I am trying to get Sirius working on SB for an American friend living in Belgium. Apparently, I can't installed the official Sirius plugin as I am located in Europe. I've installed the Not So plugin, I get the Sirius radio listing but can't get the stream (Unauthorized...). Does anyone have a clue what to do? Is it possible to play Sirius on SB from Europe? I just got a Squeezbox Touch this afternoon and I'm wildly excited about it. I've tried a few iterations of file-based playback devices over the years and I'm happy to say that I've finally found the device that does everything I need it to do without compromise. In addition to its perfect file playback, I'd be ecstatic if I could use it to listen to Howard 100 in the mornings. The problem is that I've been a lifetime subscriber since 2006. As everyone here probably already knows, that limits me to the un-premium stream. Since I only listen to talk radio on Sirius, though, this should be sufficient. I have seen the Not Authorized message a few times, but the one that plagues me while listening to Sirius on both the Radio and Touch are crashes/reboots. The amount of time varies from a few minutes to hours, but eventually my radio/touch will stop playing audio and reboot. I never get a reboot while using Internet radio, Pandora, or streaming my music, just with Sirius. I'm still on 7.5.2, but I have no reason to believe that the issue has been resolved in the current version. Is anyone else encountering reboots? Seeing as how they appear to have little interest in seeking an actual solution with Sirius, maybe they won't care. Download the following file: http://notsosirius-squeezecenter.googlecode.com/files/ProtocolHandler.pm This file is a modified version of the one Logitech provides with the Squeezebox Server. The next step varies depending upon your platform and installation directory. What you want to do is find the file in your Squeezebox installation that lives in a path like Plugin/Sirius/ProtocolHandler.pm and rename it to something else. Then put the file you just downloaded in its place. Next restart the server and enjoy. There are two problems with using the new streams...the technical issue is they are mildly encrypted, and before the streams would be accessible, the streams would need to be unencrypted. Which could be done. But legally...it can't. If you do a web search on Applian and Adobe, you will find information about a lawsuit filed by Adobe against Applian for decrypting a flash stream. Applian was forced to remove that ability from their product, thanks to the DMCA and other laws passed by the congresscritters who are firmly in the pockets of the entertainment industry. So while it would be possible to surmount the technical issues, no one in their right mind would make public an application to do so, since it would put them squarely in the cross-hairs of Adobe's legal team. Back in 2009 SourgeForge was sent a DMCA take down request from Adobe related to the rtmpdump project. Ultimately that project simply changed where it was hosted and still exists today. If you look into how RTMPE works it's security through obscurity, because it's encryption based upon entirely public information. But all that aside... My plugin would require the use of a helper program to play the actual stream and handle the RTMPE bits so there is no decryption functionality in it. I'm simply doing some XML-RPC stuff to get the URL of the stream. If (big if) I can get it to work end-users will need to have a version of ffmpeg with rtmpdump support on their machine to actually do the playing. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: (not so) Sirius Plugin
I got my first chance to look at this today and here's what I see. Sirius Canada users will see the new channel numbers after restarting Squeezebox Server. US users will see incorrect channel numbers, though most channels will still work. US users will not see any new channels which were added such as ESPN Xtra. I think at this point I'm going to try and make the plugin use a combination of the new player for channel listings and such and the old player for the actual streams. This is all a house of cards though at this point and once the old player disappears, I'm out of luck. If I were to venture a guess I'd say that at some point the official plugin will switch to using the the MP3 based streams that the Sirius mobile app uses. I can probably work with that to allow multi-player streaming and such (if that's still a problem), but I think ultimately the losers are going to be those with the old free streaming accounts who are confined to using the web based player. We'll see... Does your plugin write more information somewhere else on the system? H, I'm not really surprised that this doesn't work with a transfered XM account, and I'm not sure there is any way that it will until things are re-written to work with the new flash player. It turns out that the old player still exists on the Sirius site, you just can't get to the login page anymore. So the fix I made simply sets all the necessary cookies and then uses the old player URLs just like before. This of course will break once they take down the old player files. That's why I'm pretty sure there is no way this will work for those with transfered XM accounts since the old player likely has no hooks into the combined account system. Come on everyoneif even 500 users of the plugin give him $5, that going to encourage Robert to continue. Its not like anyone at logitech cares. Thanks for the plug, but realize I'm not making any promises here. I talked to the author of the BBC iPlayer plugin and I was correct in that his implementation doesn't support RTMPE. He also has no interest in adding it since he doesn't want anything that could be considered breaking DRM in his code and RTMPE isn't actually part of the RTMP spec. So where does that leave things? Well there's the option of trying to add RTMPE support myself which in all honesty isn't likely to happen. If you're interested though you can read about the process here: http://lkcl.net/rtmp/RTMPE.txt Plan B is to use a helper program like like ffmpeg that contains RTMPE support. I hate having to do that, but at this point I think it's the only way short me waking up to find an RTMPE implementation in PERL under my pillow. That will of course complicate things for end-users because you'll need this extra thing on your server, but it's the only way I think. Plan C could be to reverse engineer how the Sirius mobile players work because they simply stream MP3s, but that leaves the people with non-premium access out and isn't much of an improvement over the provided plugin. So in short, no new news to report, but I'm still working on it. Just gotta find time in between my actual job and tending to my 7th month old. Hi Robert, I'm a paid Sirius subscriber. There are people like me who can't use the native SBS sirius plugin due to the dreaded, You are not authorized... error message. I get that error message after listening to sirius for approximately a few seconds to a few minutes, then the music stream stops. I reported this bug to bugzilla over a year ago, but it was never fixed. A fellow NoSoSirius who had the same problem told me to use your plugin. And, wala... you plugin worked flawlessly... until the sirius web player was changed. Is it easier to make a beta plugin for NoSoSirius for people who have full subscription? If so, maybe you can release a beta limited to that until you have more time to get it to work for people who have low bandwidth sirius only. Hopefully, you can have something for us in the near future; as there are many of us who have no way to play sirius at all without getting the You are not authorized.. error mssage. I know that web scraping is not a simple task; and can be very time consuming. Please let us know if you need anyone to test for you. Keep up the great work! I realize you're just as anxious as everyone here to get this going. But, I have to say, it really doesnt make any sense to unnecessarily destroy the original quality of the high quality mp3 stream with re-encoding when it doesnt need to be; especially, when it's less complex to just grab the mp3 stream in it's native format. From what Robert said, it's going to take some time to think of the best solution possible for low bandwidth. You wouldnt want him to rush into something that may not be ideal. dursman;611180 Wrote: Hey man speak for yourself. lol. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: (not so) Sirius Plugin
I was wondering if anyone here could help me: I am an XM Subscriber who has a lifetime radio subscription. The Squeezebox XM plug-in always worked for me but since the changeover to Sirius' website yesterday, I can only log-in to listen online via the Sirius site streaming player. (I had to call to get the account name/password, which were outdated and didn't match the current account name/password, but it's what they had on file). The customer service rep said I had an internet radio subscription yet when I try and access the official Sirius Squeezebox app to use the same log-in/password (which works on my PC), it says I need to buy a Premium Internet Radio Subscription. Truth be told, I don't recall if we ever paid extra for an internet radio sub with XM -- we just were always able to listen to the XM plug-in with our account name/password. If Scott gets the Sirius Plugin to work again, would I be able to listen again? Or is the streaming I had under XM not the same as Sirius' premium internet streaming? I'm very confused and disheartened I can't listen on my Squeezebox...again, it works on Sirius' streaming site, but that same name/password combo gives me the buy the package disclaimer on the Squeezebox. Any suggestions would be appreciated. -- dursman dursman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=43878 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71636 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
