Yes, all the polls are somewhat biased.

When people are asked Does health care need to be reformed There is a
majority that says yes.

When people are asked, Do you like your health care A majority say yes.

Why is that? Because people have been told over and over that all these people
are suffering. Well it looks like only 20% of people don't like it.

Let's fix the 20%.

Did they go the other side of the tracks and ask? Probably not, maybe
because the large health buildings don't exist over there?

Neither side is correct in this hell hole we are moving towards. If

As the Obama administration pushes for a national health care plan, studies
show that most Americans are overwhelmingly happy with their own health care
-- but they are dissatisfied with the country's overall system, because most
Americans who have insurance believe that those who don't have it are not
receiving care.

Those same studies, however, show that a surprisingly large 70 percent of
the estimated 46 million Americans who don't have insurance say they do, in
fact, receive health care, and that a vast majority of them are satisfied
with it.

A survey conducted jointly by the Kaiser Family Foundation, ABC News and USA
Today, released in October 2006, found that 89 percent of Americans were
satisfied with their own personal medical care, but only 44 percent were
satisfied with the overall quality of the American medical system. The
survey is the only recent poll for which data is publicly available that
allows for a comparison of the satisfaction of insured and uninsured
Americans. (The data from a just-completed New York Times/CBS poll won't be
publicly available for several months; the results that have been reported
so far don't make the comparisons discussed in this article.)

RE: [OT] Things that make you go Hmmm

2009-08-10 Thread Bob Calco
The issue is not don't some people have bad or no insurance but what
exactly is broken in the current system?

What's broken in the current system is the fact that the normal market
mechanisms of price negotiation don't exist. There are too many layers of
indirection between consumer and provider for the consumer to be able to
affect the pricing that the provider establishes directly.

Insurance was never supposed to cover everything. It was supposed to
mitigate catastrophic risk, not guarantee entitlements.

People act like the government hasn't intervened in health care and what we
have is some kind of laissez faire free-for-all. Nothing could be further
from the truth. Every aspect of it is regulated, every aspect of it has been
legislated, and what we have is a system where private companies are
competing in a set of government-established rules that almost guarantee
constantly rising prices.

Here again Bush is just as much to blame with his prescription drug
entitlement.

If doctors had to charge what the market could truly bear, prices would drop
dramatically. Look at the computer hardware market. If health care were
treated like a normal commodity, prices would find equilibrium. But it's
treated, and regulated, like an entitlement, then people can't figure out
why the prices keep going up.

After all, what's your God-given right to health worth?

Problem with the current system is few people understand economics, and
politicians have seized on the iniquities in the system they themselves
created as if now they are the system's saviors.

Like this hasn't been tried before. Ask the mortgage industry how this story
ends...

 Hi Bob,

Mine sure does. I had to do without diabetes meds for a year while the
health Nazis around here were fighting about whether or not I was
eligible for one program or another.

Now I need to see a specialist but I won't be able to until February
because I won't be able to afford the $1000 + *per month* deductible.
The co-payments I pay to the doctors I do see, are actually all the
doctor gets so you can't blame the doctors for not seeing someone in my
 situation.

The co-pay is on the order of $20, but at my income level that is a
 lot.
What if you have three health appointments in a week?

Nah, you are overreacting, especially by inferring stuff to what he
didn't say and didn't do. Heaven help anyone who doesn't say *all* the
right things when you are listening!

Let's see. When he says, We need a civilian national security force, just
as powerful, just as well-funded, as the US military, what am I to infer?

When he says to his supporters, I want you to get in their face, argue
 with

When he says, If they bring a knife, we bring a gun, am I the only one
 who
sees past all the rhetoric about peace and diplomacy that the media
 created

When he says he wants people who created this mess not to do a lot of

When you really look into what he has written (or claimed he has written),
and what he has done, and with whom he has done them, you see a very
different person than the one people thought they were voting for, that
 the
media portrays and reinforces with its puff pieces and blatant propaganda.

He is not who he says he is, nor is he doing that which you think he's

The layers of deception around this guy are so thick even obvious red

no other candidate could survive are being ignored, even by people who

The truth will have out eventually. But at what cost?

We've done that many times. Unfortunately we get into discussions with people
who like to talk out their poopers. Kind of like that Federal Reserve argument.

The average American citizen likes their health care. We don't need idiots
from foreign lands to tell us otherwise.

The problem is that most people think other people aren't satisfied. That came
about by years of endless mind washing by the media.

My solution is to offer low-cost, bare-bones health insurance to the uninsured,
not to kill the best health care system on the planet. If anyone thinks the
American Government can do a better job than the current system, they've never
had interaction with the IRS, Social Security, Division of Motor Vehicles, The
US Postal Service, or any other entity where they hire low-intelligent slugs
and give them jobs for life.

RE: [OT] Things that make you go Hmmm

2009-08-10 Thread Bob Calco
One of the root cause problems of our system today is the
extra-constitutional two-party duopoly, which basically guarantees in any
one arm of government at every level a majority faction -- recall,
majority faction is one particularly consequential evil of democratic
government that the Founders explicitly called out and targeted with various
features of our Constitution.

Another problem is the income tax. Our Founders never intended there to be
an income tax -- ever. All tax revenue was to be obtained by a modest tariff
on articles of manufacture, period. I can list an endless stream of quotes
from Washington to Teddy Roosevelt about the evils of the income tax and
merits of the tariff for encouraging capitalists to invest in American
labor.

Thanks to Woodrow Wilson, we have the income tax, the UN (he pimped an early
and especially pathetic precursor to it, the League of Nations), and
central reserve banking. All of these were antithetical to the underlying
philosophical objectives of our system.

It's a mistake to compare Obama to Lincoln or FDR. He's rather more like
Wilson---something of an academic, a know-it-all, man-of-the-world, and
hostile to the core of Constitutional republicanism on so many levels. Most
people don't know this but Wilson actually had dissenters rounded up and
interned, not unlike what Obama is starting with his fishy rumor website,
his civilian expeditionary force, and the concentration camps they are
building under the guise of preparing for future FEMA emergencies.

As the Obama administration pushes for a national health
 care plan, studies
show that most Americans are overwhelmingly happy with
 their own health care
-- but they are dissatisfied with the country's overall
 system, because most
Americans who have insurance believe that those who don't
 have it are not
 receiving care.

Those same studies, however, show that a surprisingly large
 70 percent of
the estimated 46 million Americans who don't have insurance
 say they do, in
fact, receive health care, and that a vast majority of them
 are satisfied
 with it.

A survey conducted jointly by the Kaiser Family Foundation,
 ABC News and USA
Today, released in October 2006, found that 89 percent of
 Americans were
satisfied with their own personal medical care, but only 44
 percent were
satisfied with the overall quality of the American medical
 system. The
survey is the only recent poll for which data is publicly
 available that
allows for a comparison of the satisfaction of insured and
 uninsured
Americans. (The data from a just-completed New York
 Times/CBS poll won't be
publicly available for several months; the results that
 have been reported
so far don't make the comparisons discussed in this
 article.)

Hi Michael,

Actually, the right to Life language is in the Declaration of
Independence, rather than in the Constitution. If you have a right to
life, then you have a right to health care. Remember that when you are
sick and your insurance decides to not pay.

RE: [OT] Things that make you go Hmmm

2009-08-09 Thread Bob Calco
Pete:

 Hi Michael,

Clinton DID every chick he could. All Clinton cared about was his own
 s*x life.

The video posted does not support the theory that Obama had Union
Thugs start or participate in a fight. It looked like it was just an
altercation between two individuals that spread to other guys, some of
whom wore union shirts. Fights are like that.

Clinton was indifferent to America. That is worse, far worse, than
hating America. Obama is not indifferent, and he does not hate America
but rather he hates inequality. I hate inequality.

That is, you relate to him through envy, which explains your latent
socialism.

You are dead wrong about his attitude toward America, it was evident in
everything he said, did and didn't say or didn't do during the campaign.

America needs to be completely changed because it was wholly unacceptable to
The One. Even his wife proclaimed, not once but twice, that she was never
proud of her country in all of her adult life until it was obvious her
husband was whooping Clinton's entitled arse in the primaries.

All Obama loves is himself; he's a grade A narcissist, with sociopathic
tendencies that will grow more evident as his One-ness is challenged.

America is not supposed to be unequal, it has just evolved in that
direction. The people who benefit from inequality are not what anyone
would call deep thinkers - just the opposite. They typically think that
whatever benefits them, no matter what detriment to others or the whole
society, is right for America or indeed the world.

America is founded on equality under the law, based on endowment by our
Creator with certain inalienable rights, not equality of outcomes as
measured by faceless government bureaucrats. You seem to relate to Obama's
clear passion for the latter and hatred of America for those times it did
not live up to its ideals.

So you're secretly pulling for him to be successful leveling the field
even as you prepare to vote against him next go-round.

A curious brand of cognitive dissonance.

- Bob

Jean could have done a better job than Obama because
Jean hates America less than Obama.

Who was the last real patriot who held office? Reagan?

The usual thing is for them to line their own pockets, and the
pockets of their buddies. That's all Obama is really about. In
effect that is hating America, but not any more than, say, Lyndon
  Johnson.

I was completely wrong about that Obama guy:
  Told you so...

When he says to his supporters, I want you to get in their face, argue with
them, whatever does he mean?

When he says, If they bring a knife, we bring a gun, am I the only one who
sees past all the rhetoric about peace and diplomacy that the media created
to mythologize this thug as some kind of peacemaker?

When he says he wants people who created this mess not to do a lot of
talking but to get out of the way so he can clean their mess, pray tell
me, where is the hope? Where is the unity? Where's the post-partisanship?

When you really look into what he has written (or claimed he has written),
and what he has done, and with whom he has done them, you see a very
different person than the one people thought they were voting for, that the
media portrays and reinforces with its puff pieces and blatant propaganda.

He is not who he says he is, nor is he doing that which you think he's
doing.

The layers of deception around this guy are so thick even obvious red flags
no other candidate could survive are being ignored, even by people who
should know better.

The truth will have out eventually. But at what cost?

Hi Bob,

Yeah, he's Hitler, but he *is* the president. Thus we have to wait until

The video posted does not support the theory that Obama had Union

Clinton was indifferent to America. That is worse, far worse, than
hating America. Obama is not indifferent, and he does not hate America

That is, you relate to him through envy, which explains your latent

All Obama loves is himself; he's a grade A narcissist, with sociopathic

America is not supposed to be unequal, it has just evolved in that

Ridiculous. 80% of Americans like their health insurance. We need to fix it
for the other 20%.

1. Tort reform. Limit judgment amounts.

2. Lower malpractice insurance for doctors.

3. allow nurses to dispense and administer low-level medications.

4. Allow longer prescription times. Right now if you're on long-term
prescription such as blood pressure medication, they require you to come in
every 5 months. I'd change that to every 12 months.

5 Lawsuits make doctors over-test so that they can't be sued later.

6. Allow poorest people to join medicare regardless of age.

Ridiculous.  80% of Americans like their health
 insurance.  We need to fix
 it for the other 20%.

 1.  Tort reform.  Limit judgment amounts.

 2.  Lower malpractice insurance for doctors.

 3.  allow nurses to dispense and administer low-level
 medications.

 4.  Allow longer prescription times.  Right now
 if you're on long-term
prescription such as blood pressure medication, they
 require you to come in
every 5 months.  I'd change that to every 12 months.

5   Lawsuits make doctors over-test so that
 they can't be sued later.

 6.  Allow poorest people to join medicare regardless
 of age.

Nothing needs revising.  You need to insure the

you miss the point - again. it isnt
80% it is far lower AND the problems you
identify are peripheral, not systemic. it is the
 system
  problems and the
  structure that needs revising.

Ridiculous.  80% of Americans like their health
  insurance.  We need to fix
  it for the other 20%.

  1.  Tort reform.  Limit judgment amounts.

  2.  Lower malpractice insurance for doctors.

  3.  allow nurses to dispense and administer
 low-level
  medications.

  4.  Allow longer prescription times.  Right now
  if you're on long-term
prescription such as blood pressure medication, they
  require you to come in
every 5 months.  I'd change that to every 12 months.

5   Lawsuits make doctors over-test so that
  they can't be sued later.

  6.  Allow poorest people to join medicare regardless
  of age.

Hi Michael,

Clinton DID every chick he could. All
 Clinton
  cared
   about was his own
s*x life.

The video posted does not support the
 theory
  that
   Obama had Union
Thugs start or participate in a fight. It
 looked
  like
   it was just an
altercation between two individuals that
 spread
  to
   other guys, some of
whom wore union shirts. Fights are like
 that.

Clinton was indifferent to America. That is

America needs to be completely changed because it
 was
   wholly unacceptable to
The One. Even his wife proclaimed, not once but
 twice,
  that
   she was never
proud of her country in all of her adult life
 until it
  was
   obvious her
husband was whooping Clinton's entitled arse in
 the
   primaries.

All Obama loves is himself; he's a grade A
 narcissist,
  with
   sociopathic
tendencies that will grow more evident as his
 One-ness
  is
   challenged.

America is not supposed to be unequal, it
 has
  just
   evolved in that
direction. The people who benefit from
 inequality
  are
   not what anyone
would call deep thinkers - just the
 opposite.
  They
   typically think that
whatever benefits them, no matter what
 detriment
  to
   others or the whole
society, is right for America or indeed the
  world.

America is founded on equality under the law,
 based
  on
   endowment by our
Creator with certain inalienable rights, not
 equality
  of
   outcomes as
measured by faceless government bureaucrats. You
 seem
  to
   relate to Obama's
clear passion for the latter and hatred of
 America
  for
   those times it did
not live up to its ideals.

So you're secretly pulling for him to be
 successful
   leveling the field
even as you prepare to vote against him next
  go-round.

A curious brand of cognitive dissonance.

80% of Americans are happy with their health care.

Destroying the greatest health care system in the world so
a few more can participate makes absolutely no sense.

Take a look at this Army document (http://bit.ly/juZ1e) that describes
procedures for setting up a Civilian Inmate Labor Program.

Here is the job description for Internment/Resettlement Specialist as posted
on Monster.Com.

As an Internment/Resettlement Specialist for the Army National Guard, you
will ensure the smooth running of military confinement/correctional facility
or detention/internment facility, similar to those duties conducted by
civilian Corrections Officers. This will require you to know proper
procedures and military law; and have the ability to think quickly in
high-stress situations. Specific duties may include assisting with
supervision and management operations; providing facility security;
providing custody, control, supervision, and escort; and counseling
individual prisoners in rehabilitative programs.

By joining this specialty, you will develop the skills that will prepare
you for a rewarding career with law enforcement agencies or in the private
security field.

Hi Michael,

Well, the judge will decide what to do if that is what happened.
However, the connection to Obama is minimal. They probably voted for him
but he has scant connection with those who did.

Saying Obama Goons is a bit of a stretch. Maybe, maybe, the president
