Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Scan speed
Daverz;644072 Wrote: Without the trick mentioned earlier in the thread, previous scan times with SBS 7.5 were at least 10 hours, which was ridiculous, especially if you only have a few things to add to the menus. 2.5 hours is back in the realm of reasonable for 60k tracks. Custom Browse is also much zippier. So my thanks to Erland for the new work on CB and CS. 7.6 crept up on me quite unexpectedly. I had been expecting it to come in a month or two (at the end of summer). Anyway, I made the move, using SQLite. On my Windows 7 64 bit system , SB 7.6 takes 3 to 4 times longer to scan my files from scratch. It used to take 12-14 minutes, and now takes about 45. The Custom scan which follows is about the same at a bit under 2 hours (whilst playing tracks). I had been hoping that the Custom Scan would be quicker, and certainly hadn't expected the standard scan to be so much slower. Has anyone else had similar results with 7.6 and SQLite? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Scan and 7.6
Try to enable info level debugging on plugin.customscan in SBS Settings/Advanced/Logging and see if it seems to hang on a certain query in the refresh operation that happens as the first step of a rescan. With info level logging you will be able to see how long time each step in the refresh operation takes in the server.log. I solved some issues in one of the latest Custom Scan versions related to this but I've seen that it can take some time in my own fairly small library, so I suspect it might take longer in a large library. I've also seen that sometimes it can work very fast and sometimes it will work very slow. -- erland Erland Isaksson ('My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info)) (Developer of 'many plugins/applets' (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/User:Erland). It turns out that the previous 'trick' of playing tracks at the same time is now the problem. I was not actually listening to the tracks, and in fact they were playing very badly indeed, rebuffering all over the place (even using squeezeplay on the same PC). Scanning and doing nothing else now took only 13 minutes basic, and 2 hours for customscan, which is fine (now I know!). Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] LazySearch and 7.6.0 r32296/32300
I'm continuing investigation, when I get the time (which is still quite rare). I'm currently trying to navigate all the changes to XMLBrowser/GlobalSearch and the OPML-based menus with a view to try to re-use that when pushing into search results. If I can't get anywhere soon I'll re-implement my own browsing modes, but I'd rather not do that if it isn't definitely necessary - I'll probably give in an post to the dev list soon! I've not really tested it, but I don't see why pressing PLAY/ADD on search results doesn't work already (eg search for an album then press PLAY, and not pressing RIGHT on a search result); I think it's the deeper browsing that's been broken by the 7.6 changes. Unfortunately I'm not near anything I can use to test this at the moment, so I could be wrong. I solved some issues in one of the latest Custom Scan versions related to this but I've seen that it can take some time in my own fairly small library, so I suspect it might take longer in a large library. I've also seen that sometimes it can work very fast and sometimes it will work very slow. I seem to recall a while back you saying that Custom Scan refreshes had to go back SB 7.5.n frequently to allow people to play tracks whilst scanning. My experience thus far is that it is quite impossible to play anything whilst scanning (base or custom) using SB 7.6. I get no sound, then rebuffering, restarting, and so on. It is very noticeable using 7.6 that the the squeezebox service is now running at a constant steady pace (about 9-10% CPU on my PC) whilst custom scanning. It used to scan in short bursts of a few seconds. If feasible (optionally?), I'd much rather all scans ran as fast as possible and I'll forgo listening to SB whilst it is scanning. -- PasTim PasTim's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41642 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89135 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] LazySearch and 7.6.0 r32296/32300
I can tell you that pressing PLAY if you find an album or a song does indeed work. and plays the album or the song. Come to that, if you find an artist, and press PLAY, it starts playing songs by that artist, and will presumably go on and play everything if you let it. BUT if you press right-arrow when you find an album, it just goes back to the album - not into the tracks. And if you press right-arrow when you find an artist, it just goes back to the artist - not into a list of the albums. Hope this helps. -- Martin_z Martin_z's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10378 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87060 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Under 7.6 I found that my 2 libraries (classical and standard dependent) had indeed swapped values, and so had to edit each of my (mostly your) Custom Browse menus, trackheaders and so on. It was a little odd, in that even though some menus when edited showed the wrong library, some of them still worked. I didn't bother to try find out why. I had this problem once before when I somewhat foolishly cleared all preferences etc under 7.5.3. When I recreated my 2 libraries they got different values. I don't suppose there's a simple way to reset the values is there? Could I get into the database tables with some relatively simple tool and check/ change the library values before starting a rescan/rebuild? Yep - that's what I'd hoped. It's just the browsing into X (ie browse into artist and see albums, browse into album and see tracks) that's duff. At least it can still just about be used for basic searching-playing use cases while I sort my act out, though! BUT if you press right-arrow when you find an album, it just goes back to the album - not into the tracks. I am sure there's a lot to do around your plugins with 7.6. Nonetheless could I ask whether it would be difficult to add the additional buttons (some skins optionally can display additional buttons for playable items, like eg. Play next or Remove from playlist) to the DefaultCB playlist? With the loss of fishbone (which had its own problems on 7.5.n but was quite fun) I'm torn between the ease of use of ClassicCB, which doesn't have the time remaining and a few other features, or DefaultCB which doesn't currently have the Additional Playlist buttons present on the Default skin. -- PasTim PasTim's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41642 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89179 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotify App on Touch has no sound for many tracks
I just bought a Squeezebox Touch, primarily to use the new Spotify App with my premium account. After initial setup of the Touch and connection to my wiresless network there was an auto software upgrade, and then I installed Spotify from the App gallery and configured it for my account. Many tracks/albums play flawlessly, but there is a large number of albums that don't seem to play at all. The interface shows them playing with the track time counting down but there's no sound! It's 100% consistent with certain tracks. For example, I can play Jolene by Dolly Parton and it works 100% of the time. But if I try to play Seven Nation Army - Live by The White Stripes there's never any sound. When I find a track with no sound, every other track on that album has no sound as well. It also won't play Rolling in the Deep by Adele (in the top tracks list), or any Charles Mingus track I've tried so far. All in all, it seems to have no audio for about 20% of the tracks I've tried to play. Any ideas what's going on here? I really want to be happy with this purchase, but there seem to be some pretty significant bugs here. -- cacophony555 cacophony555's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=48600 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89191 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

It's a Spotify problem with regional libraries. You can't access some European tracks from the US, for example or you need different links to access them from the US. You are actually running into the same issues when you use the Spotify web site and App and you have links to the wrong library. I believe it only became a real issue due to the Spotify US launch. -- pippin --- see iPeng, the Squeezebox iPhone remote and *New: iPeng for iPad*, at penguinlovesmusic.com pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89191 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
