Re: Unclogging printer head
Thanks for the advice, I'll see if I can find some time to look at Vuescan again. It was a long time ago but I think my issue was that it may have been applying incorrect gamma curves to each channel, or something like that. Perhaps it related to a film-type setting. Whatever it was, I could just never get the colours right in Photoshop. If I can figure that out it'll make things a lot easier. I’ve been using a 2880 without a single clogging incident fir years. Bought it when it was first introduced. In recent years I’ve probably made only one print a month or so but it keeps chugging along. I use only Epson ink and buy it from Atlex or Epson, never off store shelves. I don’t if any of that matters, but I suspect fresh ink is a factor. I used to have a lightly used Epson Stylus Photo R2880 Inkjet Printer which was neglected for years (totally unattended with the ink set mounted). Tried everything I might and failed to make the head sing again. I had to leave it on top of an electronic garbage pile. Now I have a lower spec model (L805) and try to keep it happy by turning it on (even when nothing is to be printed) every now and then. Re: Unclogging printer head
This guy has a couple videos that seem to be pretty helpful for unclogging heads. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRZU1_XD7xE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoREA1GMpD4 -p On 2/15/2021 10:11 PM, David Mann wrote: Hi all, I finally got tired of seeing my printer (Epson 2100, aka 2200) still wrapped up since it went into storage for our earthquake repairs 7 years ago. Unclogging printer head
Hi all, I finally got tired of seeing my printer (Epson 2100, aka 2200) still wrapped up since it went into storage for our earthquake repairs 7 years ago. I plugged it in, gave the ink cartridges a bit of a shake and ran a few cleaning cycles and I'm currently at the point where only the magenta is still clogged, presumably because that cartridge was empty (luckily I had a replacement on-hand). I'm actually amazed it's come this far. Does anyone have any tips to try and unclog it? I've tried putting a bit of paper towel soaked with isopropyl alcohol under the head but it hasn't made much difference. I'm not even sure I can still get replacement inks for it so I may be wasting my time, but it would be nice to get it running again.
