I suspect that the only way I'll really be able to debug this is if I
can install LightsOut on my WHS machine and thoroughly test to see
what's going on. Is there a free or "trial-ware" version of LightsOut
available?

If that second cron job runs on the server sometime after the original
off_time and before on_time, you should be all set, right?

That could work but is slightly complicated as you could be using
commands from more than one config file but shouldn't be impossible. I
think xml is the way to go. I'd like to get what I've got working for
now though and it's really bugging me that it works for me but not for

Yes - I editted the title of the first post, but it seems impossible to
change the title which you seen in the thread list.

Perhaps I'll start a new thread if you think the current title puts

hmmm, like you say, not a lot of info gained from that (except that it
confirms that we're both using the same SBC firmware). I've even tried
changing my language to Danish and it still worked for me! I don't know
what else to suggest other than you sending my the entire contents of
your SBC's SqueezeIR folder with the fault in place. If that throws no
light onto the situation then I'll have to knock up a version with some
more debugs in it and send it to you. I'll try and calculate the NATIVE
& DENON representations of the LIRC code and see if those work. That
should rule out any problems with the LIRC converter.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Activate AutoDim via cli/bash

2009-08-26 Thread Blu3IcE

He Peter,

just saw your post and I think I have to explain what I'm trying to do
a little bit more detailed.

My Server is running Squeezecenter 24/7. And currently there is no need
to change this.

The computer in my room which is turned on at least for a short time to
check mails once a day is the computer I want to use to send a cli
command to my server to darken the display of the Squeezebox in my
room.
Your cli expansion as I understand it, is made to permanently change
the off_time. What I actually need is to temporary change it for the
case I go to bed early and don't want to be bothered by the Squeezeboxes
flarelight.
So I would just need a flag that is settable via cli that tells my
Squeezebox to be darkened till the next on_time.

Your current version would do the trick too, but I would have to set up
a cronjob to restore the "original" off_time.

Thanks a lot for your effort and improvements so far!
Hope this will be possible too.

Looking at your plugin debugs, the connections are being closed before
they are fully connected, so there is something ending early. I hope we

Otherwise there are 96 downloads of the new version - is anyone else

I have put "DEBUG 1" in the first line of squeezeirdata.txt, but if the

is not much help there - all the lines in squeezeirdata.txt are parsed

I wasn't actually thinking of a GUI, just a section of the

to settings>Advanced>About and look at the version. Mine is 7.3 r6038.
I have tried the lines that you have posted every which way and it just
works for me but I think they may have changed the way keys work in
version 7.4. As it's still in beta I am not using it yet but if you are
then it may explain everything.

If that is the issue then it may be a while before I get a 7.4
compliant version knocked up.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Music IP Mixer help

2009-08-26 Thread Ultraviolet

I'm running the newest non-beta version of SC and MiP isn't working at
all (there's no "M" in Squeezecenter nor is there an option to create a
mix on the Duet remote). I think I know why though and am looking for a
way to make this work. I'm running 32-bit XP and have exceeded the 2tb
volume limit for my music. Because Squeezecenter only allows one to
enter a single folder for a music path, I created a folder with nothing
in it but shortcuts. This worked fine for Squeezecenter, but Music IP
apparently does not follow shortcuts. When music IP is pointed directly
at the various folders, it analyzes fine, but (after making sure the API
service is started) Squeezecenter is oblious of MiP. I'm assuming this
is because MiP has different paths to the files than Squeezecenter.

So, does anyone have a solution to this problem?

BTW, I did have MiP and Squeezecenter working fine together before I
was forced to use shortcuts after exceeding 2tb.

I would like a GUI to make creating the config file easier but I think
that would be better suited to a SqueezeCenter plugin or even a seperate
stand-alone app. I don't think it's appropriate for the SBC (limited
screen size, few types of controls etc). The screensaver option though
would be good to have as an option within the SqueezeIR menus.

I didn't think the LIRC commands would work if the hex parameters still
had the '0x' bit at the start but I stand corrected - the SBC must be
cleverer than I thought!
Your lines should work, I tried them on my system (had to replace your
ir commands with something my kit would recognise and it worked fine
although I didn't have the '@' prefix. I'll try it with that later
tonight. Is it just the play key that doesn't work or does everything
in SqueezeIR stop working when you put that line into your file?
Without sounding stupid, but just to make sure, the play key is the one
with the right-arrow on it, top right of the wheel.

Can you put the line 'DEBUG 1' into your squeezeirdata.txt and try
again, then PM me the log file from the SBC? I forget where the log
file is stored exactly but will find out.

The LIRC codes are long but need to encapsulate all the protocol
information aswell as the actual codes hence the number of parameters
needed, and the reason why 'proper' protocols are better (but only if
you know them) as a lot of the info can be coded into the applet.

Why do you say you need to backup stings.txt? Have I forgotten to
include it with RC2?

Actually I don't know :-)
The question here is: does SqueezeCenter support multiple artworks per
track and I believe the answer is "no" (I have see discussions around
this on the "New Schema" threads).
IF that should be supported, I believe you should be able to see this
through the TrackInfo menu, where there is an "Show Artwork" menu item
and it is already named "Show Artworks" (at least in German, have to
look up the English version).
This will be reachable from NowPlaying in the next release.

Our discussion is too long ago ...

It started with this posting of mine and went on

make it work consistently. I did already attach a log file, though.

I am the guy who is using LightsOut, so the server does not hibernate
at all as long as my notebook is powered up. WOL is working fine. It is
only the watchdog that either keeps waking up again all the time or goes
to sleep and never comes alive again. I was able to make it sort of work
with a defined sequence of configuration changes, but I have forgotten.

I will have a look at my old postings and try recreate that situation,
so I can give you another log file.

displays the first artwork album and there is no arow mark to show the
second artwork. In Itunes there is a small arrow mark which, when
clicked displays the second artwork. A preferred option would be for
Ipeng to display all the album artwork for the track in the "Now
Playing" screen automatically switching between each one for a fixed
duration.
Does this already exist or maybe possible to incorporate in a future
version?

Thanks

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] INGUZ plugin does not load

2009-08-26 Thread iwalker

I agree that Inguz is very clever.
Unfortunately, having got Inguz to work, by uninstalling Squeezecenter
I've lost most of my library!
This is probably the wrong forum, but any suggestions as to how to get
my library back would be appreciated!
I run iTunes, and all music has been ripped into Apple Lossless.
Music is stored on an internal hard drive, and I also have an external
hard drive as a back up.
Whenever I rip a CD, I copy the folder from the internal drive (M) to
the external(F). Each file appears as an an MP4 file.

The iTunes location is 'E'.

Having completely re scanned the whole library, Squeezecenter appears
to have found all 8000 tunes, but when I try to play back, I find that
on each album, whichever track is selected, I only get the first track
on the album.

In iTunes, all the files still seem to be there, so I do hope I haven't
actually lost the files. However,in iTunes, if I go into 'information'
on any track, other than the first, an 'i' symbol comes up saying that
the file cannot be found. It can be traced manually but this is
laborious.

I haven't specified a 'path' for music in Squeezecenter as the
instructions say to leave this blank. Is this wrong?

Is there any simple way of restoring the library to how it was?
Perhaps I was right to be wary of uninstalling Squeezecenter and all
preferences.

I now have a great equalisation system but can only use it on about 10%
of my music!!

Thanks. That patch has certainly changed the behavior. I'll test
tonight and report. Has the patch been passed upstream or should I just
try to get them included in the FreeBSD port?

2009-08-26 Thread bpa

Just rechecked original log you posted -

1. I was mistaken about using lame and mp3
2. Your SC is using standard faad and flac.

To support streams - there is patched version of flac *and* a patched
version of faad.

If you use standard Flac - I think any stream (not just AAC) that gets
transcoded into Flac will stop after a few hours of playing. The exact
time will depend on the stream speed.

There are patches to faad to support streamed input so the SC supplied
faad is different to stanard faad

The patches can eb found here

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)

I use the FreeBSD port (audio/squeezecenter), as I have done for many
years. This depends on the FreeBSD audio/faad port which is a pretty
stock faad2-2.7. I don't think the FreeBSD port installs any binaries
of its own.

Do I need a patch for faad?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spicefly SugarCube (Automatic MusicIP DJ)

2009-08-26 Thread craigim

> try restarting musicip and the squeezecenter server.

No luck, same behavior.

I shut down both, booted MIP, and then restarted the server.

Sugarcube does not appear in the Extras (or any other) menu, but when I
go to the Sugercube plugin setup page, it tells me that it's been
enabled, the port is 10002, and no filters are set. I can turn it on
and off at will by checking the box and clicking 'apply', as well as
change any of the other settings. Those settings are getting saved
because they were unchanged from how I had set them (tweaked mix style
and variety) when I restarted everything above.

In the MIP settings, the port is also 10002 and the port test indicates
everything is working, and I can make traditional MIP mixes by clicking
on the `M' icon in my library.

Finally, when I play a single song, it plays and then stops. No new
songs are chosen.

Are there any other plugins that I should have installed that are
required to get this to work?

Tried it - but still no luck!

I have also tried it with the new LIRC protocol, but that doesn't work
either. Strangely, though, when I assign an IR-command to a button (e.g.
Play), it loses it's original function - and I did remember to put an
'@' in front of the DATA_PRESS command.

So status as of now is that this works (dang, those LIRC codes are long
...!):

Code:

ROOT ; ACTION ; ON/OFF ; ON ; OFF ;
LIRC:35000:9038:4332:675:1556:675:454:662:0xE13E:16:0xA45B:16:100LIRC:35000:9038:4332:675:1556:675:454:662:0xE13E:16:0xD926:16:100
  ; LIRC:35000:9038:4332:675:1556:675:454:662:0xE13E:16:0x13EC:16:100

but this doesn't:

Code:

ROOT ; KEY ; KEY_PLAY ; ON ; ;
@LIRC:35000:9038:4332:675:1556:675:454:662:0xE13E:16:0xA45B:16:100LIRC:35000:9038:4332:675:1556:675:454:662:0xE13E:16:0xD926:16:100
 ;

The only difference between them is that TYPE changes from ACTION to
KEY, and TITLE changes accordingly. Also, the DATA_HOLD command is
removed from the KEY command.

Any idea why this does not work?

> Remember to backup your SqueezeIRData.txt file first, before trampling

And also the strings.txt file (it wouldn't be too much of a hassle to
re-create that one, but still)

Cool - thanks!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] INGUZ plugin does not load

2009-08-26 Thread milosz

It really is a pretty cool idea to use the Squeeze server to do DSP for
EQ and also the "room compensation" can work really well with careful
measurements. This is especially all very useful if your server PC has
some computing horsepower that is otherwise going idle.

What amazes me is the effort and skill that went into developing this-
writing this kind of code is no trivial project.

LAME 32bits version 3.98.2 installed and working.
No Filetypes disabled and in particular AAC to FLAC, MP3 and WAV are
all enabled using faad/flac, faad/lame or just faad.

No bit rate limiting

I've tried a couple of streams with the requested debugging:

http://www.knigma.org.uk/scratch/plugin.bbciplayer.rtmp.txt

I'll take any follow-up to a new thread as requested.

The SC is trying to do faad->lame i.e. AAC->MP3

Have you got lame installed ?
Have you bit rate limiting enabled ? if so what is the limit ?
Have you disabled any of the AAC settings in WebUI
Settings/Advanced/Filetypes ?

Don't understand this at present - could you start a new thread and
