I did not say all DAC but all decent sources to that DAC . People
attribute big differences to sources ...

The transcoding features may be in use more often than you think , for
example the standard setting for WAV is to transcoder to flac to
preserve bandwith ( a good thing if you use wifi ) the older
squeezeboxes don't play AAC.

And you can be surprised what's 24/96 I bougth an jazz album at
bandcamp that was 24/96 it was not in the description or anouced in any
way and priced no different than CD I have several examples . Some
artists just put up thier master and don't bother to make a 16/44.1
version as they never plan to release on physical media .

Enough OT the transcoding framework can throw surprises at you if you
tweak the settings to much and it's a prerequisite to DSD play .

Now I have very few DSD files as there is almost no content aviable and
of those they are usually also aviable in PCM hirez or cd res . So they
few that I have is DSD only releases .
So special DSD hardware is a waste , your going to listen to what :)
pick new hardware if you want but DSD capacity is not a good deciding
factor it's cool if it's there but not a deal breaker especially if you
have the DSD play plugin.

@sst I uploaded a new version for x86_64 nas. (1100).
This will update LMS with the latest commits. It might not solve the
webui problem, but it is worth a try.

And it's back in my settings screen today. Last night (after posting) I
thought it might be due to my ad blocker, but that was not the case. And
today the logo is back. So maybe it was WU issue. Either way, thanks for
looking into it.

I checked the link for that missing logo - I did indeed point it to
wunderground.com
(http://icons.wxug.com/logos/PNG/wundergroundLogo_4c.png). I see the
logo ok from my own settings screen (in Chrome browser), as well as from
the URL. I wouldn't worry about not seeing the logo, but it's a little
strange it's not showing correctly for you.

I think part of the problem is that it is audio is not supplied by an
internal Realtek card but a single Intel US15W chip which has integrated
all the peripherals - so you may need to find Intel's linux drivers and
check if they are being used. Personally I think you'll have guaranteed
success in less time with a USB DAC whereas if the standard linux
doesn't support U51W audio now many years after chip was released - it
may never be supported.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: WaveInput for Linux

2016-09-17 Thread ant!

A short update: I am now nearly sure it is a driver issue. I was in
contact with the daphile developer, and his answer regarding
permissions:

> Your problem is definitely not permission related as you log in as root.
> Daphile does not use /etc/asound.conf or ~/.asoundrc, so there isn't any
> default audio device defined. You should use ALSA hw interface directly,
> eg. hw:1,0

Further, for understandable reasons he will not support hardware with
old, proprietary drivers. So it's up to me to figure out how to install
the driver for the internal Realtek ALC662 card (or an USB soundcard I
still have, a M-Audio Transit USB, with drivers packed in madfuload).
But I will need to ask in some Gentoo forums, since I know more Debian &
Ubuntu, and it seems to work a bit different...

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] DSDPlay v1.0 output options through touch (downsampling)

2016-09-17 Thread drmatt

I'm not sure all DACs do sound the same (though I agree the differences
are extremely small), but that seems to be a holy war round here so I'm
not going to debate it further, just leave the OP to experiment at
leisure.

I am not into orchestral music so my requirements don't match the OPs
and I don't see any need to push beyond CD quality for the material I'm
listening to... Hence I have no experience of EDO or transcoding DSD on
LMS. So I'll go away now.. :)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiPlayer with DASH support - test version

2016-09-17 Thread ian_heys

Update 1.4.9 working fine for me bpa. Thanks.

Just in case anyone else has a Revo SuperConnect Radio, mine has become
BBC DASH live stream capable since a sofware update today (but it
doesn't seem to work on a static IP address any more).

Of course it's not my only device and I continue to use the plugin on my
other devices.

Thanks again.
