But it is an old extension that feels a little bit quirky.

The problem is the Perl version, not (yet) the DSM version. Your Perl
version has most likely been upgraded to version 5.28 ?
One option is to rollback Perl to version 5.24 and turn off auto-update
of Perl (and DSM).
Other and better long-term solutions are installing LMS via Docker on
your NAS or install LMS on some Raspberry Pi device instead.

Did a manual update of my LmsUpdate to latest found on

I did a couple of other observations yesterday and today. The Station
art for main channel is shown fine on my SB Touch, RPi3 player and on
LMS web-interface. However station art for Eclectic24 channel doesn't
show on my RPi3. I suspect it might be because PNG-format ain't
supported on Max2Play's Jivelite player software. Would it be possible
to include it as a JPG instead (I assume it is part of the plugin) ?
Yesterday I also noticed the RPi3 was showing Album Art perfectly fine
in the beginning. But after I had done a number a software updates
including LMS792->LMS800 and updating various software on the RPi3
player I lost most Album Arts during the evening. It could be a
coincidence it happened after updating software, but I did some
investigations which implied it was dependent on filename of the
album-art files. It looks like cover-art files ending on something like
"._SL300_.jpg" or "._SL75_.jpg" doesn't show on the RPi3. Maybe the last
underscore before the (last) extension is the problem, maybe it is
because of the double extension (two times dot in the filename).
I can't believe your plugin is to blame for this (and cover-art still
shows nicely on LMS web UI and on SB Touch), and I suspect JiveLite
again (which was among the software getting an update). Once I have done
a bit more investigations on subject to confirm conclussion, I will
report problem to Max2Play or whoever is responsible for their version
of JiveLite.
However those ._SLxxx_.jpg files are served from Amazon, and I just
happen to know that if you remove the "._SLxxx_" part from the
filenames, you usually get a higher resolution version of the cover-art
file. And I'm guessing it will probably also work with my RPi3 player
then. Of course adding another hack like that also increases risk of
something breaks one day. But maybe worth considering?

Have just installed your plugin. At first I was a bit confused. Couldn't
find the plugin in My Apps. Then I started my existing Eclectic24
"bookmark" in Favorites, and the artwork and trackinfo immediately
appears! So the plugin automatically detects and hooks up on any playing
audio-stream I guess? Nice :-)
And track-info actually appears to change pretty fast, sometimes
immediately. Also very cool I can see trackinfo for The Morning Becomes
Eclectic show on the main channel.
I cannot see where I can find the Label info. But maybe I haven't
studied the More area good enough. And anyway, it is the least important
detail.
I have two players. An RPi3 in the livingroom and a "real" SB Touch in
the bedroom. I noticed the trackinfo seems to change less reliably on a
player if it is not the one I have selected in LMS-UI on my
webbrowser/PC. It could be a coincidence, I will try investigate it a
bit more... But usually I'm only listening on player in livingroom and
have my LMS-UI connected to that. So not much of an issue for me in
reality.

Until recently 'KCRW Eclectic24'
(https://www.kcrw.com/music/shows/eclectic24) had "built-in" track-info
in their audiostream - At least when streamed via TuneIn Radio. However
track-info disappeared a month or two ago.
The station is great for discovering new music, and is generally very
much in my taste. And I greatly miss playing the station with "now
playing" track-info on my squeezebox.

new Eclectic24 plug-in by replacing stream and feed URLs and do a few
adjustments to json parsing adating to the format from KCRW's json-feed?
Would be nice if scrobbling in "radio mode" (not permanent stored in my
last.fm profile) was supported too. But could easily live without that
:-)
Any such thing out there which somebody maybe could modify to work with
KCRW Eclectic 24?
I have no knowledge about LMS plugins or Perl myself, but *maybe* I
could even create one myself if there was a "skeleton plug-in" I was
allowed and able to modify like described.

I just did a complete clear+rescan of Media Library. I haven't added new
music to collection in a long time, so haven't done any rescans either.
But clear+rescan seems to have fixed the problem.

After having followed your discussion and MAI was updated, I just tried
doing a complete re-scan for first time in very long time.
The result was good. Almost as many "hits" in artists as before, but it
is missing some that was found before the changes. For the following
artist artwork ain't found, but I'm pretty sure there used to be. They

packages or Perl. Nor any knowledge on the architecture of LMS, and only
very little Linux knowledge. I must also admit that I haven't found/read
the other threads you refer to.
But I have downloaded and extractet content and "sub-content" (tar and
tgz archives) of LmsUpdate for my NAS
(http://server.pinkdot.nl/sspks/packages/LmsUpdate-x86_64-7.9.1-1503129892.spk)
and done the same thing for various unix/Debian nightly build packages
on http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.9 to take a closer
look and compare content. And I see similarities.
Would creating a new updated "LmsUpdate" be as simple as extracting the
content of current LmsUpdate and replace a specific set of folders and
files with similar from one of the "official" (community) nightly build
archives - and pack it together again?
I fully respect a simple short "No" as an answer, if it ain't that

devices, and on both devices they said they were playing music in FLAC
format. But they probably only tell the "original" format, or did I do

I just tested playing 24bit/96kHz music from my home collection on my
mobile via VPN/4G. Transcoding with LAME should be triggered by this
(everything with bitrate >320kbit/s should be transcoded with LAME when
streaming to my mobile devices). I can't see the bitrate or format on
OrangeSqueeze/SqueezePlayer, but since it played flawlessly, I assume
the transcoding happens as expected.

No, I don't. And I've never had it.
On my previous Netgear NAS I could run LAME transcoding at max quality,
somehow that doesn't seem to work reliable on the current Synology setup
(even though it should be a newer and faster CPU on the Synology). But
it works as long as I keep it at a medium quality.
Admittedly it is some times ago I used LAME transcoding, but it has been
working (with previously May version of LmsRepack). I can verify it
still works later today...

I cannot comment on Max2Play vs piCorePlayer or other solutions. I have
only tried this. I also only use it as a player, but yes it can work as
both player and LMS server at once if needed. The only catch I see is
that the player cannot connect directly to the mysqueezebox.com
cloudserver because it's not official Logitech hardware. No problem for
me though. Haven't used mysqueezebox.com in years. And LMS plugins which
depends on an account or configuration on mysqueezebox.com also still
works. It's just the direct connection of player that isn't possible.
If you purchase one of these kits you get a free 3 months Max2Play
license included, which is probably needed for the initial setup. Once
you have the right plugins installed (actually comes 99% preconfigured
with kit), you don't need the license anymore.
You probably get more "street credit" for a piCorePlayer solution. I
just purchased the Max2Play kit for convenience :-)

There's an issue seeking within a track which is only fixed in lately
LMS791 builds, but besides that you should be able to find, install and
run Spotty perfectly well on older versions of LMS.

ReadyNAS Ultra 2 to a Synolgy NAS primarily because of the missing
support of IO::Socket::SSL on the ReadyNAS. But this solved the issue,
so now I have the choice of 2 NAS'es to run my LMS on :-)
