Quoting John Celio neo.venator.com+p...@gmail.com: I'm on the verge of buying a Q7, but I'm doing my best to wait for Photokina just in case they come out with a new one. They've put out a new model every year so far, so it's certainly a possibility. A Q camera wouldn't replace my K-5, but it could certainly be a lot of fun. I could adapt both my K and Auto 110 lenses to it. My K 500mm would be some kind of ridiculous telescope with the Q's crop factor, and I could even get it in black and yellow, to match my car. ;D I have the original Q as well as the K-5. The Q is a lot of fun but difficult to use outdoors in strong sunlight. I'm not sure I'd go for another Q even if they produce one with a viewfinder - I really want a mirrorless with a large sensor. -- Cheers Brian ++ Brian Walters Western Sydney Australia http://lyons-ryan.org/southernlight/ -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

The reason for branding it Pentax is explained in a sentence in the international press release: 'It boasts a stylish, high-grade design resembling PENTAX-brand SLR cameras.' So it has to resemble a Pentax DSLR, hence the Pentax name on top of other details. Re: New Pentax bridge camera: XG-1
Sorry to be rude, but high grade design with crappy 20 pix viewfinder and no RAW... really? Pentax X-5 was announced approximately two years ago and I don't see much (if any) improvements except longer zoom. X-5 is currently 179 eur in Estonia, XG-1 price is announced 299 eur. Possibly of little interest to most of us but with Photokina just around the corner, I wonder what else we can expect in the next couple of months? It's a bit soon to replace the K-3 and I'm not expecting the mythical full frame to appear. What I'd really like to see is a large sensor mirrorless - m43 or aps-C, I don't really care - provided it has a viewfinder and a short lens to sensor distance (unlike the K-01). That's certainly something that would interest me. -- Cheers Brian ++ Brian Walters Western Sydney Australia http://lyons-ryan.org/southernlight/ -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
