Re: [Phono-L] Stuck with a Crapophone
Someone urgently wrote me asking if this was a repro machine - turns out she was the high bidder on it. She had read my article on eBay about repro phonographs and took note of what iI said about the decal and was afraid it might be a repro. Based on that article and my response to her email, she canceled her transaction with the seller, and the seller will relist it. I feel proud of having saved someone from the pitfall of buying a Crapophone, but I hope the seller will relist it as a repro. I did write to the seller and advise them of the fact, in a very polite manner, making the assumption that they did not know about it. Re: [Phono-L] Stuck with a Crapophone
John, I'm glad to see you created that eBay link describing crap-o-phones. Years ago, I would routinely send a message to eBay bidders suggesting they refer to one of several links that described crap-o-phones. I received many thank you messages from bidders, helping them avoid the pain of buying such junk. Ultimately, eBay banned me under my original eBay name for interfering with a bidding transaction which was its policy at that time. Today, it's not easy to get the bidder or buyer's email address so I'm surprised you were able to help. Good work. Re: [Phono-L] Stuck with a Crapophone
Sorry about the possible blank email. I take a different approach and perhaps thought to be mean spirited by some. If someone wishes to spend $900.00 on a crap o phone I don't involve myself. It is a learning device. If educating yourself is less important than a $900.00 bid why would I purpose the money means as much to them as it does to me? An hour or so on the internet would sort it all out or waste $900 bucks. Re: [Phono-L] Cygnet suggestion
Thanks Jerry! I can wood grain cygnet horns in Oak or Mahogany. I have also grained Amberola 1 horns and elbows, morning glory horns, Amberola 30 Grills, Paper Mache' MG horns, Victor Brass bell horns cone in mahogany for a Victor VI. The cost for graining a cygnet in either oak or mahogany is $175 plus postage. This cost is for a bare metal horn and includes the decals. If I have to strip paint or repair the horn there is additional cost based on what is needed. I often pick horns up at shows (Union or Wayne) and return them to the next show to save postage. You can contact me off list at this email or at zonoph...@woh.rr.com. Or visit my decal website, http://phonodecal.com and there is a contact link there as well. Thanks!
