Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Can't get MusicIP to work on my Windows 7 box
Thanks for your reply Matt. I have set SqueezeServer service to Delayed Start in Services, which should have the same effect as the Spicefly registry fix. However I think the problem is that there does not appear to be a mmm.ini anywhere on my PC (according to my manual delvings and a Google desktop search). The good news is that C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\MusicIP\MusicIP Mixer\default.m3lib does exist. I can't explain why MusicIP 1.9b6 does not seem to have created an ini file in it's own Program File directory (or indeed any other directory on my PC) and therefore how the Music IP server and GUI are working. I might try adjusting and installing the ini file displayed on the Spicefly site later (or perhaps installing an older version of MusicIP). BTW. I have turned the annoying UAC off for my (admin) account and have set Folder and Search Options so I can see all files and directories on my PC. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custombrowse CLI
I'm sorry, it seems like I've mislead you earlier. The "Statistics" (TrackStat) menu in Custom Browse isn't offered over CLI, you will only get the first level and it feels like a bug that you even get that. This is also the reason why the "Statistics" menu isn't available on the Radio/Touch/Controller interface within the Custom Browse menu, it's only available as separate menu. If you are able to use JSON instead of CLI, there is a "trackstat browse" and "trackstat statisticsjive" JSON command available, this is what's used to render the TrackStat menus on the Controller/Radio/Touch. If you enable debug logging on "network.cometd" when using a Controller/Radio/Touch or desktop SqueezePlay, you will see how the commands look like. When using the JSON interface over telnet it just displays things like "HASH(0x1053c288)" so you won't be able to return the structures. If you know some perl, the implementation is in the jiveBrowse and jiveStatistcs function in Plugins/TrackStat/Plugin.pm. If you provide a patch for a working CLI interface I'll consider including it in a future TrackStat version. It's probably possible to base it on the current implementation in the jiveBrowse and jiveStatistics functions, just flattening the result before returning it. -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75979 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Custombrowse CLI
I'm trying to access trackstat information through the custombrowse CLI. I have a basic understanding of the query from the wiki, but although I can retrieve information from other levels, I get nothing when I use hierarchy:trackstat_trackstat. It looks from the web interface that perhaps I need to go further to get any results, but isn't there a way to return the possible values, to narrow the selection without knowing ahead of time what the possible values are? MC- I have my "now playing" screensaver (Playwithcoverandclock) set for BOTH "when playing" and also set for the "now playing" screensaver. The setup you are asking about for a now playing screensaver should be pretty easy - to put a large cover graphic, and place the time text and alarm icons on top. The 1G was really bad, the 3G is much better (don't have a 2G, just an iPhone 3G which is the same platform and is similar to the 3G iTouch) although I doubt it could rival a Squeezebox. Never cared too much about the audio quality of an iPod. For browsing and e-mail it's actually very, very usable, I'm using it all the time. I do 90% of my reading on this forum with the iTouch or iPhone and like 50% of the writing. Actually I find keeping up with this forum on it much easier than using the browser, but that's mainly due to the Tapatalk forum reader app. The virtual keyboard is not great but acceptable. Can't rival a Blackberry but it's OK for shorter messages. iTunes is a real drag yet you need to use it, I think, at least for setup and to get music onto the device. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Can't get MusicIP to work on my Windows 7 box
This could have something to do with the UAC in Windows (7 and Vista). Check the MMM.INI file in the MIP program directory, there should be an entry like this: cache=C:\Users\<>\AppData\Roaming\MusicIP\MusicIP Mixer\default.m3lib Another thing could be the order in which the MIP and SBS load. There is a registry fix which you can download from SpiceFly's website. I hope this helps. Tags have been written to files. My SBS MusicIP plugin is enabled and set to only read mixable status from MIP with reload time set to 0 Windows 7 firewall is not running. I've tried full SS rescans and re-installed MusicIP (1.9b6) but to no avail. Bringing up http://127.0.0.1:10002/api/songs?extended in a web browser shows a blank page with no indication anything is happening (have waited 15 minutes or so). Just thought I'd give an update: I took a new box, did a brand new XP install, installed MiP 1.9b and SBS 7.4.2. It worked great--until I used shortcuts in SBS--then the same problem. I uninstalled everything, and tried MiP 1.8 (the last public release I believe) with the exact same results. Other than stopping and starting the MiP service, is there anything at all accessible to me that would let me troubleshoot/configure/do anything at all about this? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPod touch - what size for iPeng?
Size doesn't matter. No matter how much you cache, you will not fill 8 GB. The App is 3.5 MB uncompressed and caching: 22,000 Tracks times 4KB (which is on the high side) is < 100MB. But you don't have a different artwork for each track, so it's more like 2.500 albums + a few thousand images from online services so probably even <20MB. There are two things to consider: - You should prefer a 2G iTouch over a 1G model because the 2Gs have volume keys you can use with iPeng. Yet I thing 1Gs will be hard o find these days anyway. - The 3G model (current units >=32GB) is faster than the 2G model (current units <= 16GB) which speeds up iPeng startup form 5s to 3s and makes for smoother scrolling. Operation of the App itself will be the same since the speed is determined more by server response times than the App itself. Other apps, especially games and browsing do profit from the faster model. -- pippin --- see iPeng, the Squeezebox iPhone remote, at penguinlovesmusic.com pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75944 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

8GB will be fine. The actual app is << 1GB and this is flash size we are talking about so this doesn't affect performance. Even if you do fancy loading on some music then you don't need the size of your library in flash. The way I look at it is if the battery lasts <24 hours then you need less than 24hours music loaded on it. You have to charge it then so you might as well dock it and you can change the music loaded on then through smart playlists. I used to have a 1GB Nano and found that just fine in terms of storage.
