Re: Computer upgrade two step.
I once got it combined with some choice words to startup in safe mode with F8 at boot. The thing is the window is so small it is almost impossible to really to hit it at the right time. If anything it should have been left in testing a little longer. A lot of the problems I got caught up with were certainly driver related and once they solved some of the legacy driver issues I really haven't had any problems. The newer builds seems a bit more reliable overall too. I'm also on the slow testing ring, but I see no real reason to be on the bleeding edge anymore. A lot of my initial frustrations have all been rectified. On Sun, Dec 11, 2016 at 10:54 PM, John Franciswrote: > > That's my experience as well. Re: Computer upgrade two step.
That's my experience as well. It ran much better on our 4GB systems than W7 - it was even quite usable on the oldest (dual celeron processor) box. There are things to dislike about it - there's no easy way to force it to boot into safe mode if you can't get through the initial boot sequence, to name but one - but overall I find it to be an improvement. This is my first foray into the world of diesel engines. I expect there are a few people on the list that have more experience with the things. My questions all revolve around cold weather starting. What is considered cold for a Diesel? Too many variables for that to have an easy answer. There are winter and summer grades of fuel. If there aren't many diesels around there, you could have picked up a tank of summer grade from a slow moving supplier. Should plugging in the block heater make a difference? Yes. There are variations in block heaters, too. Maybe your vehicle has one designed for higher temps than yours, fitted to keep the production line running. Is it plugged in all night? Can glow plugs be flakey? Yes but not until you've done a considerable mileage. I'd be more inclined to suspect the power feed, or even the software control of them in such a new vehicle. It's not all that cold here right now. Anything below about -16ºC is an issue for this truck. This morning was -27ºC, and it took multiple attempts to get it running. Starting is completely automatic, the only control the driver has in this regard is a PHD button that initiates the start cycle. After that, it's up to the truck. I like the truck, but if I need to go out and start it and warm it up every 5-6 hours during the cold months, it is not going to be a pleasant vehicle to own. They say don't idle it for extended periods because of the particulate filters, and if it is idled to much, it goes into perpetual regeneration of the filter, which means it's dumping raw fuel into the exhaust to burn off the soot. This drops gas mileage to about 60l/100km. One it is running, it is a joy to drive. Dead right about the filters. DPF equipped vehicles need to be run on longer journeys, mostly, with regular vigorous use to keep the filters working well. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Actually, Paul; The standars for emissions have been phased in gradually, in "tiers". There's been a strong push from the car mfgs, starting at least a decade ago, to make authorities in both the EU, USA, Japan and others harmonise the timing of the phase-in. There's no more "banning" in the US than elsewhere, so sales drops are more likely due to other factors such as customer preference or market-regulating import tariffs. She's a discerning reader though. That small collection includes the rare 8-volume "Baroness" pulp series. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Baroness_(novels) I grabbed just enough books from a shelf at home to give the impression of bookshelves there. I first had to clear all the studio shelves of grip gear, gaff tape and assorted junk to neaten my set. Re: Computer upgrade two step.
If you have a spyder 2 you will be well served by a newer colorimeter. I would highly suggest a Colormunki Display as its the most accurate out of all of them right now and half what the i1 that uses the same sensor costs. Paired with displaycal it will give you a very accurate profile. Side note: if you have a legitimate windows 7 key you can still upgrade to windows 10. Google windows 10 accesibility upgrade. Just pretend you are deaf or blind for a day and do it. Windows 10 is a pretty big leap in performance over Windows 7. I don't know how much ram you have but 8GB is a pretty good number to start with if you are running the newer lightroom. 16-32 is a lot better I must say. On Sun, Dec 11, 2016 at 1:18 PM, P. J. Re: PESO: Family Portrait
Interesting observation! This is the Pentax list, so to me the outlier was the M2 because it is not a Pentax (lovely camera though). I replied to Bill's comment that it is the daddy of them all because (depending on how you define 'family') Leica is the ancestor of all 35mm cameras, and the Pentaxes are all in the line of descent, even the digital one. Perhaps I should have said 'great-uncle'. > On 11 Dec 2016, at 15:12, Stanley Halpinwrote: > > >> On Dec 11, 2016, at 1:59 AM, Malcolm Smith wrote: >> >> Stanley Halpin wrote: >> >> http://photos.stanhalpin.com/p155717848/e70e0fc7 >> + >> >> Very nice. >> >> Malcolm >> > > Thanks Malcolm. > > I must say I am intrigued by the responses from Bill, Bob W, and Alan. > Reminded me of a sub-section of a multivariate-analysis statistics course I > took many decades ago. Having used diesel buses for 9 years answer is, it varies on the engine. I found Internationals and Cat engines would start in -15 or so with out trouble, Mercedes engines had to be helped along. Older Internationals needed to be plugeed in around -5 or so. > Should plugging in the block heater make a difference? Yes plug it in. > Can glow plugs be flakey? Yes they can be flaky, our rule of thub was to cycle the glow plugs at least 3-4 times before attempting to start iyt when it got to -5 or so with out a plug in. Yes Wabasto heaters in the newer Internationals and Thomas built buses are a god send but they break down a lot. I ran mine off a timer set 30 min before i arrived at the bus. OT Prints
I seem to be having trouble with printing from LR to my Epson 2400 again after the OS upgrade. It seems to only want to print 8x10 for some reason. I have tried picking the 5x7 mode but it wants to print larger for some reason. Print diolouge box had 8x10 as preset for some reason, i rest to default, no luck.I believe i downloaded the Epson updates so i may have to look into that. Minor frustrations obviously.:-) Dave -- Documenting Life in Rural Ontario. www.caughtinmotion.com http://brooksinthecountry.blogspot.com/ York Region, Ontario, Canada -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
