Core samples at the Antarctic are good enough to show climate for the last 2 or 3 thousand years. Scientists can measure CO2 as well as dust and many other gases in the samples. RE: [NF] -- Microsoft Giving Away Vista Ultimate, With a Catch
For clarity, open to US residents only. For additional clarity, I do not give a rat's ass if it is free, with or without anyone monitoring my use. Vista sucks, and it still sucks even if it is free. They can find some other sucker willing to work with Vista Ultimate Sucko version, or any other degree of castrated version of Vista as far as I am concerned. Perhaps by the time Vista SP2 hits the streets some of the suckiness performance issues will be resolved, but I am betting not. And the User Access Control aspect of Vista is not likely to go away. It just is not worth it to me when alternatives are perfectly capable for my purposes (XP, 2000). My wife doesn't want to be inconvenienced in any way. What the court in Minnesota said is that the party with visitation has to pay all the costs of transportation to make that visitation happen. Maybe it has changed in recent years, but that's how it was explained to me way back when. You're the one that is moving, so that's another argument in her favor. Whatever happens, you can certainly look at the 2 hour drive as some quality time with your son where you can talk a lot and stop at a restaurant together partway on the trip. The good news is you won't be living near her. The bad news is that it means the commute is longer. Also -- food for thought -- my son decided he wanted to live with his father when he turned 14. So even though I had full custody and his father had visitation, it did not stay that way permanently. When that change happened, I wound up paying my ex child support. At least he was reasonable enough to request that I pay to him the same amount he paid to me. If they had used my income as a guideline I would have paid more than twice what he did. I know several university professors, and they all tell a similar story. Grants are awarded based on a) reputation of the applicant, b) relevance/significance of the proposal and c) availability of govt./ private funding. Also, you should realize that when you are the one proposing that things are not as they are supposed to be, the burden of proof rests .. on you. I think you made his point, Ed. Who among the self appointed elites will ever recognize a good reputation for someone questioning academic orthodoxy and relevance is determined by one's frame of reference. Hence someone coming along questioning the validity of current study must be silenced to the proof they are seeking to find is never financed or recognized. You may be critical of Christians for faith, yet many of the environmentalist religion unquestioningly accepts any drivel that comes from academic towers even when drivel A conflicts with drivel B. The point is, question the scientist... they have been wrong before! How long ago were they worried about a nuclear freeze... and how long ago did they believe the earth was flat... and the sun revolved around the earth? How long ago did science tell us saccarin was bad for us... and had it banned. Now we know it is not bad for us and I use it every chance I get as a reinforcement of the falibility of science! http://abcnews.go.com/International/story?id=2938762page=1 Obviously, according to some the author of the above story is just talking out of his ass; how could ABC print something like that? The vast majority of scientists agree that global warming is real, it's already happening and that it is the result of our activities and not a natural occurrence.1 The evidence is overwhelming and undeniable. The above quote is from climatecrisis.org and they make it clear that The evidence is overwhelming and undeniable. They base that on the IPCC statement: 1 According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), this era of global warming is unlikely to be entirely natural in origin and the balance of evidence suggests a discernible human influence of the global climate. Is it just me or does it appears as if the IPCC is allowing themselves some wiggle room in the statement above? It just doesn't appear to be as certain as how climatecrisis.org says it. Its inventors had been very careful lest they market something dangerous. It had also been on the market a very long time without serious problems. The experiment that started the cancer scare should not even be graced with the honor of that title. It involved only 12 rats. There was no control group. Saccarin was surgically implanted in the bladders of all 12 rats. Half of the rats developed cancer. Even something as innocuous as honey can cause cancer if surgically implanted in the bladder. This experiment was then proclaimed by the FDA as proof that saccarin causes cancer, without any other clinical or experimental data. The FDA did not specifically demand that Saccarin be taken off the market. If they had, they would have faced lawsuits, and lost. It was more effective to simply issue their statement. The vendors then had to either replace the saccarin in their foods and drinks, or lose business. Not long after, the FDA approved Aspartame under suspicious circumstances. [OT] O-man swearing in on the Quran?
Hi Everybody! My friend forwarded this to me, he received this signed by Andrea Yanez, but she appears to have forwarded it from Lorraine Jirus. Anyone know if this is really what O-man said - about being sworn in on the Quran? Snopes says he isn't even a Muslim. He is, however, a D, so who really knows? http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp (begin quote) CAN MUSLIMS BE GOOD AMERICANS? This is very interesting and we all need to read it from start to Finish. and send it on to anyone who will read it Maybe this is why our American Muslims are so quiet and not speaking out about any atrocities. Can a good Muslim be a good American? This question was forwarded to a friend who worked in Saudi Arabia for 20 years. The following is his reply: Theologically - no. . . . Because his allegiance is to Allah, The moon God of Arabia Religiously - no. . . . Because no other religion is accepted by His Allah except Islam (Quran, 2:256) (Koran) Scripturally - no. . . Because his allegiance is to the five Pillars of Islam and the Quran. Geographically - no . . . Because his allegiance is to Mecca , to which he turns in prayer five times a day. Socially - no. . . Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him To make friends with Christians or Jews. Politically - no. . . Because he must submit to the mullahs (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and destruction of America , the great Satan. Domestically - no. . . Because he is instructed to marry four Women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34 ) Intellectually - no. . Because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt. Philosophically - no. . . . Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran does not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic. Spiritually - no. . . . Because when we declare one nation under God, the Christian's God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as Heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in The Quran's 99 excellent names. - - - Therefore after much study and deliberation Perhaps we should be very suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in this country. - - - They obviously cannot be both good Muslims and good Americans. * * * Call it what you wish..it's still the truth. * * * You had better believe it. + + + The more who understand this, the better it will be for our country and our future. The religious war is bigger than we know or understand. . .. And Barack Hussein Obama, a Muslim, wants to be our President? You have GOT to be kidding! Wake up America ! Obama even says if he wins the election, he will be sworn in on the Quran---not a Bible! Well,we all know where he can put that Quran, don't we (End of quote) -- Regards, Pete http://www.pete-theisen.com/ ___ Post Messages to: ProFox@leafe.com Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice. RE: [NF] Great service
Very cool of them. They have at least 2 fans for that positive action. You, and me. I got one of the original Intel MacBooks back in August '06. It has been my main machine ever since. Last month when I flew to San Antonio, I thought I'd take advantage of the free Wifi in the Rochester airport to check my email before getting on the plane. The battery was fully charged, but after about 5 minutes the computer just shut down. No warning, no sleep - just dead. It was as if it were a desktop machine and someone pulled the plug. I tried several times to get it to restart, but it would only go a little bit into the boot process and then die again. (note: so glad that it uses a journaling FS!). When I got to the hotel I plugged it in, and the battery monitor showed 95% charged. I tried a couple of more times to run on battery power, but it always did the same thing. Today I brought it in to the local Apple retail store and showed the tech there. After checking out a bunch of stuff, he agreed that the battery was defective; even if it had lost capacity, it should notify the OS so that it can go to sleep gracefully. So even though the laptop is out of warranty and the first problem didn't happen until after it was out of warranty, and even though batteries are not covered under the AppleCare extended warranty, he replaced the battery with a brand-new one. No charge! That's a $99 item for free! Apple sure can be corporate bastards at times, but at least they did the right thing today by me. -- Ed Leafe -- http://leafe.com -- http://dabodev.com [excessive quoting removed by server] ___ Post Messages to: ProFox@leafe.com Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
