They
are all going this way. I had a look at the newest Nikon bridge camera
yesterday. To say it sucks is being kind to it.

I'm on the verge of buying a Q7, but I'm doing my best to wait for
Photokina just in case they come out with a new one. They've put out a
new model every year so far, so it's certainly a possibility.

A Q camera wouldn't replace my K-5, but it could certainly be a lot of
fun. I could adapt both my K and Auto 110 lenses to it. My K 500mm
would be some kind of ridiculous telescope with the Q's crop factor,
and I could even get it in black and yellow, to match my car. ;D

I have the original Q as well as the K-5. The Q is a lot of fun but
difficult to use outdoors in strong sunlight. I'm not sure I'd go for
another Q even if they produce one with a viewfinder - I really want a
mirrorless with a large sensor.

The reason for branding it Pentax is explained in a sentence in the
international press release: 'It boasts a stylish, high-grade design
resembling PENTAX-brand SLR cameras.'
So it has to resemble a Pentax DSLR, hence the Pentax name on top of other
details.

Sorry to be rude, but high grade design with crappy 20 pix
viewfinder and no RAW... really?
Pentax X-5 was announced approximately two years ago and I don't see
much (if any) improvements except longer zoom.

X-5 is currently 179 eur in Estonia, XG-1 price is announced 299 eur.

Consider cutting off the first six inches and developing that first. It should

If external shape is what makes an SLR, then it makes sense to sell this ...

Possibly of little interest to most of us but with Photokina just
around the corner, I wonder what else we can expect in the next couple
of months?

It's a bit soon to replace the K-3 and I'm not expecting the mythical
full frame to appear. What I'd really like to see is a large sensor
mirrorless - m43 or aps-C, I don't really care - provided it has a
viewfinder and a short lens to sensor distance (unlike the K-01).
That's certainly something that would interest me.
