I use my Pen Friend for marking my CDS. No braille is shallow enough to play in any computer or CD player that I have found. I still use my braille lable maker to mark the sleave that holds the CD. Vicki, Are you familiar with the CD stomper? It is a device which comes with square CD labels which are perforated in such a way that you can put them in a Perkins or a slate to write the braille and then remove the corners via the perforations leaving a circular label which is exactly the size of a CD. You then place the CD on a circular platform after first placing the adhesive side of the label face up. You then just press the top side of the CD against the adhesive, and you have a thin but very legible braille label on your CD. I used this thing for years and have never had the adhesive cause an issue. I do agree with your note that adhesives at least some of them will cause problems. I would copy all the directories since it has nodate/time stamp -- all the files seem to be dated in 1979. I use it all the time, you have to watch that when you order labels a second time, you order a differentletter otherwise you will get the same numbers, otherwise its fine. What model of iPhone are you using Digit-Eyes on? I’m curious as to whether it may be quicker on the iPhone 6 and IOS 8, I have to admit that Digit-Eyes is not one of those Apps I use each and every day though it does come into its own when I do need to use it. I can’t comment on the labeled as I don’t have one though I’m now in two minds as to whether it might be worth getting one or not and I appreciate the input from others on this topic, the talking Barcode Reader has also been referred to and its also available. Gary Ray here. I have had a Pen Friend for a number of years. I use mine regularly. Sometimes it does feel a bit cumbersome, but it is like anything else...if you want to use it, you will use it. I have a 6+, but I used digit-eyes on a 5 and by the time you positioned the camera properly, etc. it could take some time and sometimes I could not get it to see the label, and the specialized devices work immediately, so this is why I use them instead. Thanks, some people unfortunately just have built-in prejudices/bias or just like holding a grudge smile I’ve never seen this item before so am greatly impressed by the amount of input given by other users of the labelling device, they’re cheap enough and its always handy to have a backup “stand-Alone” device. Others have pointed out that performance of the labeled may be better than what I already have? If so then that speaks volumes. I have a talking bardcode reader which is far better. This also has provfision to make and store labels for items which it cannot find in the database which is constantly updated. Yep, Digit-Eyes does much the same thing, I use Digit-Eyes to get accurate CD Database information but that’s beside the point as we’re talking about audio labels smile. You can download settings from the Digit-Eyes web site, load them into your word processor, write out the labels you want, print them and stick them where you need them, you then scan the appropriate label and record your message - yep each label is a barcode obviously and I think - correct me if I’m wrong - that the Panfried works in a similar way to Digit-eyes and what Andrea’s talking about.
