Been using Spotty for years without any issues - it is really awesome
that there is still active development on this plugin that increases the
value of "old" hardware so massively!

I just registered on this forum mainly to give a shoutout to @mherger
and to confirm that this fix solves Spotify's issues for me here in
Denmark.

Thanks!

Hi @cpd73,

When analysing my tracks, I always get a "1 Failure(s)" message. i.e. if
I add a new album with 10 tracks, it will find 11 and report 1
failure... so all new tracks seem fine, but there's obviously a track
out there it's picking up that it does not like.

Is there any way to log output the file detail so that I may identify it
and investigate further?

Chiming in - also from Denmark.
Had this issue for at least a week - using the workaround / fallback
setting in Spotty v. 4.8.1 solved the issue partly for me without having
to modify my DNS settings.
That is, it works when using Spotty from LMS or iPeng.

When starting a Spotify Connect session from the Spotify app or the web
player, it still does the skipping part - but then, after some skipped
tracks, the connection to the player (Squeezebox Radio) breaks, and then
the radio plays the track it got to just fine...

Radios are running the community firmware 8.0.1-r16867
Have tried most combinations of advanced settings in Spotty - but even
with just the workaround enabled, Spotify Connect still does not want to
"play nice"..

Excerpt from LMS log after a service restart and the issue has occured:

I am running Spotty with a Spotify Client ID, as I saw the rate limiting
occurring in the logs sometime last week, and read that this could solve
it.

Also - a point that I am unsure if has any influence on this: in the end
of February I upgraded my Spotify plan from Duo to Family.
Spotify Connect had been working great for me for years, and then it
stops working - so could the change of plan also be part of this issue?

Might try to see if changing DNS settings works better..

Unfortunately not - which, I agree, is bad. I'll add some logging to
list of to (e.g.) 20 failed tracks. If you run with no new tracks, it
should try to analyse the failed track again - and then this track path
should be visible next to the progress bar.

The next release will print (up to 100) tracks that fail to analyse - my
thinking being that 100 is a lot to show, and if you have more than this
there's a major issue somewhere.

Great, that sounds most reasonable...

I'll be interesting to see what it is. The only issues I had with tracks
not being analysed correctly (when testing Music Similarity) were useful
as they actually identified a few corrupt files in my library that I'd
never have known about otherwise.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Beta Announce] Revised Inguz DSP plugin

2022-03-15 Thread foxesden

It can be installed over the old one although you should note the
following.

Installation location
The "correct" place for 3rd party plugins installed via the settings
page is in C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\InstalledPlugins\Plugins
whereas the manual install puts the files here C:\Program Files
(x86)\Squeezebox\server\plugins

I found this very confusing as I had installed over the top of a manual
install and then removed the files in C:\Program Files
(x86)\Squeezebox\server\plugins, not realising that the plugin had
installed to a different location. So I didn't see how it would still be
working.

Updating Binaries
This is optional - if you have a working installation you won't gain
much if anything here. The primary reason was to simplify the install,
so no need for a new install of .NET runtimes or Mono on Linux

Features
There are no new features over the existing code. In fact I have ripped
out some of the code associated with making room measurements and
various noise generators there as better solutions out there now.

Roadmap
The main rationale here was to upgrade to a simplified install that
would work on most platforms and give me something solid to put future
upgrades in place. Like you I have found he DSP and in particular room
correction is the biggest single audio improvement that you can make to
your system, so enabling more people to do it easily is the first step.

I am planning to do a post on the easiest way to take room measurements
that work, but want to test it out on my newest and cheapest measurement
mic first. I will probably post that on ASR.

I will then be doing some experiments with CamillaDSP to see if that
will work as a replacement of InguzDSP as the DSP engine. In theory
Camilla is much faster and allows full Parametric EQ - if I can figure
this out then the UI will need to change but I think the foundation is
there.

>From this point onwards any changes will be around the usability of the
UI.

Your credentials seem to be invalid, as the RP authentication seems to
be failing. But that shouldn't be the problem. There's a bunch of these
errors:

cannot open session for

Basically RP tells us what URL to play, but then can't serve that file.
I'd assume this was a temporary hiccup. Can you play any of the other RP
streams and channels?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Bliss DSTM mixer

2022-03-15 Thread chill

I've been giving this a try while I look forward to a version that
handles CUE files. I have around 6500 tracks that are in individual
MP3/OGG/M4A files, with traditional tags. I'm getting some inconsistent
issues with the analysis phase.

I have a separate 'Lossy' folder within my music folder for these files,
so I started off by analysing just this folder. I realise that I need
to eventually run the analysis on the same root folder as defined in
LMS, but I just wanted to have a play on a subset of my library.

I used the 0.0.2 build for macOS, running on a 2021 M1 Macbook Pro. My
music library is on an ext4 SSD attached to a pCP Pi4 and accessed from
my Macbook via samba.

When I first ran the analysis on this 'Lossy' folder, it zipped through
6414 tracks in 16m 30s: a rate of over 23k tracks per hour, which I was
quite pleased with, given that the files are being accessed over my lan.

So then I changed the path in config.ini to start one folder level
higher, i.e. the same folder as specified in LMS, in order to include
everything else ('Lossless', 'DVD Rips', 'Spoken Word', 'HiRes' etc). I
renamed the bliss.db so that the analysis would start again from
scratch. The analysis didn't find many extra files (6665 versus 6414
previously), but it slowed down considerably, even while apparently
working in the 'Lossy' folder, and it crashes each time I run it. I
repeated it several times, each time deleting the database for a fresh
start, and I seem to be getting errors in different places. I've had a
few "thread 'main' panicked at 'Error: No tags found!',
src/tags.rs:33:50", and the file number is different each time. I've
even had a "Segmentation fault: 11", again at a different point in the
analysis. In each case, the most recent file analysed, according to the
terminal output, is something in the 'Lossy' folder that worked
previously.

I'm curious what could be causing inconsistent/different failures. Does
the analyser pick a different/random section of each track each time?

My next step will be to exclude folders from the analysis with
'.notmusic', to see if I can find some pattern.

The analyser code iterates the filesystem to build a list of files to
analyse. This list is not sorted. Then each CPU core is given a section
of this list. So, if you had 8 cores and 8k tracks - 1 core would get
the first 1k tracks, the next core the next 1k, etc. This is why when
the names of the tracks that are being analysed are shown they are not
in order. This code is all from the bliss-rs library.

As to why its crashing, not sure. Perhaps you could run analysis on each
folder separately to see if its a particular file type.

I'll certainly try that. I'm currently re-running the analysis with
every folder except 'Lossy' excluded via the .notmusic method. The
analysis has now found the same number of tracks (6414) as when I
specified only the 'Lossy' folder in the path, but whereas that scan
took 16m30s, I'm now over 27minutes in and it's only completed 20%. Any
idea why this scan is so much slower?

If this scan completes successfully, I'll then specify the direct path
to each of the other folders in turn and see what happens.

I'm pretty sure it was an option just a few weeks ago (or at least I
managed to somehow do it). But it seems gone now. Could it be related to
the latest update to Material?

(what I want to do is to add my new record player (which uses a
'favourite to WAVIN'

Well I certainly can!

Like I said, depends on what you're trying to pin, radio stations - yes.
Tracks, albums - no.

All these radio stations are favourites in a folder named *other radios*
under favourites. I can pin any one of them to the Home page.

You can pin a favourite if its 'favorites_url' starts with 'http:' or
'https:'

Sorry, not really. The bliss-analyser code is pretty simple - just
collecting a list of files then asking bliss-rs to analyse them.

The scan completed after 1hr43m, with no errors. While it was running
it was using about 2.5% CPU and 12 threads.

I've just restarted it with the path set specifically to that 'Lossy'
folder, and it's started up with ~500% CPU and ~30 threads, so clearly
it's going to complete faster. I wonder if it's something to do with
the way the tasks are split between the available cores. Does the core
allocation happen before the folders are skipped due to .notmusic, or
afterwards? If before, and all the allocated folders on some cores turn
out to be skipped, that would explain why it's using fewer resources and
running slower.

No. The code builds 1 list of all tracks to be analysed - the .notmusic
prevents files within those folders from being added to this list. This
is then split between cores.

Ah, okay... That does indeed seem to be the case.. But I'm pretty sure
it used to work for WAVIN as well...

Is there any way to manually change the homescreen items? Is that a
settings file somewhere?

Loaded everything up in windows version, and it doesn't have the same
issue. So some difference in the headless linux x86 edition that isn't
reading the written analysis tags out of the files.

In parallel trying the bliss evaluation also.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] 'MediaServer' *certified* Alexa skill for LMS

Hello,

Can the skill be controlled by the LMS/Material App on an Android Phone?
I tried that. However there seems to be a buffer of nearly a minute or
so. A Pause command is executed 1 min late or so.

Is there any other way to app-control playback on an Echo without
display?

Thanks.

If you are streaming to an Echo and change the playlist outside the
skill, saying ‘Alexa, resume’ will clear that buffer for you for
immediate playback.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP Question

2022-03-15 Thread Matt Drown

On windows, my database (which took 24 hours to read all the files from
the NAS)
132,173 Tracks (130,564 Mixable, 13 to validate)
When I select custom filter and show me all the files with "stored
analysis missing", it reports 1606 songs. (Menu
Library->3.CustomFilter)
This implies I should have 130k files with MusicIP data embedded in
them, correct?

When I start up the headless system and have it scan the files it
reports (this thankfully takes about 20-30 minutes as it's located on
the linux box acting as a NAS)
132,129 tracks
86,631 mixable
43,706 to validate

If I could figure out which 43k tracks I need to validate, maybe i could
figure out

If I copy the default.m3lib from windows to linux, and start up the
server, it complains about the cache being changed, and reloading causes
the server to crash.
