Re: PESO - more elaborate in isolation - DougB

2020-05-15 Thread Godfrey DiGiorgi
Nice photo, Doug!

Not to put too fine an edge on it, but if you want to discuss Doug's lovely
photograph, please change the subject of the thread when you respond. I track
and auto-filter all the responses to posts about photos I've offered for
viewing based on subject, and now I have more than ten posts that have nothing
to do with anything I have posted. It's good netiquette to change the subject
when the focus of the conversation has moved away from the original intent.

Thanks!

G

I ask3ed myself that same question, so I looked at a couple of lenses,
their DOF marks all start at f4. It won't be slower than f/4.

A guy on Pentax forums has found a clever way to figure out how big it is.
He figures:

Changing the zoom on my monitor, to get the mount the same size as a
physical K mount...

90mm from the lens base (not including the mount) to the top of the hood.
75mm at the widest part of the barrel, where the hood starts.
72mm at the focus ring.
68mm at the 'aperture ring'.
I also concur with the earlier measurement of 67mm for the filter size.

That means that it is at least f/4. I have several lenses that don’t bother

If they are fully buying into the Limited cult, it will be an oddball

possible they will get it closer to f2.8.
Remember, the Limited lenses aren't about speed, they are about being
little jewelry lenses with "special" optical properties.
The D FA* lenses are the ones that are all about big apertures and who

I also hate the integrated lens shade :(
The front element looks too small for it to be a 2.8 (I have the FA
20mm f/2.8) so I'm betting it'll be f/4.0

Re: PESO 2020 - 108-113 - GDG

2020-05-15 Thread Godfrey DiGiorgi
Hi Bob,

The tire pump in this photo is the Lezyne Micro Floor Drive HV model, rated for
up to 90psi required output:
https://ride.lezyne.com/collections/hand-pumps-high-volume-trail/products/1-mp-mfdr-v204hv

It's a very high quality pump, handles both Schrader and Presta tire valves,
and is light/small enough to carry on the bicycle all the time either on its
supplied frame mounting bracket or in a frame-mounted pump bag (it just fits
into the B-RAD pump bag). It's about 30cm long and 6.5cm across its widest
part. I tested its efficacy by deflating my front tire completely and filling
it up … took me about five minutes to achieve 26psi on a 16x4.00 tire. It's
nice to have this one on the bicycle for my usual riding because it is light,
easy to carry, and I can not only inflate my own tires if the need arises, but
I can be of help to other cyclists with mountain/gravel/road/electric-assist
bikes that don't require ultra high tire pressure.

A better pump for my bike's tires, however, is the Lezyne Micro Floor Drive XL
model:
https://ride.lezyne.com/collections/hand-pumps-high-volume-trail/products/1-mp-mfdr-xl-v104

You can see from the website photo that this one's pumping cylinder is about
20% larger than the HV model. It is rated for up to 35psi required output.
Doing the same test with this pump, I was able to achieve 26psi in less than
three minutes with much less effort. The XL pump is about 1.5cm longer and
about 2cm larger at its widest, weighs a bit more, and is best carried in a
backpack or bicycle pannier rather than in a frame bag. Due to the much lower
pressure output spec, it's best for fat bikes and other tires with lower
pressure requirements.

Both pumps are typical Lezyne quality: beautiful machining work, completely
rebuildable with easy parts availability, light, and easy to use. The fitting
chuck is a particularly clever design and makes these pumps very easy to use.

Probably more info than you wanted to know, eh? :)

As it's billed as an APS-C flagship I'd guesss the sensor size is known.
Improved AF is definitely a plus. As I'm still currently using a K5 it
would definitely have a better sensor than what I have.

Dedicated battery grip isn't really surprising; It's rare for the same
battery grip to be used on two significantly different camera models.

Re: PESO: Homeless

2020-05-15 Thread Daniel J. Matyola
When I lived in NC, a beautiful cat showed up at our door, crying
constantly. We gave it some water, then some milk, then some canned tuna.
I kept returning for 5 days, and we decided it was time to buy some cat
food. one sniff of the cat food, and it disappeared, never to return again.

Later we learned it had played this game with most of our neighbors.

What a beauty.

Give her time. She'll come round sooner or later.

This feral Siamese-cross cat, clearly abandoned for some time, is slowly
becoming re-domesticated. A supply of free food seems to be doing the
trick. I can now pick her up but she doesn't stay for long & prefers to
be outside. Maybe she will change her mind when cooler weather arrives?

In summary: an improved viewfinder, improved AF and a dedicated battery
grip.

Nothing about the backpanel.
Nothing about sensor size.
Delivery by the end of this year.
