The package was not present on my system. I added libmac-widgets-java
and now sikuli-ide runs without a problem.

Thanks!

Hi Arne,

With this mail I am turning your mail into a bug report (maintainers,
please see below). If your reportbug silently fails, it may be because
the STMP settings for it are wrong. You can still report bugs by using
the mail interface (like I am now) or alternatively, contact one of the
Debian support channels for help with checking the settings.

Subject: java-package: for jdk provide alternative to bin/java rather than
jre/bin/java
Package: java-package
Version: 0.53
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
when creating a deb package from the JDK there should be a (and probably
the default one) pointing to bin/java (and all other tools) rather than
jre/bin/java.
firstly, a JDK is usually installed to be used as JDK not a JRE (else one
would use the JRE to begin with). secondly, Eclipse/ANT continually
complaints about the java exec not being from an JDK, preventing the use
of the same JRE as Eclipse uses and thus a several features requiring ANT
to use the same java as Eclipse does.

Bug#731740: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/sikuli/basics/MultiFrame

2013-12-16 Thread Gilles Filippini

Vincent Bernat a écrit , Le 16/12/2013 17:39:

You may encounter other NoClassDefFound errors which are solved by
adding
"/usr/share/java/asm3-commons.jar:/usr/share/java/antlr3-runtime.jar:/usr/share/java/jaffl.jar:/usr/share/java/jnr-posix.jar:/usr/share/java/constantine.jar:/usr/share/java/guava.jar:"
to the classpath into the launchers /usr/bin/sikuli*.

This solved the NoClassDefFound errors but I am now stuck later. I get a
popup "starting - pls. wait" but nothing happens. In the console, I

Please try again with "-Dsikuli.console=false" in the
/usr/bin/sikuli-ide launcher. You should have more messages in the
console then.

I get that in the console:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
com/explodingpixels/macwidgets/MacUtils
 at org.sikuli.ide.SikuliIDE.initToolbar(SikuliIDE.java:1661)

 at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:308)
 at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:358)

Hmmm... That's strange because this class should be defined in
/usr/share/java/mac_widgets.jar which is in the classpath defined into
/usr/bin/sikuli-ide:

pini@pini:~$ unzip -l /usr/share/java/mac_widgets.jar | grep MacUtils
  957 2012-06-25 22:50 com/explodingpixels/macwidgets/MacUtils.class

Could you please check that this jar is present on your system, and is
correctly specified in the classpath?

Thanks,

_g.

The script that generates this mail tries to extract removal
reasons from comments in the britney hint files. Those comments
were not originally meant to be machine readable, so if the
reason for removing your package seems to be nonsense, it is
probably the reporting script that got confused. Please check the
actual hints file before you complain about meaningless removals.

java-package: for jdk provide alternative to bin/java rather than jre/bin/java

2013-12-16 Thread arne anka

since for some reason my reportbug sumission seems not to go through (at
least i never get a confirmation), below the text again

Subject: java-package: for jdk provide alternative to bin/java rather than
jre/bin/java
Package: java-package
Version: 0.53
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
when creating a deb package from the JDK there should be a (and probably
the default one) pointing to bin/java (and all other tools) rather than
jre/bin/java.
firstly, a JDK is usually installed to be used as JDK not a JRE (else one
would use the JRE to begin with). secondly, Eclipse/ANT continually
complaints about the java exec not being from an JDK, preventing the use
of the same JRE as Eclipse uses and thus a several features requiring ANT
to use the same java as Eclipse does.

libjetty8 breaking jar from maven-build

2013-12-16 Thread Kjetil Flovild-Midtlie

BACKGROUND:
In order to use a maven-buildt-jar directly on an ubuntu server,
I need to only change the prefix in my classpath part (manifest)
and strip out version numbers like this:

 org.apache.maven.plugins
 maven-jar-plugin
 2.4

  no.docstream.Main
  true
  /usr/share/java/
  custom

$${artifact.artifactId}.$${artifact.extension}

HOWEVER if i need to use jetty8 jars it gets painfull ::

In the "maven universe" THERE ISN'T any jars named jetty8-*.jar ,
and some jetty artifacts are also tied to a jar named javax.servlet.jar (eql to
servlet-api-3.0.jar)

..so in order so make my jetty jar work i need these lines i a postinst script:

---
#!/bin/bash

# jetty8 debian name issue fixxers

# Fix issue 1
# servlet-api ...
JAVAX=javax.servlet.jar
if [ ! -h $JAVAX ]
then
  ln -s servlet-api-3.0.jar $JAVAX
  echo -e "\n$JAVAX softlinked.\n"
else
  echo -e "\n$JAVAX link in place already.\n"
fi

# Fix issue 2
# each jetty8-* must be jetty-*
for f in $(ls | grep jetty8)
do
  NEW_LINK=$(echo $f | sed -e 's/jetty8/jetty/')
  if [ ! -h $NEW_LINK ]
  then
ln -s $f $NEW_LINK
echo "$NEW_LINK softlinked."
  else
echo "$NEW_LINK link in place already."
  fi
done

---

Could this script be considered included in libjetty8-java?

Hi Paul,

I find that in src/antTask/edu/umd/cs/findbugs/anttask/FindBugsTask.java,
it uses apache1.1, which can not be found in /usr/share/common-license.

I can't the license in the upstream, but find it on the internet[1].

So what should I do? Download the license and put it in the debian

Hi,
How is it possible then that [1] package is part of Debian? Its source
has same copyright statements. It is pretty much the same package, but
before upstream split implementation to free and non-free [2].

Subject: Re: Saxon-HE copyright
To: Eugene Zhukov

These Java interface definitions are taken from the XQJ specification,
JSR 225, which you can find here:

http://jcp.org/aboutJava/communityprocess/final/jsr225/index.html

along with the licensing terms.

An extract of the license is:

In addition, to the extent that an implementation of the Specification
would be considered
a derivative work under applicable law requiring a license grant from
the holder of the
copyright in the Specification, the Spec Lead grants a copyright
license solely for the
purpose of making and/or distributing an implementation of the
Specification that: (a)
except for the RI code licensed from Oracle under the RI License which
is attached
hereto as Exhibit B, does not include or otherwise make any use of the
RI; (b) fully
implements the Specification including all of its required interfaces
and functionality; (c)
does not modify, subset, superset or otherwise extend those public
class or interface
declarations whose names begin with “java;” and (d) passes the TCK.

In other words: Saxon, as an implementation of the XQJ specification,
takes advantage
of the copyright license granted by Oracle, and satisifies the terms
of this license insofar
as it is a complete implementation of the specification and passes the TCK.

Open Source Physics? -- a java physics engine

2013-12-16 Thread Daniel Kahn Gillmor
hey folks--

(please cc me in replies, i don't think i'm subscribed to debian-science
or pkg-java-maintainers at the moment)

Has any packaging work been done on debian packaging for Open Source
Physics? [0]

[0] http://www.compadre.org/OSP/

I recently got a request to package Tracker [1], and was just curious if
anyone has done any review of this project, or has any experience,
pre-made packages, or warnings or caveats i should be aware of.

[1] http://www.cabrillo.edu/~dbrown/tracker

I don't have much java packaging experience (and i don't remember much
in the way of physics :P) but if anyone else is interested in
collaborating or providing guidance or just taking this on, i would be
very happy to hear from you.

java-package: add DJK to alternatives

2013-12-16 Thread debian

Hi,
I am sending this to the list's address since reportbug keeps failing
to deliver reports to debian, don't know why ...

I create my Java-packages from the JDK installer via

make-jpkg

When using them with Eclipse and Ant, using "JRE"->"Run in the same JRE
as the workspace", Ant fails with the message

com.sun.tools.javac.Main is not on the classpath.
Perhaps JAVA_HOME does not point to the JDK.
It is currently set to "/usr/lib/jvm/jdk-7-oracle-x64/jre"

JAVA_HOME is nowhere actively defined, so it must be done by Eclipse
internally.
Investigating why it points to "/usr/lib/jvm/jdk-7-oracle-x64/jre"
instead of "/usr/lib/jvm/jdk-7-oracle-x64" I checked /usr/bin/java:

/usr/bin/java -> /etc/alternatives/java ->
/usr/lib/jvm/jdk-7-oracle-x64/jre/bin/java

I am pretty sure, this is the cause -- Eclipse constructs the JAVA_HOME
value from this path.
Checking update-alternatives, I only se the JRE, despite the JDK being
available:

# update-alternatives --config java
There are 2 choices for the alternative java (providing /usr/bin/java).

  SelectionPath Priority
Status

* 0/usr/lib/jvm/jdk-7-oracle-x64/jre/bin/java  317
auto mode
  1/usr/lib/jvm/jdk-6.43-oracle-x64/jre/bin/java 316
manual mode
  2/usr/lib/jvm/jdk-7-oracle-x64/jre/bin/java 317
manual mode

I'd like to be able to select the JDK, too, at this point. So,
java-package/make-jpkg should add that to the alternatives if present in
the created deb package.

Thanks
