the
free version. When you install it, it tries to install the yahoo toolbar unless
you uncheck something.

After opening the program:
1. on the compilation menu, open the utilities sub menu and choose disk info.
2. A disk info window opens. In this window, there's a disk information tab
which contains a list view which contains various properties, including the
type
of the disk.

David.

original message:
My Windows 7 64-bit machine came with a copy of Nero 9 which is not at all
accessibleas far as I can determine. So I asked about cd burning programs and
installed Express
Burn which was highly recommended. Although I am quite happy with Express Burn,
the program lacks one feature of earlierversions of Nero which I really like.
Specifically, the ability to examine a CDand determine whether it is a cd or
cdrw, or possibly a DVD or DVDRW. So is therea utility out there which will run
on a Windows 7 64-bit machine which will perform
this function? If so, what is it and where can it be found? Thanks. Don Roberts

Hi Bob. I think you can go through the options dialogue and
uncheck

the box which is defaulted to cross fading. If this option is
removed, tracks will not have their volumes faded at the end, so
you

shouldn't lose any vocals. However, I've only been using the
programme for a week or so, so maybe somebody more experienced
will

confirm or contradict this.

And, whilst I'm here, I have my own (more vague) Station
Playlist
question. I'm using Studio Pro on a laptop with one soundcard
and no
mixer. I've enabled my microphone, but either my microphone
settings,

input/output settings or monitoring settings are faulty. When I
toggle the mic on I can't hear anything in my headphones. When
I
toggle the mic off again I hear my vocals for about half a
second

before it goes quiet again. I know this is quite a wide-ranging
question, but can anybody please advise on which setting might
be
wrong? I've read the help information which relates to the
settings
but I'm horribly confused with all of the input mixers and
output

mixers etc (especially as I'm not using a mixer at all).

Sorry for the basic question, but any help will be appreciated.

Yes you can. 1. Record your verbal greeting. 2. Move it from
your

Olympus
to your PC (you don't have to do this so long as you keep your
Olympus
connected to the PC throughout the process). 3. Launch Gold
Wave and

open
the music file you wish to use. 4. Now with Gold Wave open the
greeting
you recorded. 5. While in this file do a control+A to select
all the

file
then control+C to copy to the clipboard. 6. Press control+tab
to take

you
to the music file you already opened. 7. Press ALT and arrow
right to

edit
and then go down until you come to Mix and press enter. 8. You
will now
land on the part where you decide at what point you want the mix
to

start.
It starts with hours then minutes then seconds and finally
fractions of

a
second. 9. Once you have decided where you want the mix to
begin press

the
tab key once and then the space bar to hear a preview. 10. If
you are
happy with the preview, tab to OK and press the space bar then
save your

file and that's it done. Walter.

items are too
close together. This setting which I presume is the default
setting would
 be
good for music stations, as you can move from one song to
another with a
smooth transition, unfortunately it does not work well for
voice, as some
 of
the items get clipped. Is there a way around this?
 Thanks in advance

Yes you can. 1. Record your verbal greeting. 2. Move it
from
your
 Olympus
to your PC (you don't have to do this so long as you keep your
Olympus
connected to the PC throughout the process). 3. Launch Gold
Wave and
 open
the music file you wish to use. 4. Now with Gold Wave open
the
 greeting
you recorded. 5. While in this file do a control+A to select
all the
 file
then control+C to copy to the clipboard. 6. Press control+tab
to take
 you
to the music file you already opened. 7. Press ALT and arrow
right to
 edit
and then go down until you come to Mix and press enter. 8.
You
will now
land on the part where you decide at what point you want the
mix
to
Walter.

control m also starts the mix control.
if the file you are mixing is too loud or too soft you can adjust it while
you preview.

Ok, I don't own a mixer at this time, but I'd like to record a greeting
 and
then place some music under it. Can this be done with Goldwave? Last
 time
I did this we just recorded on the Olympus while standing near a speaker,
but it sounded like it. lol

 Thanks.

Re: Looking for a CD utility

Hello David,

Thank you so much for this information. I just downloaded the file and
will install it later today. From your description, it is precisely
what I am looking for. Again, many thanks.

In this window, there's a disk information tab
which contains a list view which contains various properties, including the type
of the disk.

the program lacks one feature of earlierversions of Nero which I really like.
Specifically, the ability to examine a CDand determine whether it is a cd or
cdrw, or possibly a DVD or DVDRW. So is therea utility out there which will run
on a Windows 7 64-bit machine which will perform
this function? If so, what is it and where can it be found? Thanks. Don Roberts

Problem with Winamp Version 5.6.0.3091 AACPlus Audio Files

2010-12-20 Thread Dana S. Leslie
When I play AACPlus audio files that I have ripped from CD using Winamp
Version 5.6.0.3091 (the latest version, I believe), I get a fluttering
clicking sound in the playback. I do not have this problem when I use
Realplayer (the only other player I have that plays AACPlus), and I do not
have the problem with MP3 or M4A audio files; nor did I have it using the
previous version of Winamp.

Is this a known problem; is it being addressed? I'd like to avoid rolling
back my version of Winamp, if at all possible.

Thank you.

RE: Looking for a CD utility

2010-12-20 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi.

I downloaded Burnaware, and I really like the interface. It gives me all
the information I need. There's one problem, though. I can't burn a CD
with it. Windows 7 64 bit tells me that there's a problem with the program,
and I need to close it. I end up rebooting my computer so I can get the now
ruined CD out of my drive.

Anybody know of a good CD burning program that isn't too difficult to use?

Thanks in advance.

Hi folks.

I found another accessible audio books website it's called
http://www.weread4you.comwww.weread4you.com

No plans, no contracts, just register and buy audio books even listen to them
online and or you can download then transfer to your mp3 player, ipod, iphone,
computer, usb stick and so on.

When you sign up which is fully accessible and there are no images, if you sign
up now, you get one free book called the chimes by charles dickens.

The site has a fantastic collection of books with links which also take you to
popular audio book publishers.

I highly recommend the Peter Pan book it's one of their best recordings of
Peter Pan I've ever heard.

The site contains mostly classics but it's a really good site.

You can search by best sellers, authors, titles etc and the search function is
fully accessible.

The online media player is also fully accessible and you can add books to your
wish list to buy later.

All the usual payment methods are accepted and all of these are fully
accessible.
