Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)

2011-07-31 Thread castalla

I've tried BBC Radio now on two different server (Win Linux) - 3 HD
doesn't connect on either. iPlayer 3 HD connects and plays.

So, it seems the two work differently in accessing the streams?

---

As a side issue: I switched from the local server to mysqueezebox.com
- this removed BBC Radio from the menu.

On switching back to the local server, BBC Radio was also missing.
When I did a cold reboot, it re-appeared in the menu.

A side effect of all this switching was that all the presets were also
lost.

---

I'm raising this because I recall that 3HD in BBC Radio worked in 7.5.5
via VPN.

I accept that there are so many confounding variables, it's well-nigh
impossible to track anything down.

Now I'm on 7.6 I don't relish resetting everything back to 7.5 to check
back.
--

I guess the moral of the story is don't start delving into the inner
workings!

--

Thanks for the advice and patience!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2011-07-31 Thread RonHatl

Triode,

After upgrading to SbS 7.6.0 I first needed to update your Spotify
plugin to 1.4.4 several times before it appeared in the web gui. Now
that it is installed, I get the following error once entering the main
menu of the plugin both from the web gui and from my SB3 and Boom
players (Vista 32bit):

Cannot request non-HTTP URL
file:///C:/ProgramData/Squeezebox/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/Spotify/menuadv.opml

I have tried to clear cache and rescan music database. When I did this
all plugins disappeared and I had to install the 1.4.4 upgrade again.
It didn't help regarding the error above though.

Hi,

(Sorry if this has been up before but I couldn't find that in this
lng thread :) )

The problem I have is that the cover arts in the playlist are to big
and printed over each other and over the content of the list. Can't
remember that I have seen this in 7.5.x.

Cover art for my local files are shown correctly.

Anyone else seen this?

I'm now running 7.6.1 - r32931 on openSUSE 11.4 x86_64 and plugin
1.4.4. (Tested with FF5 and Konqueror.)

To test your VPN access with a different service can you play UK only
podcast from the BBC such as Composer of the week.

All the BBC podcast can be accessed using the Podcast App and creating
a Podcast entry for
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/opml/bbc_podcast_opml.xml; on your mysb.com
podcast account.

Okay - I added that url to podcasts.

It shows up as BBC Station List. I open that and choose a station -
gett a list of podcast. None of which play - just get a description

How's it supposed to work?

Just deal with BBC podcast.

If internet access is OK all BBC podcast can be played but UK only
ones will play full podcast if in UK (or VPN) or play an audio message
that it is UK only. Either way audio is played.

Are you trying to play from a Squeezeplay interface ? if so have you

Is it worth trying the other protocols?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)

2011-07-31 Thread bpa

Since your VPN terminates at the PC only PC originated connections will
appear from the UK. Any connections to BBC direct from Touch will not
appear as part of your VPN.

BBC Radio applet will make connections directly from Touch to Router to
BBC so Radio will not appear as part of the VPN

BBC iPlayer plugin - if you are playing stream natively by Touch such
as http based WMA, AAC or MP3 - again the audio conection will
originate in Touch and so will not be part of VPN.

BBC iPlayer Flash/AAC stream (e.g. R3 HD) is first processed by PC and
so will appear to be part of the VPN.

Podcast are http MP3 and so are played natively by Touch and are not
part of the VPN.

To make your stream part of the VPN they must terminate from BBC at the
PC. For WMA and MP3 you can do this by enabling Proxied streaming for
the Touch player. I'm not sure about AAC but I think by disabling
native AAC in FileTypes the AAC stream will terminate at PC and get
transcoded..

You cannot make BBC Radio applet part of your VPN unless your PC acts
as a router.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Cannot get audio using SQUEEZESLAVE-ASIO

2011-07-31 Thread dmkw

Hi All,

I'm trying to get the ASIO version of Squeezeslave working on my setup.
The normal version works okay, but I'd rather use ASIO as it by-passes
all the Windows stuff.

My mobo uses the on-board Realteck HD audio which I've got connected to
the AV receiver coax SPDIF. I've also got an ATI 5450 graphics card
which uses the HDMI connection to the receiver (Onkyo TX-NR807) and is
set as the default audio device. I've also installed ASIO4ALL.

I've configured a batch file that runs Squeezeslave-asio as :-

C:\Program Files\DKW\squeezeslave\squeezeslave-asio -R -r10 -o0
-m00:00:00:00:00:01 whserver

The ASIO4ALL green arrow appears in the systray, but there's no aduio
from the receiver.

Everything looks okay as shown on the attachment, but what am I
missing? Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dave.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] CB - Works by Composer problem in 7.6

2011-07-31 Thread PasTim

Erland,

I have done more research (I should have done before - sorry - Works by
Composer is my most used menu). This problem occurs for many (probably
all) CB menus when I get down to a WORK that contains a single quote.

SB Menus are fine playing songs with the single quote in the title
(which is a concatenation of WORK and MOVEMENT)

I surmise this is related to the handling of Custom Scan and
non-standard tags in the extravalue attribute. I'm using your
recommended Classical tags (plus a couple of my own), so I have WORK
and MOVEMENT in my custom tags.

For that reason I think you should not remove the entry from the extra

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

The squeezebox Server seems to crash in the Jive-interface when I hold
down the button on the track I want to play and then select Play in
the menu that pops up, but doesn't crash when I just single-click the
track to play it.

In the web interface the server chrash when I try to play the spotify
tracks from the left side off the web page, but not from the right
(playlist) side off the web page.

There also seems to be something wrong with resizing album art when a
track goes from the left to the right side of the web page.

Anybody who knows what is wrong?

FYI, I experienced the iPeng crash at startup syndrome in 2 instances:
- once after a full rescan, where some (all?) players had and empty
playlist.
- another time where all players had playlists, except perhaps the
iPad on iPeng player. Both iPeng on iPhone and on iPad were crashing.

The 1st time the issue was resolved by loading a playlist for players
via the web interface.
The 2nd time I could resolve the issue by restarting SBS.

2. I'm now more miffed about the lack of Podcasts on the Touch! There
doesn't seem to be any info on why it works via the web ui but not from
the Touch itself. A quite amazingly poor implementation which isn't
really declared anywhere (as far as I could find). Seem to be a couple
of refs. in the bug listings - but obviously nothing's been done to
change or fix it. (Think I'll just dump it from the menu - nothing
more irritating than an option which doesn't work, just sitting there
mocking at you!).

I presume you are using the Plugin menus and not the Applet menus.

I said proxied would make no difference for Flash/AAC only the WMA, MP3
streams.

Why are you hung up on the Radio 3 HD Flash/AAC stream - I reckon you
will get the same high quality from the Radio 3 live menu stream if
you have chosen to use native AAC even without the VPN.

The problem with Podcasts looks like a Squeezplay UI issue probably
associated with onebrowser changes for 7.6 (I think it might be
something known as touchtoPlay) . Since there is no bug report for it
- it has not been found before. Why not open a bug report and get
other users to vote for it.

The squeezebox Server seems to crash in the Jive-interface when I hold
down the button on the track I want to play and then select Play in
the menu that pops up, but doesn't crash when I just single-click the

In the web interface the server chrash when I try to play the spotify
tracks from the left side off the web page, but not from the right
(playlist) side off the web page.

There also seems to be something wrong with resizing album art when a
track goes from the left to the right side of the web page.

Anybody who knows what is wrong?

 Vegard

Artwork resizing is a known problem with 7.6.1 - wil fill be a fix
soon. Can you confirm whether you can cause a crash of the helper app
on a regular basis. If so could you post the helper app log from the
time it crashes. (I will post a new version soon which hopefully gives
some more debugging information, but interested in anything you can
show)

I got it working in the end. Those of you with an eagle eye might have
spotted that the active ASIO4ALL pin is set to Realtek HD Audio Output.
I had to set it to Realtek HDA SPDIF Out.

Still not sure why my debian arm server always uses spotifydnoflac when
libFLAC.so.8 is available. The helper logs

Code:

but provides no indication as to why or if spotifyd was tried and
failed.

Running spotifyd from a shell reports

Code:

[14:33:22.563331] main:356 error on bind listenfd: Address already in use

regarless of what port I tell the helper app to use. And then I am
always left with spotifydnoflac running.

i've got the same problem, i've noticed that my lazysearch is trying to

also, my song lazysearch allows me to right arrow, but album doesn't

OK so if you stop everything and then try to run ./spotifyd from its
folder then you should see why it won't load. Its possibly a glibc
version issue as spotifydnoflac also has some other features turned off
to make it most likely to work everywhere. (Note you need to stop all
other instances not just try to change its port numbers).

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2011-07-31 Thread Triode

New release posted which mainly provides bug fixes and some extra
debugging.

Main changes are:
- fix artwork resizing with 7.6.1
- add back ability to set country for top 100 lists (for people in
countries with no toplist data)
- add additional debugging information for helper app crashes
- fix bug with default preferences being lost

The additional debugging for helper app crashes will only be enabled
when the helper app logging level is set to Debug. Please enable this
if you suspect a problem and then monitor to see if the helper app
crashes. If it does please look at the helper app log and post
here/mail me with the contents. Please only mail any crash dump files
to me rather than posting here (instructions for this will be given in
the helper app log).

Well it means the first process did end - I don't know why though. It
didn't run for very long, so you should probably look at why it starts
and then stops.

:)

What does the helper app log say?

Set to debug, all I get is:

Code:

[17:55:20.677435] main:332
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/Spotify/Bin/arm-linux/spotifydnoflac
 1.4.5 started

Nothing about why spotifyd failed.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SlimNAS and SB 7.6.0

2011-07-31 Thread davemal

anyone ??

I have tried re-downloading the install file but still no good. It
detects fine but wont startup.

Is there a way to increase the server debug level ? At the moment I
dont get anything logged to the server.log file when I try to load
7.6.0

thanks

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SlimNAS and SB 7.6.0

2011-07-31 Thread davemal

well, instead of doing work that I am paid to do, I looked a little
deeper myself. Seems that this upgrade was a bit of a sh1tfight. The
general consensus was to go to a nightly build of 7.6.1 which I did but
it still didnt work.

Seems I am the only person running slimnas ? LOL

The good news is that now I am getting a log message in the server.log
file - this repeats 6 times..

[11-08-01 12:24:28.4583] Slim::Web::JSONRPC::requestMethod (441)
request not dispatchable!

Sounds suspiciously related to one of the errors in the wiki with http
redirects etc.

All I have time for now. Will try and look some more when I get a
chance.

Hopefully this is of some use to someone.
