Re: Lightroom interruptus
Just a suggestion - rather than trying to complete the catalog import, maybe try the following steps: a. copy the remaining image files to where you want them to be. (via OS, not LR) b. In LR, import from disc. c. Then import from catalog (or catalogue depending on your flavour of LR), but choose to not reimport any images. I.e., split the copy, import-images-into-catalog, and catalog-info-import into three steps. stan On May 26, 2010, at 9:05 PM, Rob Studdert wrote: > On 27/05/2010, Bob W wrote: > >> yes & no. RE: What to charge to photograph a party?
From: Larry Colen Some friends stopped by when driving through town last night and we grabbed a bite at the local taqueria. I was showing them my 'best of' folder of prints and someone else there asked if I'd be interested in a job shooting an event, I think it was his parents 50th anniversary. Assuming that the scheduling worked, I don't even know what order of magnitude to charge. If it's a 3 hour affair, that's easily 6 hours of work, so I could see people charging anywhere from $150 to $1200 for that. I figure a $1000.00 DAY RATE; DAY = 8 hrs; $500.00 - HALF DAY = 4 hrs. Additional hours @ $125.00/hr beyond HALF DAY, until you get beyond 8 hrs, then you should be charging time & a half, but call it $185.00/hr ... unless you really want to discourage going overtime, then charge $200.00/hr. Figure $150.00/hour for LESS than half a day. Three hours would be $450.00 ... they might opt for HALF DAY. Charge according to how many hours you're going to be on site, actually in there shooting. The time you spend on post production comes out of your over-head. Consider that an incentive to get it right in camera so you don't have to spend hours in post production. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

My head is spinning ann Hi Ann, The car was parked on a road in front of some trees. I shot it with the DA*60-250 at f5.6, 1/250th, with a B&W circular polarizer on the lens, adjusted to eliminate most reflections in the sheetmetal. After converting it, I outlined the car with the pen tool, then selected it with a 2 pixel feather. I inverted the selection and applied a motion blur to the background. Then I retouched any edges where I saw any artifacts from the selection process. I also had to eliminate some ghosting in front of the car. The PhotoShop tool seems to ghost a bit fore and aft. Once I was happy with the basic background blur, I selected the areas that could be seen through the windows and blurred them the same amount. Next, I did the reflections in the windshield, changing the direction of the motion blur to conform to the slant of the glass. I did something similar to the reflections in the roof. Finally, I selected the shape of each tire with the pen tool and applied a radial blur. Voila! High-speed pan. paul stenquist wrote: Thanks for that. I suspect that this is the issue, in the case of no DHCP server available the TCP/IP settings would have to be temporarily set manually. You could get away setting only the IP address and Subnet mask fields on the network setting for the two computers. Set the IP addresses one different in the fourth octet, ie 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2 and set the Subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 I assume that you've achieved what you set out to do by this stage but at least if a similar problem arises you will have less cause to have to ear bash a tech ;-) -- Rob Studdert (Digital Image Studio) Tel: +61-418-166-870 UTC +10 Hours Gmail, eBay, Skype, Twitter, Facebook, Picasa: distudio -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
