The plugin does not do anything to help play a station - all it does is list the URLs provided by iHeart "directory". The URLS may be provided by the station not iHeart . IIRC Many station provided https URLs as a result of Apple's ultimatum last year that Apple phones would only play https station from Jan 2018 - whereupon Apple changed theirmind. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51002 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Hi; since a couple of days/weeks I can not play the NPR streams anymore with this plugin. Is it me / my system or a general problem? Is anyone experiencing this as well? I tried on my SB3's as well as on a Joggler w/ Squeezeplay. My SB3 even crashes when trying; the Joggler just states can't play / convert stream. I am running LMS 7.9 Also, I checked the stream format and from what I understand it is WMA PRO - can that be correct? Did they change that recently (from std. WMA)? If so: Has anyone an idea how I can make my SB3 / Joggler play WMA Pro? Or Convert it to something playable? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: NPR Radio plugin
I just rebuilt my PC. It was running Win 7 before the rebuild and it was rebuilt with Win 7. I installed LMS 7.7.2 - r33893. I wanted to reinstall the NPR Radio plugin in but I can't access the Extension Downloader on the Advanced tab of the Web Control interface now. It is listed as an Active plugin on the Plugins tab but it doesn't show up on the drop down on the Advanced tab. I went back and checked another PC that I use to run LMS and it has the same issue. I searched all the forums and I can't find anything about how to get ED to show up and without it I don't know if there is any other way for me to install the plugin. Has anyone else seen the ED missing issue? If so do you come up with a resolution? If not, is there an alternate way to install the NPR Radio plugin? dansu1's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13414 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51002 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

The abover error message means the player cannot play the requested audio format AND LMS does not have the necessary transcoding applications. That said, this is unusual since the NPR plugin makes specific effort to pick WMA streams which are natively supported by all recent hadware players. So the problem could be 1. Your player does not support WMA - is it a softplayer such as Squeezeplay or and older player such as SB1 ? 2. The LMS File Types settings have been changed and so disabling player native WMA support. Did you change file types setting ? 3. Actually, this happens on any device (I have a Radio, iPeng, and the official Squeezebox iPhone app) running on SBS 7.6. Whenever you click Play All it doesn't add all the items to the playlist which is what it used to do but instead, it simply gives you a list of those items and you can only select one to play. However, if you press the play button while Play All is selected, the correct action occurs and all of the items are added to your current playlist and it starts playing. The problem is that iPhone interfaces such as iPeng, does not have a dedicated play button so there is no way to make Play All actually work. When you click it, it simply presents you with a list of items that are supposed to be added to your playlist and you can only select one of them to be added to your playlist. Hi there, Really enjoy using the NPR plugin. I recently upgraded to Squeezebox Server 7.6.1 from 7.5. Ever since I upgraded the Play all items menu button in programs like All Things Considered no longer plays all the items in a playlist. Instead, it simply goes to a new menu that has a list of all the progra segments. I found a way to work around this is to press play while the Play all items menu item is selected rather than clicking it. Thanks for your quick response! I'm seeing this issue on the web interface, on my Squeezebox Radio and also on iPeng. However, iPeng and the official Logitech Squeezebox iPhone app only allows you to click Play all items directly (no play button since that only shows up on the Now Playing screen of the app). There are two issues. 1. No menu for 2010 - this is because when plugin was written there was no 2010 archives. It needs an update to the menu definition OPML file. 2. Some of the 2010 recordings cannot be played by SBS as SBS doesn't like the file format. Not sure if this is a bug or a protection mechanism. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: NPR Radio plugin
I just posted update to NPRRadio v1.02. The upgrade is available through Extension Downloader. If you are upgrading from v1.01, then after installing the new version - go to NPRRadio plugin Settings and click Reset menu to ensure menus are updated properly. The update is minor just some additional contents and additions of NPR or relevant icons which are shown on Squeezeplay and SBC. v1.02 adds the following * Support for American Routes * menu items for additional podcasts * where possible NPR or similar icons displayed in Now Playing on Squeezeplay and SBC. On American Routes - many program are missing from archive and do not play. Also most programs are two hours long in two 1hr parts - you need to drill down to these 2 1hr programs before you can play them. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51002 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: NPR Radio plugin
Anyone have any idea as to how to go about making a plugin for the NPR plugin for American Routes? Have you had any experience with Perl ? You'll need to create at least two files. 1. opml file with Amercian Routes URL and a hook to a parser file. 2. Parser file which has a subroutine called parse and which parses the American Routes HTML from the URL in opml file and then generates SC Menus using an opml hash. The generated opml has will either be menus or playable items (i.e URLs to a playable item). You must make sure that the parser does not spend too much time processing (i.e. each parse routine should only parse one fetched html page at a time) as it can affect SC performance. As well as coding you will have to decide on the best menu layout. With archives this usually means - restricting the possibilities and also possibly generating menus on the fly rather than having prebuilt. For ideas, you can look at the current NPRRadio opml and parsers files or look at the Addons in AlienBBC which use the same organisation. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51002 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

1. When you play all items for a show like Morning Edition the 2nd story starts after the first story ends, so that issue is fixed, yea! 2. If you tap FWD on the remote you go to the next story - not sure if this was working in 7.3.1, nice. 3. If you press and hold FWD on the remote you can fast forward scan through the story - not sure if that was working before - this is nice! 4. Issue if you do 3, and scan to the last, say, 20 sec of the story, the end of the story will play, but the subsequent story doesn't start as it should. 5. 4 is not such a problem because if you do 2, whatever story you jump to will play and the playlist will continue at this point. I can't take any credit for 2 3 as these are standard Squeezebox functionality - unfortunately they got broken for 7.3 and are now fixed. I have seen point 4 when testing the original problem - I am currently using latest SC code (7.3.3 rev 24701) and the problem seems to have gone. Well I'm seeing this: * Tap FWD a few times * the story that I select plays * the next story plays * then the playlist gets stuck. it doesn't seem to be that the stream isn't loading. it's simply not going to the next stream What version of SC are you using ? Using the latest SC (7.3.3) I could not get this problem to occur. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51002 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: NPR Radio plugin
When I wrote the plugin (mid 08) I didn't support a specific date option because the availability of WMA version of programs do not go back that far (6 months) - older programs are mainly in RealAudio format. So some reason for not implementing it: 1. I tested various dates and I felt the probable confusion amongst users when some program play and other do not meant the feature would not be that helpful. 2. the amount of effort to develop and test a date entry system across 3 user interfaces (web, Controller and SB) be worthwhile vs. the number of probable users. 3. The previous while crude was easy to implement and I thought would meet most user's needs of going back a few days. *Creating an URL by hand.* The URLs are not straight forward - a program URL is clear enough http://thin.npr.org/p.php?pid=7d=20081220 The d parameter is the date(e.g. 2008 12 20) . The pid parameter is the program id such as Morning Edition or All things considered - but this URL returns a HTML page of program segments not a playable playlist. Furthermore, each segment has unique numbers such as http://thin.npr.org/s.php?sId=98538331rid=7 http://thin.npr.org/s.php?sId=98443492rid=7 This means the segment can be reached from different menus such as program, Topics, etc. and is not tied to a program or a date. So there is no easy way to create a playable URL that can be entered into Tune-in. A feature request is unlikely to be implemented unless there is a change in User interface support. I suggest if you want to trawl NPR back editions now - use a PC and the WaveInput plugin. I also think the previous will not work beyond the start of the thin interface which was about nov 07. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51002 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

The NPRRadio PLugin does nothing more than make it easy to find the WMA stream for NPR Programs. If your SliMP3 can play WMA streams now - then there is nothing to do. If you are on Windows - it should play. If you are on Linux or OSX you will have to install another app and associated conf files to decode WMA. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51002 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
