I have not done this and it is a long overdue , thank to BPA and ronnie
for al the work and help they offer to many on here and other forums in
using the LMS and Logtitech related players . Without the general hard
work and willingness to get things fixed many of the plug ins (BBC ,
Spotify to name but two) would have gone and left lots of users very
unhappy . While some seem to feel the LMS is a poor piece of software I
know this to be wrong . Most of the problems that occur are caused by
Providers and not the software at all . Given that LMS is still a free
software the back up and work done on the nasic program and all plug ins
by various members makes this in my view the best supported Server
Software with real responsive and inclusive help not only fixing the
issue but letting you know what was the problem .

So better late than never - Thank you

Although Ronnie may dismiss his participation, the cohort of active
users do a great job fielding questions with calming responses,
providing early heads up on problems and test fixes with constructive
feedback - all of which eases the load and helps maintain the plugin.

Haven't been back to Toronto for many years now but it's still a
possibility as I have a nephew living there now working in a

To expand on most recent BBC "issue".

It looks BBC HLS streams had a small valid change to the m3u8 file
format but only for Listen Again streams. The BBCiPlayer HLS code broke
because the implementation is only a subset of HLS spec based on what
BBC had used.

Users typically affected have BBCiPlayer Settings "On Demand Stream
preference" with HLS as first in the list. Changing the preference to
"DASH > HLS > MP3 > FlashAAC" should make it work and also handle some
v. old BBC programs (via BBCiPlayerExtra) which may be in Flash.

I have a fix to the HLS which will be rolled into a 1.6.1 which has a
number of other small fixes. I am testing 1.6.1 and there are few more
"bugs" I would like to fix. As there is a workaround, I see no need to
quickly release it.

it to DASH.BBC made a change last week which broke the HLS part for

I have the same problem, Steve. But solved ( sort of ) by simply hitting
the “skip to next item” double arrow button whilst waiting for the
“connecting” status to end. Works every time. Good luck with it - until
a permanent solution is found. By the way this is using a SQ radio.

Stevie, is this with listen again on BBC iPlayer extras or live
broadcast?

You might want to try a hard reset on the SBTouch, just pull the plug
from the wall socket, wait a short while and then reconnect it.

I guess I was too impatient! I left it over lunchtime and went back and
it is working fine.
My LMS is on an external hard drive (Qnap) and I think it takes longer
to clear the cache.

the 6Musc XML feed is working and OK for me.

Same code is used for all Listen Again so problem must be with data from
retrieving the 6Music xml feed.

All I can guess is that you had an error reading the 6music XML feed
(i.e. first time into 6music Listen Again menu) and this error has now
been cached. So each time you try - LMS uses the cached entry. Perhap
you tried 6music just as system was coming on-line.

Either wait for LMS cache to timeout (e.g. 15-30mins ) usually or else
stop LSM, delete LMS cache.db and then restart LMS.

Instead of a list of programmes, this is what I get when I click on BBC
6 Music,

25753

I can't understand why all other stations work and not 6Music.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiplayer play it again list shows 404

2018-10-07 Thread VFRBOB

Hello

I have been trying to follow along with this "404 Not Found" issue for a
while as I was able to listen to past programs through iPlayerExtra.
Anyway decided to try and fix it today since it's Thanksgiving here in
Canada and while I'm waiting for the family to arrive I have idle hands
which is probably not a good thing as I'm now rather lost and confused
…

Here's what I did …

On my Windows 7 PC removed LMS completely, reinstalled it and updated
it to LMS to 7.91 - 1522157629

Added BBC iplayer plugin, it is now BBC iPlayer (v1.31 alpha3) and I can
listen to BBC live streams through Live BBC (Non UK) but get '404 Not
Found' when I try listen again.

I have tried to add the plug in for BBC iplayerExtra but after numerous
attempts to install it will not add.

PLEASE all I want to be able to do is use listen again in the BBC
iplayer. Any help would be greatly appreciated as being an expat the BBC
player is vital.

Best regards

Steve

I've been having the 404 problem, but strangely only with the images
presented by the BBC, when using the LMS web UI. My my Orange Squeeze
android app was just showing empty lists.

I've running LMS 7.9.1 for a while, added the latest BPA repo and
restarted LMS and all is well on the LMS web UI as well as the Orange
Squeeze app.

Thanks so much!

I've set the V1.6 of BBCiPlayer to require a minimum of 7.7 because of
odd problems with https URLs with older versions of LMS.
It's possible it may now work with older version but it is then
dependent on the BBC not changing URLs to https which they have been
doing progressively.

Can you not upgrade from 7.5 ?

With "old" http streaming - data is read until buffer was full and then
passed to player, with DASH Audio comes in 3.2 sec chunks so my "delay
settings" forces getting an initial chunk of data.
On a single core system scheduling of processes becomes sensitive -
especially at the start when a decoder may not have not have enough data
to complete decoding some frames then it will pass control back to
another process.

The Touch is not synced, 2 Radios not synced - all subject to delay.
SqueezePlay on Win7 - no delay but transcoded to flac).

Ah-ha - solved! DASH livestream was set to lowest bitrate! (No idea
why because on demand is at highest).

Start now takes about 5 secs.

I just checked an old Squeezeplug on Pi Model B v1 -which has same
processor as pi Zero.

Live streams non UK 96kbps. Higher speed streams should reduce the
delays to start up as delay is due to data shortage.

For a SBR receiver, There was a delay but settign of 5sec/255 usually
means live stream start within 10 secs - typically 5 and no subsequent
breaks.
If SBR was synced to a Radio - then delay was longer - and needed dealy
setting of min 10secs to get quick styart - if delay setting was set to
5 then start up delay was actuallyt 15sec. So synced player have a bad
effect.

To know if transcoding is happening.

If you can do a pstree command when playing a stream then the faad
subprocess is obvious with somehting like the following

Code:

  --squeezeboxserver -- squeezeboxserve --- sh -+- faad
  `-flac

I have a 1.6.1 cosmetic update due and I hope to start a new thread and

confusing.

This 404 thead was really only for the 404 error.

I have found the delays are really only needed for some configurations
of Windows based LMS. Is you LMS windows based and if so what
spec./configuration

> While listening to Radio 4, I noticed a brief display change between

Because Windows sytem needed a long delay to start up - the code to
detect "skip back" thinks you have skipped back 1 min (it estimates
delay from packet timecode vs player output & decode buffer fullness -
not accurate) but as stream plays, if not skipped back , the player
buffers fullness decreases and so delay is nto apparent. "actual data"
is obtained from 2 spearate feeds which are polled every 30 secs - if
there are delays on it (e.g. network problems) then there will be a
delay in displaying metadata - so perhaps two problems conflated.

All these indicate that the BBC servers are slow in respondign - which
varying between no reply (30 sec timeout) to 8sec - 1.5 secs delays -
expected delay would 80-150ms. Report are only made for packet slower
than 800ms - a high bar but enough to highlight a prohblem. The player
should not be upset by these as long as they do not happen too often.

Basically
1. You can do nothing about BBC delays unless your ISP connection or
setup is "special" and are using something like a VPN, proxy server,
aggressive security software, repeaters, barbed wire, satellite link or
perhaps special system setup which could affect networks such as a VM.
2. If you do not have a WIndows sytem then startup "delay" need to be
looked at. If you have a Windows LMS system especially 8 or 10 then I
cannot investigate until I need to get a Windows 10 system.

If you haven't updated to 1.6 then some programmes will have a broken
image - not relevant if using older SB3/BOOM/Transporter type players.

Hi,

I hope you can help. I've followed the steps above, several times,
including shutting down the server, deleting
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/cache.db, and restarting.

I still don't get the 30 (or 15) day listings.

My server version is 7.9.1, iPlayer 1.6.0.

Have I missed something crucial?

Thanks a lot.

Stephen.

Stop LMS and clear cache.db and then restart LMS

as per post #241

Since you are using 1.4.* in The WebUI Settings/Plugin tab - at the
bottom you probably have an url like

This URL needs to be replaced by the URL
HTTP://DOWNLOADS.SOURCEFORGE.NET/PROJECT/BPAPLUGINS/BETARELEASE-REPO.XML

and then click Apply. The plugin list should be updates and a
BBCiPlayer entry will have 1.6.0 - it may need tot be "activated". If
you do not see 1.6 then the repo URL updates hasn't worked- double
check.

The updates the BBCiPlayerExtra 2.0 should also be available.

Hi bpa and thanks for the reply. The issue was resolved after I upgraded
Debian, so I think it was probably some issue with the older versions of
faad/flac and LMS 7.9.1.
It's a 64 bit system.

Thanks again.

The BBCiPlayer update only changed the URLs which are used to fetch BBC
data - no substantive change to code - so problem probably lies in AAC
and transcoding.

PlayHLS is not needed not used by BBCiPlayer. PlayHLS is used to play
m3u8 stream - it will notplay BBC HLS streams unless you save a BBC HLS
URLS as a favorite.

Check that LMS Bin faad and flac actually run on your system ? do you
run a 32 bit or 64 bit kernel ?

As an independent test of AAC - try playing the AAC stream

The URL is irrelevant - the type of playing activity (live vs live
paused/delays vs listen again) and network response times/behaviour is
important (i.e. any messaga ein the log file)

Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.2 - 1536935553
Running on FreeNAS/SlimNAS v2.0.2

I'd have been playing a mixture of live streams and 'listen again' (LA)
programmes.

I'd also restarted LMS two or three times, having updated BBCiPlayer and
experimented with different versions of menu.opml

The massive delay figure doesn't always appear. I just played "Yes
Minister: Series 1: The Devil You Know" again (having played various
live streams and LA programmes in between) and there was no "delay"
figure. The same went for various other programmes selected at random.

But then I played "Delve Special: Series 3: A Rocket for Defence"* and
got "25625728 mins delay".

Quite possible -the relevant radios are so old now nobody wanted to
update their firmware - but if that is the case there will be problem
with images as there was a small change in the XML.

I've just updated to 1.6.0.

Now, when I play 'listen again' radio programmes (ie, not live streams),
I get titles like

"*Yes Minister: Series 1: The Devil You Know - 25625564 mins delay*"

That's about 49.3 -years- :-)

Plus, since it's not a live stream, there isn't a delay anyway. (Live
streams show the "1 mins delay" I'd expect, as that's what I've set in
the options.)

It doesn't seem to cause any problems with playing the programme -- just
wondering what the explanation is.

I double checked - the code has not changed since at least 1.3 - the
broadcast time which is in UTC is converted using Perl localtime to get
hours and mins etc.

After those discussion years ago - I always thought the "listen Again"

I have not changed the code outputting the time. It is the same as in
previous releases and the arguments remain the same as in the past.

The user in Tuvalu who wants to listen to BBC Midinight news live - will
not wait until midnight local time so I think it is reasonable in
"Listen Again" to show the local time a program was broadcasted.

Iplayer sorted for me now, thank you very much.

(I've gone for the 14 day option but appreciated having the choice, the
more days you have, the more cumbersome the scrolling in the menu, but I
do occasionally want to go back further than 7 days, so great to have
the option. The option in the settings worked well for me as a low tech

to my awkward LMS setup.)

What version of plugin are you currently running ?

Look at LMS webUI / Settings/Plugin - the version of BBCiPlayer will be
displayed ?

For 1.4.* and 1.5.* - you need to update the repo URL at the bottom of
the PLugins tab to
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/bpaplugins/betarelease-repo.xml

This issue has been noted on the Radio thread (I think). Switching to a
stream with a different audio sample rate does fix the problem, because
the jive-alsa program on the Radio effectively resets the sound chip
when the sample rate is changed.

If you can determine what actually triggers the problem, you will be my
hero. I haven't experienced it in a while (I have two radios, both
impacted), and it is/was only very occasional. My initial, tentative,
hypothesis was that it is hardware related. But it may well have
something to do with some weirdness related to particular streams.

BBC made this 30day change and I didn''t want to update too much of the
Applet code so I just added dates to weekdays to help.

PS: I seem to have got a possibly related issue where on listen again
the bass suddenly disappears from the signal - this is mostly but not
always fixed by switching to a live station and then back to iplayer.
Could this be linked to the change of format that your update fixed?
Not possible - all that I changes was an URL where to find the exact same
files as last week.

Bass is not separate in anyway in the incoming signal. Bass suddenly
disappearing seems like hardware problem.

Applet plays 48kps AAC. The Applet is on its last days as BBC remove
support for the format. The LMS plugin gives access to higher quality
streams typically 96kbps for non UK - better for UK listeners.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiplayer play it again list shows 404

2018-09-18 Thread Weystoner

Just the biggest of thank-yous to bpa and mrw for sorting this - marital
harmony is now restored. When the problem first appeared a few days
ago, I went through my one of periodic 'should I be changing to a
different streaming solution' ruminations. But there's nothing else out
there that touches LMS for versatility, and it's thanks to you two and
others that makes it such a gem.

Seems to have worked perfectly - I replaced also a second copy of the
file that was in /mnt/storage/usr/share/... and it worked after a
reboot.

I seem to now have got 30 days' worth of listen again - not what I was
after originally, but very useful!

Many many thanks - this could be a marriage saver...

PS: I seem to have got a possibly related issue where on listen again
the bass suddenly disappears from the signal - this is mostly but not
always fixed by switching to a live station and then back to iplayer.
Could this be linked to the change of format that your update fixed?
