Fair enough. I use the My Music menus more often anyway.

It seems that if I browse Spotify using OMLI and the My Music menus,
this works. If I browse Spotify using the Spotty menus, it is missing.

I can confirm that removing and re-adding the home screen shortcut was
the trick for me. Clearing cache did not help. Makes me wonder what
other changes are missed if I don't redo the shortcut from time to time.

not entirely intuitive and not consistent with the behavior of the Touch

With Spotty, if I search for an artist and then select Top Tracks, the

I don't know much about UI design, so maybe I'm missing something here.
But, when using a desktop app, I have a "habit" of clicking a drop-down
menu to look at it and then clicking again (without moving my mouse) to
close it. In Material, if I do this on either the Players or Menu
drop-downs, I end up unintentionally selecting the first entry.

Is this behavior by design? If not, could the menus be repositioned to
avoid this? Perhaps Material has some guidelines for postioning these
menus or what the UX should be?

There's a really useful (but perhaps somewhat unknown) feature in the
default skin that I'd love to see in Material.

In the default skin, the "Choose Player" dropdown allows you to turn any
player on or off with a single click - without having to select that
player or open a new dialog or page. It would be handy to have this in
Material in both desktop and mobile versions. Perhaps the player icon
could be made clickable in Material?

Email sent. I should note that the behavior has slightly changed over
the last day or 2. Artists used to present a partial list. It now says
""
Add albums to your music, or follow an artist or playlist to populate

In my case, Tracks, Albums and Playlists work, but Artists is blank.
Very strange. Anyone have a solution to this?

that I can now use "My Music" in the official app, but still be able to
support sync and ip3k players using Triode's plugin? That would be

This is pretty cool Michael, but I'm a little confused about how the UI
is intended to be used. (I'm only using it from the webUI for now.)

I see how to create a mix by navigating to a track in my local library
and starting to play a mix (which then seems to only play Spotify tracks
after the initial local track). I also see how to edit the existing
recipes via settings. How do I create/save a new recipe?

I've thought about launching Squeeze Display when you connect it to the

nothing is playing but it sounds like you want something different ?

Could you explain what you like to see on the tablet when:
 1. It's in the dock and something is playing on the Squeezebox
 2. It's in the dock and nothing is playing on the Squeezebox
 3. It's not in the dock and something is playing on the Squeezebox
 4. It's not in the dock and nothing is playing on the Squeezebox

Haven't really thought it through, but I guess I mean:
1) A special screensaver with both a clock and artwork
2) The normal dock clock screensaver
3) and 4) Nothing

- Any plans to add support for internet radio artwork?
- It might be interesting to combine this with some sort of screensaver

Still not sure why my debian arm server always uses spotifydnoflac when
libFLAC.so.8 is available. The helper logs

Code:

but provides no indication as to why or if spotifyd was tried and
failed.

Running spotifyd from a shell reports

Code:

[14:33:22.563331] main:356 error on bind listenfd: Address already in use

regarless of what port I tell the helper app to use. And then I am
always left with spotifydnoflac running.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Public Radio Fan

2011-02-21 Thread Mark Miksis

I don't think the Public Radio Fan plugin has been maintained for a few
years. Some options to consider, although they don't quite offer
publicradiofan style browsing are:

- The built-in Radiotime support has quite good NPR listings. In fact,
a year or 2 ago, the guy who owns publicradiofan.com was on the
Radiotime Board of Advisors and Radiotime was receiving NPR program
data from him. I'm not sure if either of those are still the case, but
you can certainly use the Radiotime plugin for NPR.
- Try the NPR Radio plugin by bpa which is mostly an NPR podcast
directory and is actively maintained.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Sonos iPad app (free)

2010-09-29 Thread Mark Miksis

Sonos got some good press this morning (if you consider Engadget and
Gizmodo to be press) on their new free iPad app. Maybe the authors of
iPeng, Squeezepad and others should send them some info too.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] A review/critique of Slacker please?

2010-07-02 Thread Mark Miksis

Not a thorough review, but an anecdotal observation...

I use the free versions of both. I find the Slacker mix to be less
repetitive than Pandora. There are also some interesting controls in
Slacker to tweak the mix, but I don't think you can access these except
from the Slacker website.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Logitech Replaces Harmony Remotes with Free Apps for Google TV

2010-06-04 Thread Mark Miksis

Not Squeezebox related (yet), but still interesting:

Perhaps predictable, but nice to see. Good use of the Harmony branding
too. Fortunately we already have this thanks to iPeng, Squeezecommander
and others.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: MyPicks - OPML station list editor menu

2010-05-01 Thread Mark Miksis

I listen to a lot of internet radio and had used MyPicks/MyRadio a long
time ago. I have since switched to using RadioTime presets. This has
the advantage that it is now their job to track url changes and keep
everything updated. They have generally been quite responsive to
reports of broken links or requests for new stations. YMMV.

both Always and mobile only. I think the default was mobile

Hah, OK thanks. I can't find an SD card, so I'll just wait for new 7.6

Ah, OK. Now that I understand this, I don't think I'd use the phrase
datafeed isn't clear. It is quite clear - 'icon' represents the
complete weather conditions or forecast while 'skyicon' only represents
cloud cover. I would suggest that, except for aviation uses, the
'skyicon' is mostly irrelevant and that your applet should display only
the 'icon'. Note that this seems to be what the wunderground web pages
do.

Icons toggle if the datafeed isn't clear about the weather (so you might

Can you clarify this? What does datafeed isn't clear imply? Weather
changing during the day? Different data from different stations?
Something else?

Thanks for a great applet!
