Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] announce: ShairTunes2W - Airtunes on LMS (forked version with Windows support)
I noticed that the piCorePlayer has a setting called Shairport-sync under the tweaks tab. I guess that ShairTunes2W exposes all Squeezebox players instead of just a single player? Anyway, I did experiment a bit with the ShairTunes2W plugin but experienced a few annoying quirks: after a while of use and inactivity I need to reboot my piCorePlayer because there is no more sound or sometimes there is no more artwork on the player. After a player reboot this all works again. Anyone experience the same issues? I have the same feeling when I try using an Android device; it just doesn't do it for me. But that is because I'm used to iOS devices. Last year I bought a Mac Mini for my photo editing purposes. Hi Greg The ping was a good hint! Thanks! The ping I gave was from a WIFi PC to the PI Zero I did other measures from a PI on Ethernet I've got around 5ms, not so good as yours (I've not longer have the results) but as good as another PI ZERO I have a little bit further from this AP. But when I plug the amp, I went back to issues :-( I moved the picore to another amp (Denon PMA-480R) with the same distance from an AP (same model) And now it works fine (testing are on going from 1 hour, with no issue) I could have rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 1.805/5.090/21.629/1.944 ms So the issue seems to come from the amp SMSL SA50 (https://hifireference.com/reviews/smsl-sa50-review/). I need to make more testing trying to put the amp "far" from the picore, or perhaps it is more the power... Appreciate your help. I tried like a million combinations with those keys but no luck. But I found a way around it. I selected "file" for "Request Body" of the "Get contents of" command and selected a variable for the "file". Prior to the "Get contents of" command I lookup a text file on my local http server which contains the string "{"id":1,"method":"slim.request","params":["aa:aa:45:03:00:73",["playlist","play","/mnt/music/Geluiden/Ding-dong-sound.mp3"]]}". And I assigned it to the variable that I then pass onto "file" for "Request Body". Okay, this is not the most elegant solution but it works! In regards to Pushcut: it lets you create an action that executes the post message. But the action is represented by a button that the user has to push on the notification Pushcut sends out. The copy url thing is indeed what you need to do. but this url is pasted in a "Get contents of" command in a HomeKit shortcut. That triggers the PushCut notification. When the notification appears on your phone, you need to pull it down and that reveals the action button of the action created in Pushcut. When the user presses the button it will then send the post message. And that is not what I want. Anyway, I found a way that works. It is a pity how Apple treats HomeKit. HomeKit supports shortcuts but this is a subset of the Shortcuts app from Apple. I was able to create a working shortcut in the Shortcuts app. But due to the poor shortcuts implementation in HomeKit I couldn't get it to work in HomeKit. There are some things I really don't understand in Apple's way of reasoning. Why just not integrate the Shortcuts app into HomeKit; that would make HomeKit a hell of a lot more powerful... And so on. Great, thanks again Michael !! I tried this with Pushcut and it works... well kinda... I mean, Pushcut can run an action that does exactly what we need. I was able to play a din-dong file on my HomePod Mini. I used this request message: {"id":1,"method":"slim.request","params":["",["playlist","play","/mnt/music/Geluiden/Ding-dong-sound.mp3"]]} Success... or maybe not... Only problem is that the action needs to be triggered by human interaction. That's not what I want... Now I turned my attention back to Homekit itself. There is a way to do this with a Homekit Shortcut. Things here is that the Homekit user interface strips the message down into keys. To illustrate what I mean, here's a screenshot: 33387 I would follow the logic as I used with Pushcut: "Get contents of" is the "http://:9000//jsonrpc.js" Method = POST Question is: how do I fill in the rest? I guess I need to break the message up into different keys (?). so "id" would be a key and "method" would be a key and "params" would be a key? Ok, so I did a bit more digin... There are possibly two ways we can interface LMS from Apple HomeKit: 1) It is possible to send SSH scripts from HomeKit automations. So if there would be a way to have LMS command line interface available though SSH then we have a solution. Anyone know if this is possible with LMS? 2) By using Pushcut it is possible to trigger an URL. So we could create HTML pages that would telnet into LMS CLI. It was quite unreliable with Tahoma. I will have a look at your plugin. Do you have some more info on how it works and how to configure it? In the mean time I'm also exploring the following options (in regards to the alarm triggering an automation): 1) if the LMS alarm routine could send an HTTP request then I could use Pushcut to trigger an automation. I currently use a Pushcut notification for my doorbell which works great. 2) reverse the situation: instead of using LMS alarms I could use a HomeKit automation that would make an LMS player stream a radio or playlist at a given time (the alarm time). The automation would then also switch on the bedside lights. The above need some more investigation though. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] LMS and Apple
I would also like to see a integration between the Apple ecosystem and LMS. But to me it is not so much about Siri. To me it is more about HomeKit and automations. For example: the morning alarm plays music or radio station from LMS (piCorePlayer) and then runs an automation to turn on the bedside lights. It is stuff like that I'm mostly interested in. Would this be possible with the Home Automation thing that was mentioned before? The Home Automation webside is not very explanatory but immediately dives in to technical stuff without really explaining what it does or how it works. Maybe LMS could trigger a action or shortcut by using Pushcut ('Pushcut - Triggers & notifications that kick off your automation' (https://www.pushcut.io/))? Siri would be great if possible for those short commands such as "turn off bedroom player" or "turn down volume", etc. But not having Siri integration is not huge thing to me. I've really like the Material Skin plugin. It provides a modern and intuitive look to the LMS pages. It has become my default skin when I use my computer to control my Squeezeboxes. I was wondering if the same kind of look and feel would be possible for Jivelite? My livingroom player has the 7 inch RPI display attached and mostly displays the now playing screen. The current Jivelite screens look a bit outdated. It would be great to have a Material Skin like look and feel to those screens. No idea if this is possible? CD's ripped with iTunes always work fine with piCorePlayer. Files bought through Qobuz sometimes don't want to play on piCorePlayer while they play just fine in iTunes. When that happens I simply have iTunes rewrite the file. After that, they play fine on piCorePlayer. I can't remember the exact phrasing but someone on this forum (a long time ago) mentioned that ALAC files can be constructed in different ways. And piCorePlayer seems to be picky at how they are constructed. Hey guys, I'm using my AppleTV (2nd gen) to stream TV from my iPad. Ipeng is installed on that iPad. I noticed that whenever I stop streaming TV that an Ipeng screen appears on my TV. This is actually a great feature! But it would be useful if the content would be correct. I attached a screenshot to demonstrate. My AppleTV is showing a different song than the one who is actually playing. I have no idea how Ipeng works with the AppleTV. An I'm probably doing something wrong but I have no idea what. ALAC files play fine on my iPhone with iPeng (latest versions). Maybe there is something else at play. I've had some issues with ALAC files and piCorePlayer a while back. +1 on the widget thing; it's an awesome feature ! Thank you for that. Question on another topic: I quite often use the "random album" feature from LMS. While browsing though the list I sometimes re-trigger it to show me another list of random albums. When I re-trigger the feature it would be great that the view would be at the top of the list instead of the "current" position in the list (hope I'm explaining this clearly). So, recapping First, install the youtube plugin on your slimserver normally Second, make sure you have Mozilla::CA, Net::SSLeay, IO::Socket::SSL and JSON modules installed from CPAN (see instructions above or README.txt in my ZIP file) Third, copy the ProtocolHandler.pm, Signature.pm and JSInterp.pm files from my updated ZIP file into your slimserver plugin directory (/opt/ssods4/var/home/SqueezeboxServer/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/YouTube on my QNap NAS), replacing the original ProtocolHandler.pm that came with the youtube plugin I hope this works for other people too - I'm very unlikely to have any time to further hack on this myself if further problems are found, so perhaps the original author who wrote the youtube plugin will see this message and be able to integrate the changes into their officially hosted plugin in some nicer manner. But I'm probably going to add a failsafe vs. fast export option. Exporting 2000 items at once usually is much faster than doing it in small batches. mherger wrote: I found a few smartmix entries but I don't quite understand what they mean. Hope they make more sense to you. Do you need anything else? Yes, they make sense: there's a timeout trying to upload the data to TEN. You could try a few things to work around this. Please edit the Importer.pm or API.pm file (check Settings/Information for the path where it's stored), then re-try a scan: - Importer.pm: there's a MAX_UPLOAD value at the top. Reduce this value to eg. 500 - API.pm: around line 350 there's the timeout set to 30s for http requests. Double that value. - API.pm: in _getResponseBody, there's this line: $@ $log-error($@); Add another one like this: $@ $log-error(Data::Dump::dump($response)); This would either work around the timeout, or give us more information about the failure. -- Michael Hi Michael, The SmartMix plugin is now working after implementing the above. Ive been playing around with a Wandboard in the car running LMS. Im using iPeng as a player (and remote) connected by BT to my car audio system. It all works very nice but sometimes when I get into my car, the Apples Music app starts playing. I guess the car system is sending a play command to my phone when it reconnects. I was wondering if theres a way to have iPeng registered as default music app instead of Apples Music app. This way iPeng would receive the play command. I plan to fix that some day but it's not the problem Moffedille has. His problem is that the Squeezebox starts showing mixed language menus which is clearly a SqueezePlay bug and one I've seen a number of discussions on in the past, I just thought it was fixed because I'm no longer seeing it myself which is why I wondered whether it's related to an old server version or specific plugins. The problem happens if the iPhone is set to a different language than the server. The iPeng will request menus in the language the iPhone/iPad it's set to, independent of whether it's fully translated into that language or not. Unless you use the use English menus setting in which case it requests English. Okay, clear! Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SqueezePad and Alarms
bluegaspode;670361 Wrote: Hi Pascal, yes this is a known (but to be honest long forgotten issue). Also noone ever pointed this out (until now), which I guess means noone actually is ever using these menus or if so does not care. ;) For sure the alarm function is likely to be used most by users of the SB Radio and alarms is something that doesn't need changing too often. That's likely why no one really complained. Nevertheless it is annoying when it doesn't work properly. -- Pascal Hibon 2 x SB3, 1 x SB Boom and 1 x SB Radio - all wireless ReadyNAS NVX running SBS iPeng on iPod Touch. SqueezePad on iPad. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SuperDateTime translations
The translation string option could be interesting. We could compile a list of translations strings. And whenever the SuperDateTime cant find a translation in the transaltions.txt file, it simply displays the string it got from weather.com. This way, users can fill up their translations.txt file gradually. The transaltions.txt could look like this: Partially Clouded|Gedeeltelijk Bewolkt Fog|Mist Rain|Regen etc. The advantage of this approach is that it works for any language and the users are responsible for compiling their own translations.txt file. Users could even share their translations tables with each other on this forum. Would this be difficult to implement? -- Pascal Hibon Pascal Hibon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7969 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=66510 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SuperDateTime on ReadyNAS NV+
For those who might me interested, I got it to work. It seems that the SqueezeCenter that comes with the ReadyNAS firmware is a stripped down version. The SuperTimeDate pluging is calling libraries that are not installed with the default SC install on the ReadyNAS. So if you want to run specific plugins, you need to download and install the full version of SqueezeCenter that is available from the Logotech website. All is running fine now (including my two additional plugins). -- Pascal Hibon Pascal Hibon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7969 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=66465 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
[SlimDevices: Plugins] SuperDateTime translations
I noticed that it is possible to create translation tables in the strings.txt file. These are the various text displayed on the webpages in SC for SuperDateTime. Is there a way to translate the text that is actually displayed on the players screen? I mean the text like Today: Partially Clouded etc. I would like to translate those messages into Dutch. -- Pascal Hibon Pascal Hibon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7969 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=66510 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
[SlimDevices: Plugins] SuperDateTime on ReadyNAS NV+
I have manually installed two SC plugins: PowerSwitch II and SuperDateTime on my ReadyNAS NV+. I copied the folder structure of the SuperDateTime plugin that I had running on my old file server to my NV+. This action did not seem to copy over my existing settings. So I reconfigured the plugin through the IE. Thing is, the SuperDateTime screen saver doesnt display anything the screen remains dark. Under 5.8.2 you can definitely set the format strings for each line under the player settings (so that you can have different settings per-player). My solution, which seems to work, is to configure the display to be in Fahrenheit rather than Celsius, ie use %e instead of %E in your player display format string. For me, at least, this does then report the correct temperature in Celcius(!). Don't ask me why, but it worked for me. Stuart Thank you Stuart for your reply. Version 5.8.2 doesnt have the ability to configure the separate lines anymore. It only has a couple of dropdown boxes to select the default units. I have tried it on Fahrenheit as well but it doesnt change. I guess I will downgrade to version 5.5.1 again. At least that worked fine. Thank you. Thank you for pointing that out to me. I didnt notice the SuperDateTime entries in the player section. Works ok now.
