Thanks for responding. I am not sure what you mean by local music...if
you mean itunes...yes...my itunes do get scrobbled (I think). I listen
to a lot of Rhapsody albums and I do not see them scrobbled. Also, I see
much more music scrobbled when I listen on my PC than when I am
listening on my Squeezebox. I do not think that any music is being
scrobbled on my SB. I have the correct username and email address
listed. Anyhow, thanks.

WRT a new machine you might get more advice on the general forums since
it's not really a plugin specific topic. But here's my 2p anyway:

I bought a Mac Mini because I couldn't build an equivalent windows box
for the price Apple were selling the mini at. I could build small and
quiet, small and powerful (but noisy) or quiet and powerful (but
relatively big).

That was a few years ago when the only options for small/quiet systems
were the VIA embedded boards. These days you have the dual core Intel
Atom based systems which (my gut feel says) should have the horsepower
to run Inguz.

Take a look at the new D510 embedded board - I've not used one, but I
reckon it ought to do the job.

It doesn't have to be radical, any filter designed for one system should
make an audible change (for the worse) on another.

Here's what I'm currently running with - it's pretty mild, but given
that it's measured for my setup it should sound ***p on yours! (Put it
this way - I can hear the effect on my cheap PC speakers when I run
softsqueeze with this filter in place)

Looks like gotNBA will need the same patch on lines 4311, 4317, & 4318

Maybe you can add these to your 5.8.14 release?

The request is sent to mysb.com directly. I run about the same code as
'mysbstatus_json.pl'
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?p=470590#post470590) as
part of my power daemon.
I used to query mysb.com only to see if a player was playing, before
switching it back with a CLI request to SC. Now I still send players to
mySB.com using a CLI query to SC, but send them back to SC using a Json
query to the server on mySB.com.
Before asking for reconnection to SC, I run
"@query=([$id,['connected','?']]);" against mySB.com, which returns
"_connected => 1" if that specific player is present on mySB.com. (A
serverstatus query does it as well, returning among other things a
"connected" key -yep, without underscore-, for each player.)
To my great satisfaction, I now only use "connect" directives, and no
longer the bizzaro "disconnect" command. I guess I am "switching to"
twice; unholy but harmless, it seems.

Which url do you do JSon queries to the local server? Is it
http://localhost:9000/jsonrpc.js ?
I agree parsing the CLI responses is no fun, especially when it goes
south. But somehow, sending a Json request needs a lot of packing, and I
have quite a bit of code that manages to use the CLI. I don't feel the
urge to migrate to Json, except when the CLI can't be trusted.

ESPN's NFL page normally has a hyper link on the team names that takes
you to the appropriate team page. Since there is no AFC & NFC All Star
team pages the parsing failed.

For those that want to patch the gotNFL routine you can change the
following lines. It not only fixes parsing for the pro bowl game today,
but my testing shows it will also correctly parse team names when the
hyperlink to the team page is present. (i.e. - Next week's superbowl or
regular season games) Guess you don't have to worry about the latter
until next fall.

Line 5025:
FROM
my @teams   =  $game_div->look_down( "_tag", "a", "href",
qr{clubhouse\?} );

TO
my @teams   =  $game_div->look_down( "_tag", "p", "class",
qr{team-name} );

And lines 5030 & 5031:
FROM
my( $away_team )   = $teams[ 0 ]->content_list;
my( $home_team )   = $teams[ 1 ]->content_list;
TO

This is an obvious question, for which I ought to have an answer.
Unfortunately, it's been the better part of a year since I played around
with WHS, so it's eluding me. All I can say is that when I configured a
machine with WHS, I was able to hook it up with a monitor, keyboard &
mouse, log on locally and install what I wanted to install in the normal
fashion. I'm not sure exactly how one would do that using the WHS
client console, or whatever it's called.

Once thing you might try: download the zipped version of SCPowerTool:
http://srvrpowerctrl.googlecode.com/files/SCPowerTool_latest.zip to your
non-WHS client machine, unzip it and then try to copy the exe files to
the \windows folder on the WHS machine. You'll need lots of
administrative privileges to do this.

But I think there has to be an easier way, as suggested by this post:

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Inguz moving forward?

2010-01-31 Thread esbrewer

I am really struggling to keep Inguz DRC running on Mac OS as the
Squeezebox server structure evolves. Installation of Inguz on Mac OS
requires breaking into a prefpane package that (at least in my system)
seems plagued by permissions issues. I've spent many hours trying to
keep this plugin running on an Intel iMac that was purchased for its
power, stability, and simplicity.

I'm thinking that my best bet to keep Inguz DRC running going forward
is to shift to a Windows based SBS setup. For me that could mean the
following:

1. Install a VM and Windows on my iMac and have Windows exclusively
devoted to running SBS and Inguz.
2. Buy a new energy efficient Windows box to run SBS and Inguz.

Concerns/questions:

Is the VM option on the iMac just going to threaten the stability of
the Mac OS system I use for routine tasks?
Is Windows 7 my best bet for the VM or the new machine? If so which
version?
How much processing power would you guys recommend for an energy
efficientnew machine?

The new Dell Zino HD looks like an interesting option - I could attach
it via HDMI to my home theater and maintain the machine as necessary
from there.

Thoughts? Advice? I've learned so much from people here. Sorry to
ramble, but what are you all thinking about the future of Inguz DRC?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2010-01-31 Thread epoch1970

A quick note.
Recently I started having problems with my own CLI functions for player
switch to / switch back mySB.com. Under some circumstances that are
probably network related, the disconnect would work (player and SC
happy) but the player would still be seen as connected by mySB. And it
stays declared on both sides forever (until you switch again to mySB and
a disconnect fully succeeds.)

In my code, player ubiquity is a really bad case so I disable handling
of the player until its location is unequivocal. In case of a permanent
stalemate as above, the end result is a server sleeping over active
players.

I've just changed my "switch back" CLI command to a "switch to" Json
command. It seems to cure the problem. With Json I could not use the
equivalent of "disconnect www.squeezenetwork.com", but
" connect " is working. More specifically, I
use: @query = [$playerid,['connect','192.168.1.50']];

Selecting "Prefer WMA Streams" in the BBC iPlayer does fix the current
problem.

Now to find out if the faad executable should be working or not, and if
it should, why it isn't :-)

Thanks again,

Spider.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBC iPlayer plugin problems

2010-01-31 Thread bpa

The "Cant open file for" message means your SBS server cannot transcode
a particular audio format.

The default audio format used by BBCiPlayer is AAC which means you need
to have the faad executable working on your system. It looks like a
version has not been installed on your systems.

The workaround would be to use WMA format by disabling AAC and enabling
WMA in the BBCiPlayer settings.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2010-01-31 Thread staresy

Hi,
Is SvrPowerControl compatible with WHS running on an HP Media Smart
Server?

I've installed the plug-in and can view the config setting in the
squeezecenter server, the bit I'm stuck on is I think I have to install
scpowertool?

I don't know where or how to install this on WHS?

Can anyone advise?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] BBC iPlayer plugin problems

2010-01-31 Thread SpiderJon

I've just updated to Squeezebox Server 7.4.1 r28947 but am now having
problems with the BBC iPlayer plugin.

n.b. I'm running Squeezebox Server on SlimNAS 2.0.1, on FreeNAS 0.7.1
(r4997)

It appears on my Controller and WebGUI menus, and I can navigate
through stations down to programmes, but when I select something the
stream just doesn't play.

"BBC iPlayer (v1.0.1)" shows as enabled on the "Active plugins" page on
the SBServer WebGUI.

However, it doesn't appear in the \slimnas\squeezebox\Plugins directory
(where I'd expect it to be), but it does appear in

\slimnas\var\squeezebox\Cache\InstalledPlugins\Plugins

I've tried deactivating it and 'reinstalling' it via the Plugins page
on the SBServer WebGUI, but that didn't fix it.

Any ideas, suggestions, or the pointing out of something blindingly
obvious that I've missed :-) welcome.

Rgds

Spider

[SlimDevices: Plugins] SB Classic - Display of radio streams within Now Playing

2010-01-31 Thread Danny8

I'm using *Custom Scan* to read extra tags from classical music tracks
in my library.

Tags for "work", movement, et cetera are displayed on my Squeezebox 3
using *Music Information Screen*. After adding a radio stream to Now
Playing, I cannot see the station name within my playlist -(Now
Playing)-. This is expected because MusicInfoScr is configured to show
my custom tags, not the station name.

While a station is playing, I see song titles or whatever text the
station happens to stream. So, this isn't the worst problem in the
world. But when the station is stopped, paused—or when browsing the
playlist, I see only a blank screen. I cannot see what's currently
"loaded".

Has anyone made a workaround for this? I thought I might be able to set
up a playlist for my radio station(s). The playlist would be able to
format the SB display either using the playlist name or a data field
from the playlist. Does anyone know if this is possible? Any other
recommendations?

Thanks. Sounds promising. I meant an option to just cache everything
downloaded by CB and reuse it if the same menu is invoked again. That
way it should not matter if the menu disappears (the cache is then just
redundant) or if another menu appears. If you could work out something
with Erland to distinguish between static and dynamic menus, that would
be even better! I have filed a ticket for this.

And while I was at it I also filed this ticket: Add an option to sort
the More menu, just like playlists can be sorted. If a new menu item is
added to the More menu, put that item last and let the user put it in
place using the sort option.

Do you know if it is possible to use CustomBrowse to supplement/alter
the context artist, album and track menus in iPeng?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2010-01-31 Thread danco

Just a quick note that if your main account is not an admin account you
can just su into the admin account, and then use sudo. That avoids
setting up a root account, which one should never do unless absolutely
necessary.

My recollection is, though, that when the account under which SBS was
installed is not an admin account, there can be issues with the setup
script. Basically, the setup script makes some changes to the sudoers
file, and they aren't exactly the changes needed. I know I had to edit
my sudoers file to get everything to work, though that may have been
because I had not done the installation of the plugin exactly as
instructed.
