Diablo Canyon (DCPP) response:


  1.   How many Units are your plant?

DCPP is a 2 Unit PWR site (the site has approximately 1200 personnel)


  1.  How many personnel are in your department?

RP Dept has 52 personnel


  1.  Of those personnel, how many are technicians?  Specialists?  Supervisors? 
 Superintendents? Mangers?

1 Manager, 3 Superintendents, 8 Supervisors, 6 Engineers/Specialists, 22 RP 
Technicians, and 12 Deconners.
RP Dept is responsible for the following programs: RP Operations, ALARA, 
Radwaste, REMP, GPI, Dosimetry, Respirators/SCBAs, Confined Space, RAM control, 
Shielding, Irradiators, RP Instruments, RP Technology, Offsite Emergency Lab, 
DCPP ISFSI, Humboldt Bay ISFSI


  1.  How do you deal with online decon personnel?  Are they employed by the 
utility, contractors, or do you expect your in house RP Maintenance and 
Operations personnel to perform the decon function during normal plant 
operations?

Our 12 person Decon crew are full time staff employees (normal plant 
operations).
Our Decon crew is responsible for: all RP decon activities, Hazardous Waste, 
FME,  Radwaste support, RP supplies, RCA trash and laundry, RCA and Turbine 
Bldg cleanliness

Supervisors-4 Superintendents- 2 Mangers 1
  4.  How do you deal with online decon personnel?  Are they employed by the 
utility, contractors, or do you expect your in house RP Maintenance and 
Operations personnel to perform the decon function during normal plant 
operations? We have  Nuclear technicians (7) that perform our decon activities. 
They are classified under maintenance, but report to Radiation Protection.

1.How many Units are your plants? We are a 2 unit Westinghouse PWR four 
loop plant

2.   How many personnel are in your departments? We have 53 full time 
equivalent positions in RP

3.   Of those personnel, how many are technicians? 26   Laborers? 9  
Specialists? 3  Health physicist? 3 Supervisors? 6 Superintendents? 4 Mangers? 1

We are broken down into 4 groups:

ALARA: 1 Supt and 1 Health physicist, and 3 Specialist (ALARA planning)

Field OPS: 1 Supt, 5 Supervisors, 22 RP Technicians

Tech Support: 1 Supt, 4 RP Technicians (Dosimetry, instruments, sealed source, 
respiratory protection, procedure writers, PIC, HIS-20)

RadWaste: 1 Supt, 1 Supervisor, 2 Health Physicist (shipping), and 9 laborers 
(Radwaste, decon, protective clothing, etc.)

4.   How do you deal with online decon personnel? Laborers are typically 
the ones who perform on-line decon activities  Are they employed by the 
utility, contractors, or do you expect your in house RP Maintenance and 
Operations personnel to perform the decon function during normal plant 
operations? Some are utility workers, some are contractors, the site is moving 
away from have house laborers to this position being all contractors

Corporate support consists of a CFAM and 2 program managers

49 HP personnel.  We also have Safety at the site and  that includes 2 more 
individuals.

We have 1 Manager, 4 Supervisors (trying to get 1 additional currently), 44 
technicians/specialists.

Our decon personnel are full time contractors.  They are provided direction
