I have not done this and it is a long overdue , thank to BPA and ronnie for al the work and help they offer to many on here and other forums in using the LMS and Logtitech related players . Without the general hard work and willingness to get things fixed many of the plug ins (BBC , Spotify to name but two) would have gone and left lots of users very unhappy . While some seem to feel the LMS is a poor piece of software I know this to be wrong . Most of the problems that occur are caused by Providers and not the software at all . Given that LMS is still a free software the back up and work done on the nasic program and all plug ins by various members makes this in my view the best supported Server Software with real responsive and inclusive help not only fixing the issue but letting you know what was the problem . Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiplayer play it again list shows 404
To expand on most recent BBC "issue". It looks BBC HLS streams had a small valid change to the m3u8 file format but only for Listen Again streams. The BBCiPlayer HLS code broke because the implementation is only a subset of HLS spec based on what BBC had used. Users typically affected have BBCiPlayer Settings "On Demand Stream preference" with HLS as first in the list. Changing the preference to "DASH > HLS > MP3 > FlashAAC" should make it work and also handle some v. old BBC programs (via BBCiPlayerExtra) which may be in Flash. I have a fix to the HLS which will be rolled into a 1.6.1 which has a number of other small fixes. I am testing 1.6.1 and there are few more "bugs" I would like to fix. As there is a workaround, I see no need to quickly release it. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109446 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiplayer play it again list shows 404
Hello I have been trying to follow along with this "404 Not Found" issue for a while as I was able to listen to past programs through iPlayerExtra. Anyway decided to try and fix it today since it's Thanksgiving here in Canada and while I'm waiting for the family to arrive I have idle hands which is probably not a good thing as I'm now rather lost and confused  Here's what I did  On my Windows 7 PC removed LMS completely, reinstalled it and updated it to LMS to 7.91 - 1522157629 Added BBC iplayer plugin, it is now BBC iPlayer (v1.31 alpha3) and I can listen to BBC live streams through Live BBC (Non UK) but get '404 Not Found' when I try listen again. I have tried to add the plug in for BBC iplayerExtra but after numerous attempts to install it will not add. PLEASE all I want to be able to do is use listen again in the BBC iplayer. Any help would be greatly appreciated as being an expat the BBC player is vital. I've running LMS 7.9.1 for a while, added the latest BPA repo and restarted LMS and all is well on the LMS web UI as well as the Orange Squeeze app. Thanks so much! --- http://markcathcart.com/about Running a ReadyNAS NVX LMS Server, currently 7.9.1; Transporter(Living Room)+Duet Controller; Squeezebox Touch(Master Bedroom), (2x)Boom(Office, Patio), Radio(Guest Bedroom), Classic(garage), Duet(basement) Also using Squeezeplay on Windows 10. @Frank Duck do you have the > Update plugins automatically > box ticked on the plugin tab page? This is the repository link Code: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/bpaplugins/betarelease-repo.xml and you don't say which OS you are running for the LMS, but it might be worth updating, 2011 is so last Tuesday :) atb ronnie Man in a van's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=43627 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109446 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

With "old" http streaming - data is read until buffer was full and then passed to player, with DASH Audio comes in 3.2 sec chunks so my "delay settings" forces getting an initial chunk of data. On a single core system scheduling of processes becomes sensitive - especially at the start when a decoder may not have not have enough data to complete decoding some frames then it will pass control back to another process. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109446 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

castalla wrote: > How would I know if it's transcoding? The lnng delay is definitely > recent-ish . I just checked an old Squeezeplug on Pi Model B v1 -which has same processor as pi Zero. Live streams non UK 96kbps. Higher speed streams should reduce the delays to start up as delay is due to data shortage. For a SBR receiver, There was a delay but settign of 5sec/255 usually means live stream start within 10 secs - typically 5 and no subsequent breaks. If SBR was synced to a Radio - then delay was longer - and needed dealy setting of min 10secs to get quick styart - if delay setting was set to 5 then start up delay was actuallyt 15sec. So synced player have a bad effect. To know if transcoding is happening. If you can do a pstree command when playing a stream then the faad subprocess is obvious with somehting like the following Code: --squeezeboxserver -- squeezeboxserve --- sh -+- faad `-flac bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109446 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Is you LMS windows based and if so what spec./configuration > While listening to Radio 4, I noticed a brief display change between > programmes which showed the track info as Radio 4 - 1 minute delay > before the gui switched to the actual data Because Windows sytem needed a long delay to start up - the code to detect "skip back" thinks you have skipped back 1 min (it estimates delay from packet timecode vs player output & decode buffer fullness - not accurate) but as stream plays, if not skipped back , the player buffers fullness decreases and so delay is nto apparent. "actual data" is obtained from 2 spearate feeds which are polled every 30 secs - if there are delays on it (e.g. network problems) then there will be a delay in displaying metadata - so perhaps two problems conflated. > > Info from log: > > [18-09-28 10:13:37.0520] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::DASH::__ANON__ (797) > Retrying after error fetching [240331624] Status=596 Reason: Connection > timed out Fetch time 32012 ms > [18-09-28 10:15:14.0812] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::DASH::__ANON__ (779) Chunk > fetch status 200 Long chunk fetch time 8118 800 > [18-09-28 10:15:14.4657] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::DASH::__ANON__ (779) Chunk > fetch status 200 Long chunk fetch time 1981 800 > [18-09-28 10:15:45.8545] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::DASH::__ANON__ (779) Chunk > fetch status 200 Long chunk fetch time 1456 800 All these indicate that the BBC servers are slow in respondign - which varying between no reply (30 sec timeout) to 8sec - 1.5 secs delays - expected delay would 80-150ms. Report are only made for packet slower than 800ms - a high bar but enough to highlight a prohblem. The player should not be upset by these as long as they do not happen too often. Basically 1. You can do nothing about BBC delays unless your ISP connection or setup is "special" and are using something like a VPN, proxy server, aggressive security software, repeaters, barbed wire, satellite link or perhaps special system setup which could affect networks such as a VM. 2. If you do not have a WIndows sytem then startup "delay" need to be looked at. If you have a Windows LMS system especially 8 or 10 then I cannot investigate until I need to get a Windows 10 system. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109446 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

The issue was resolved after I upgraded Debian, so I think it was probably some issue with the older versions of faad/flac and LMS 7.9.1. It's a 64 bit system. Thanks. The BBCiPlayer update only changed the URLs which are used to fetch BBC data - no substantive change to code - so problem probably lies in AAC and transcoding. PlayHLS is not needed not used by BBCiPlayer. PlayHLS is used to play m3u8 stream - it will notplay BBC HLS streams unless you save a BBC HLS URLS as a favorite. Check that LMS Bin faad and flac actually run on your system ? do you run a 32 bit or 64 bit kernel ? I've just noticed that the programme times appear to be linked to the PC time and are not listed with the actual BBC schedule time. For example, I'm BST +1 (CEST) so the Midnight News is listed as 01.00 ... Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiplayer play it again list shows 404
Iplayer sorted for me now, thank you very much. (I've gone for the 14 day option but appreciated having the choice, the more days you have, the more cumbersome the scrolling in the menu, but I do occasionally want to go back further than 7 days, so great to have the option. The option in the settings worked well for me as a low tech person, except that my cache.db was hard to find, but that was only due to my awkward LMS setup.) moletteuk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=50177 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109446 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

We're about to go off on a four week dive trip, so I'm profoundly grateful for that 30 day option. Works a treat and so very useful. Thanks! Look at LMS webUI / Settings/Plugin - the version of BBCiPlayer will be displayed ? For 1.4.* and 1.5.* - you need to update the repo URL at the bottom of the PLugins tab to http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/bpaplugins/betarelease-repo.xml bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109446 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

This issue has been noted on the Radio thread (I think). Switching to a stream with a different audio sample rate does fix the problem, because the jive-alsa program on the Radio effectively resets the sound chip when the sample rate is changed. If you can determine what actually triggers the problem, you will be my hero. I haven't experienced it in a while (I have two radios, both impacted), and it is/was only very occasional. My initial, tentative, hypothesis was that it is hardware related. But it may well have something to do with some weirdness related to particular streams. mrw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38299 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109446 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

BBC made this 30day change and I didn''t want to update too much of the Applet code so I just added dates to weekdays to help. PS: I seem to have got a possibly related issue where on listen again the bass suddenly disappears from the signal - this is mostly but not always fixed by switching to a live station and then back to iplayer. Could this be linked to the change of format that your update fixed? Not possible - all that I changes was an URL where to find the exact same files as last week. Bass is not separate in anyway in the incoming signal. Bass suddenly disappearing seems like hardware problem. Applet plays 48kps AAC. The Applet is on its last days as BBC remove support for the format. The LMS plugin gives access to higher quality streams typically 96kbps for non UK - better for UK listeners. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109446 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiplayer play it again list shows 404
Just the biggest of thank-yous to bpa and mrw for sorting this - marital harmony is now restored. When the problem first appeared a few days ago, I went through my one of periodic 'should I be changing to a different streaming solution' ruminations. But there's nothing else out there that touches LMS for versatility, and it's thanks to you two and others that makes it such a gem. Seems to have worked perfectly - I replaced also a second copy of the file that was in /mnt/storage/usr/share/... and it worked after a reboot.
