 Hi,

As far as I know, it’s not a problem to install an earlier version of the
OS when a new machine has arrived… At least not the most recent previous
system. It’s available in the App Store. Maybe it’s also possible to
simply restart the machine in recover mode and access the installer for a
 previous system from there?

The issue is that the new Macs are all coming with Mojave preinstalled, so
people buying these systems will just have to be patient while Avid gets
things working correctly. Pro Tools is simply the easiest for Voiceover
users to get their heads around, so it'$ just gonna be a thing for us.
Fortunately, there's no real reason to update to Mojave. It adds no

I'd encourage speaking with Byron about Pro Tools training and would also
probably recommend waiting a bit before learning Flo Tools commands. Learn the
way Pro Tools works out of the box and then supplementing it with Flo Tools
will turbo charge your experience. Apart from that, the specs you mentioned are
on the low side and I'm not sure how much performance you'll get out of it but
it's at least a starting point.

Neither Logic nor Pro Tools uses VST. Pro Tools uses a format known as AAX and
Logic uses a Format known as AU or AudioUnit. Most plug in vendors that make a
VST will have an AAX or AU version of their plug in. Reaper is accessible on
both Mac and windows and will let you use VST’s. On Windows you can use
Samplitude as well.

Re: A feature request for Flotools

2018-12-29 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi Victor,
Not that I necessarily have to apologize for the ignorant comments of others
but sorry you and others have to witness the small-minded comments of Chuck on
the subject of Flo Tools. The fact of the matter is that all but a few blind
Pro Tools users use Flo Tools for obvious reasons. What's more, Avid has
whole-heartedly supported our efforts and we have had overwhelmingly positive
feedback from the community. I personally am not witness to Chuck's clueless
digs against Flo Tools because years ago I created a Mail rule to route his
messages directly to the trash. It's only when others send me private messages
off list to poke fun at him that I'm alerted to his attempts at knocking the
work that we do that I get to roll my eyes along with everybody else. What
Chuck doesn't take into account is that I can easily remove him from this list
and could do so at any moment. If he continues to bash Flo Tools and the
contribution that it has made to make Pro Tools more efficient for blind users,
he'll soon find himself off the email list and whether that happens, despite
being up to me, is also his choice.
Best,
slau

Re: A feature request for Flotools

2018-12-29 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi Victor,
Efficiency is what Flo Tools is all about and it's an idea that's been
discussed once or twice. I think the challenge is that, to do such a thing with
one keystroke is problematic because people want to hear what they want to hear
and nothing else while others want something different and it's quite
difficult, rather Impossible, to satisfy everybody. Of course, Flo Tools does
have commands for saying which tracks are shown, which are hidden and which are
selected in addition to what the current tempo is. Identifying which busses are
being used is perhaps possible but not a guaranteed result if any tracks are
hidden. Naturally, if a track is hidden, one can't possibly know what busses
are being used. Sighted users can spend minutes looking through a session to
figure out what's going on and, as a picture is worth a thousand words, putting
all of this information into a logical sequence would take an enormous amount
of work. That doesn't mean we might not add something in the future. In the
mean time, you can use the Tracks List pop-up button to show only audio tracks,
aux tracks, instrument tracks, etc. and still use Option+Command+w to speak the
names and number of those types of tracks being shown. In the future, we might
have some deeper integration with Pro Tools that will give us access to more
information directly rather than necessarily going through the UI. Too early to
say anything more about that but thanks for the input and we'll always try to
help make the experience more efficient and productive.
Cheers,
Slau
