Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotty - random stops after played song

Mine Touch is doing the same. I re-subscibed to Spotify and was
impressed until this happened. Could it be a problem with using the
Touch with a more modern router? I'm using win 10 and android.

So is there one that does have track forward and back,a good volume
control (if it's not my phone) and the ability to eject the USB device
without having to use the touch controls on the SBT itself? It's being
used in my car,so would be a godsend if it could be made a hide away and
controlled entirely from my phone or an Android tablet.

Oh and it's being used just as a music player with no radio etc.

Chris.I really like Orange Squeeze. The developer is very active and listens
if you have a problem. I don't use an usb card with my touch at home so
don't know about the eject part. There is a free version I think but
it's worth every penny once you get used to it. Never used it in a car
so ymmv.

A +1 for dbpoweramp. So many uses that are perfect for Squeezebox
owners. You can convert the actual tracks but not recommended unless you
are just doing some music for a device that doesn't support RG. Much
better to use tags. It also can write the new RG tags that I really
don't know much about. Seems to lower the dB's a bit more.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] NPR plugin

2009-12-31 Thread Nonreality

I've used this plugin for some time now and it has been fine. But now
only about 25% of the links are working. I have no understanding as to
why. I listened 3 days ago to one of the local channels and it worked
fine but now all I get is the annoucement that it is a streaming
channel. It seems that the handoff from the announcement to the channel
is messing up. I love this addon and I hope it can be fixed. Any help
would be great.
Thanks,
NR

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Problem with the Album Review plugin

2009-12-13 Thread Nonreality

It seems that the setting to ignore () is not working with 7.4 I add
the year of the album to many of my albums (1994) for example and now on
all of those it will not get an album review. I've tried it after
getting rid of the year and it works fine so I guess the setting to
ignore that isn't working correctly now. Not a huge deal, well actually
it is for me if I want to use it and I do really like being able to
bring up a review on my sb3 every once in a while, but not earth
shattering or anything. I really like the biography and album review
plugins so I hope this can be fixed. Thanks again Michael.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Album Review not removing [] ()

2009-06-13 Thread Nonreality

It's working with my albums that don't have brackets or () but any that
do come up with unable to find review. I have it set to remove them but
it doesn't seem to work now. Running the latest on 7.4 26982 on XP and
2.8 of Album Review. This is on albums that are not playing. If they
are playing, then from the web GUI it seems to work but not from the
remote and the SB3 display.

If your info page says MySql, you're running the trunk rather than the
sqlite/noweb build.. I think there was some issue with their build
 server building
both and writing the trunk one over the noweb one or something.. Could
 be wrong..
I grabbed one the other day and it was still mysql, then I re-grabbed

was the noweb version.. Shame they cant just build both and have 2

You probably already know this but it's not working with the new 7.4 as
of last night as far as I know. I'm assuming since the new database but
not sure. Just tried it right now and nothing from the web interface on
XP and firefox.
I can read the log file in notepad but not in the browser. It's logged
current songs but not sure why I can't read it in the web interface. I
tried opening it in explorer but said it had a top level error which I
have no idea what that means. Anyway some feedback for you. :)

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Music Ip stopped scanning.

2009-04-20 Thread Nonreality

I have no idea why but music ip has suddenly stopped scanning. I tried
to add some new music today and it didn't pick it up like it always
does when I start it. I have it set to watch my 2 music directories
and to scan on startup. I then tried to manually add them and it
looked like it was trying and then nothing. One time it showed that it
was validating 11 tracks but afterward there was nothing there. I
uninstalled and reinstalled and still nothing. I'm on XP and the beta
of musicip and never had any trouble before with it. Hopefully someone
out there has a clue for me.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Questions about Spicefly and MusicIP

2009-04-18 Thread Nonreality

I'm trying to make use of some of the more advanced features of Spicefly
but having some problems finding more in depth info. I'd like to know
how filters work. Do you make them in the musicip GUI and if so where
do you save them so SC can see them? Once you use a filter does
Musicip and SF then just use the results for mixes? Some filter
examples would really help.
Recipe's seem like filters, are they? Can you add more? If so how do
you do this?

Thanks for any help on this,
NR

mr_hyde;416407 Wrote:
 Hi NR,

some things depend on your system. recipes seem to work only on windows
systems. I have the Qnap 439 which is linux based. Nevertheless, i have
also installed the GUI on my windows PC. There i scan the music and
archive the fingerprints, since it is faster than on the NAS. I also
defined filters on the GUI and copied the database to the NAS. Then the
filters are also available there, since they can only be defined on the
 GUI.

For my filters, it is essential to use also trackstat and custom scan
 plugin.

I have rated all my titles with trackstat and custom scan transfers the
ratings and last played information to the mip database.

One of my filters selects only titles with more or equal 3 stars and
that are not played within the last three days. This works well, if you
select the filter via musicip or spicefly plugin.

In the recipes, you could do even more. Regarding the ratings, you
could define a ratio between 5,4 and three star ratings for instance
(this recipe is called Use Ratings). Nevertheless, this recipe is
probably not usefull for spicefly, since it takes only one song out of
 the mip playlist.

So am I right about how the filters work? Do you save them to a
specific folder or does musicip have a default that works with SC? I'm
not sure I really want to get into ratings. I have over 20k in tracks
and no ratings. I think it would be way too much hassle to try and rate
them.
Thanks,
NR

mr_hyde;416418 Wrote:
If you have a windows system (SC and MIP on the same system nad
accessing the same mip database), it should be ok, that you setup the
filters in the gui. then they are stored in the mip database and you
are able to select them in SC.

This should probably also work with a linux pc when the gui is working.
If you have a NAS, you have to perform a little trick the enable the
filters, since you can set up them only via the gui which is usually
 not working on the NAS.

Yes I'm on XP, sorry I forgot to add that last time. I've played
around with a few filters and kind of get it although I couldn't get
the bit rate one to work right. I thought I could put greater than or
less than 400kbs and either get flac or mp3 but it didn't seem to work
as I got all kinds of bit rates lower and higher than I put in. I'll
have to play around more with it. Thanks for the pointers. Maybe we
can get some others to post ideas they have made for filters.

Let's see??

Lazy Search: replaces the SC search, easy and fast.
Music IP and SpiceFly: Makes intelligent playlists and Spicefly uses
Music Ip to pick song after song for continuous play.
Ipeng: Squeeze Center remote control for Iphones and Touch.
Status First: Such a simple idea and one that should be standard. If
you hit shuffle, repeat or sleep on the remote it shows you the status
instead of changing them.
Biography and Album Review(kind of the same, same author anyway) Self
explanatory but uses All Music Guide for the info.
Ok that was 7 but in a way 5 so I'm leaving some good ones off for
others to mention. :)

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Sending music from Musicip

2009-03-31 Thread Nonreality

Something I've never seen mentioned here, and if it has, please excuse
me, is the fact that you can directly send playlists and music from the
MusicIp GUI to SqeezeCenter. You just set up in preferences-Send To
Squeezecenter as your choice. Then any mix you make you just hit the
send to button and it will start playing on your Squeezebox. You can
highlight songs from your library and send those too. Kind of nice
feature for running you Squeezebox from your computer and a bit easier
than the SC interface for some things.

It's an easy way to install plugins. You'll get a list of plugins
available online, with description, version etc. Add it with two clicks
of the mouse. No need to download, search the plugins folder, unpack
 etc.

Can you still manually install them

No. It's optional. You can still go throught the whole lot of the old
 hassle if you prefer :-).

Never thought it was much of a hassle but this does sound nice. So
does it work with all plugins or do they have to be written for it at

Softsqueeze? It's really not your problem is it? The need is it to
work on your equipment and anything else is a bonus to the people that
use the other stuff. Maybe I'm missing something here with the people
that complain to you.

sure it shows up in your settings for plugins and then you need to put
your internet xm radio login and password in the options for the
plugin. These are what you use to access xm from your computer. If
you don't already have access on your computer you'll have to go to
xmradio.com and set that up. It's free if you have a xm account

HowardHoward, I found a way to get it to work. Not elegant but it seems to
work for me. Dig down in the xmradio plugin directory. Under
Xmradio/Html you will see that there are setups for all the skins.
Rename the xmradio/html/default/plugins/xmradio to xmradio1 or
something just in case you need it. Then copy the classic over to that
folder. So it's the Xmradio/html/Classic/plugins/xmradio copy the
xmradio folder at the end to the xmradio/html/default/plugins/ folder.
I'm just mixing two styles together but the point is that it works and
you can use the default skin for everything else and the classic for
just the XM radio part. :)

all slots, etc. You only need to concern yourself with the screensavers
that have specific durations, and those you intend to use with button
control. For instance, I don't use a When Idle screensaver, so on my
system I don't bother with the SS slots for that. But for the others I
do, even though I normally only use two timed/active savers for When
Playing, and only one for When Off.Ok that what was messing me up. There were
 no screensavers showing up in
the slots, just times. I figured that it should show a screensaver and
then you would set what you want. Maybe I'm not starting right because
of the differences with 7.2 I'll look at it again maybe I have another

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XMradio log on problems

2008-08-09 Thread Nonreality

Let me think back on this. Did you update the install.xml in
squeezecenter/server/plugins/xmradio (or something like that)to
maxversion 7.1+ ? Make sure too that you are using the 2.x version of
the plugin. Then in the settings menu under plugins put your login info
and whatever else it needs. Then probably restart the SC. Hope this
helps. Also make sure that your firewall or antivirus isn't blocking
things.

About to report abandoning Alien BBC altogether, I chanced upon bpa's

I hope some of this will be useful to others and thank you bpa for
providing the pointers and advice.I think that you need a new router. This
 problem has been posted before
and it was the router not assigning ip's correctly if I remember
correctly. You could try to do a complete reset on it and see if that
helps but if not try a new one.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Moose

2008-08-04 Thread Nonreality

Kind of a flaw in Moose with playlists. You can't open one to see
what's in it without playing it. It would be nice to be able to open
it to remind you what's in it before sending it to the player.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Lyrics plug-in pquestion : Carly Simon instead of Simon and Garfunkel

 Hi all !

I've installed Lyrics plug-in yesterday and so far I like it very
 much.
English is not my native language so it's a tremendous help.

Works great with all the albums I tried last evening (Tori Amos,
 Radiohead and some other).

The only problem is Simon and Garfunkel where Lyrdb retuns lyrics of
 Carly Simon for every song.

I checked the tags (tracks are FLAC encoded by dbPower) and it looks
 fine
 for instance

 Artist : Simon Garfunkel
Album : Bridge Over Troubled Water
Track : Bridge Over Troubled Water

Is it Lyrdb problem that it uses the first word of artist as primary
key or something wrong with my tagging ?
Should I change the artist to SimonGarfunkel to cheat it ?

 Any advise ?

Where is this plugin? I haven't seen it before and it sounds kind of
cool. Does it just show in the web browser or in the player?

 I hope someone can help.

I installed 7.1, not knowing it would break my two favorite plugins: XM
 Radio and Lazy Search.

I have been reading all afternoon on how I can fix this. For some
 reason I *can't* re-install SC 7.0.1. I get through the installation
fine, but SC is just stuck trying to start, but never does. So, look
 like I'm stuck with 7.1.

Anyways, I have used and XML editor to change the Max version to 7.1+,
but that does not help. Also, I have switched from the default skin to
 Classic. Still no luck.

I'm having XM withdrawal..Wow that didn't happen to me. Mine still works but
 it did with the
earlier 7.1's too. Hope you get it all to work my friend.

 Nevermind, I got it.

Had to completely reinstall SC 7.1 and remove all of the old folders.
Seems to be working now, just having to go through and re-do all my

Is there a way to store SC and player settings in case you want to
import them in the future? I've had to reinstall SC from scratch
several times and it is a bit of a pain to get my player settings back
like I like them.Sorry I should have read more before posting. I wonder if
 your virus
setting or firewall are getting in the way of updating your SC. It's
got to be one or the other I would think.

Got rid of the addon and just ran the integrated lastfm and it fixed

Just wondering, why doesn't it show your posts in the top corner, first
time I've ever seen that.
