[pgadmin-support] Problem createing table with citext

2016-10-18 Thread Johann Spies
When I try to create a table using the gui, it generates this definition
which fails:

CREATE TABLE o.r_url
(
id bigserial NOT NULL,
orc character varying(19) NOT NULL,
ex_id_com_name "public.citext",
ex_id_ref "public.citext",
ex_id_url "public.citext",
PRIMARY KEY (orc)
)
WITH (
OIDS = FALSE
)

After removing the quotes from "public.citext" the query succedds when
run in the querytool or in psql.

Apologies. I did not see the Reply-To address was not the list.

Another apology. I did not see that and just assumed the same category
as was used by pgadmin3.

Thanks.

[pgadmin-support] Object browser does not show all views

2016-10-14 Thread Johann Spies
pgAdmin4 on Debian testing.

Postgresql 9.5 on the backend.

There are 36 views in one schema. The object browser only shows the
last 9 and states that there are 9 views.

How can I be sure that the browser shows everything else?

Just a guess: try setting the shell variable (bash?) like this:

PROXY=http://someproxy.somewhere.org:3128

and then run pip.

Try "pip-install Flask" and if necessary other Flask-related packages.

I have

$ pip list | grep Flask
Flask (0.11.1)
Flask-Babel (0.11.1)
Flask-Gravatar (0.4.2)
Flask-Login (0.3.2)
Flask-Mail (0.9.1)
Flask-Principal (0.4.0)
Flask-Security (1.7.5)
Flask-SQLAlchemy (2.1)
Flask-WTF (0.12)

but I don't know whether all if it is necessary.

Johann

[pgadmin-support] Further feedback

2016-10-12 Thread Johann Spies
Further feedback:

I just had a problem with csv created by pgAdmin4 as a result of a query
yesterday:

It resulted in a misformed csv: The file should have had 273966 rows and
had 273829. Some rows (108) did not end with a linefeed and the next
row was appended.

The same query (and export) on pgAdmin3 worked correctly.

Also: pgAdmin4 segfaulted while exporting the same query today.

[pgadmin-support] Feedback on pgAdmin4

2016-10-12 Thread Johann Spies
Thank you for developing what is supposed to be an improvement on
pgAdmin3 which was often unstable.

After using pgAdmin4 on Debian testing/sid here are a few observations:

* The installation is a bit of a pain the neck without a Debian package.

* The Dashboard is impressive.

* While running a long-running query I miss the time-elapsed indicator
 on pgAdmin3. The javascript-screen with the running wheel does not
 impress me.

* Usage of the query tool is frustrating:

  * When I try to open an existing sql-script with the file browser
there is now way I can type in the path. The field where the path
is shown is greyed out.

  * Unlike pgAdmin3 it does not keep a history of "recent files" or
  "recent locations" and goes back to /. To get to something like
'/home/js/db_docs/sql/projects/collaboration'  from there using the
mouse requires too many clicks.

  * When I arrive at '/home/js/db_docs/sql/projects/collaboration'  the
filenames are shortened and the only way to see what the full name
is, is to hover the mouse over it. When you have 60 or more files
in that directory, it is frustrating.

  * The order of the files in
'/home/js/db_docs/sql/projects/collaboration' cannot be
changed. Clicking on the "Modified", "Size", or "Name" column
header does not change the order. So when you cannot remember the
name of the file you worked on yesterday afternoon, it is difficult
to see which file is the latest in the list for example.

It would be nice if these things can be configured and to have clear
documentation on how to do it.

Regards
Johann
