[Qgis-developer] 2.16 Globe plugin on Mac

2016-09-20 Thread Daven Quinn
Hello,

I just completed a source installation of QGIS 2.16.2 on Mac, using a modified
version of the Homebrew osgeo4mac/qgis–214 formula. I was particularly excited
to try out the new globe plugin. QGIS builds correctly and is usable, but the
globe plugin appears to be totally disabled, and doesn’t show up in the plugin
directory or menu.

I built the formula with globe enabled (the Homebrew —with-globe option
translates to —DWITH_GLOBE=TRUE —DOSG_PLUGIN_PATH=/usr/local/lib/osgPlugins-3.4
compile options. I’m running osg 3.4 and osgearth 2.7. Both of these are built
using homebrew formula, with qt support, and I think they are within the range
of supported dependencies for the globe plugin.

In the “advanced” settings menu, there is a section for globe plugin settings,
but I cannot see any other feedback that the plugin is installed.

Any insights on what might be disabling the globe plugin, and how I could
compile QGIS in order to include this? I’ve successfully used my install of
osgearth to view GIS data described by raw *.earth files, so I think it’s
unlikely to be a dependency issue.
Thanks, Daven___

I'm going to work soon on this GPKG issue. On surface, it looks similar to the
shapefile issue, but technically file locking and sqlite database locking use
different mechanisms so the solutions will be likely different.

[Qgis-developer] Bug with Models in Processing?

2016-09-20 Thread matteo
Hi guys..

I built qgis master2 (ubuntu xenial) and I noticed that it is not
possible to save models of Processing.

When I try to save the model the dialog of the file manager appears but
it freezes and nothing happens.

With old models already saved I can edit them and correctly save them,
so it happens just with new models.

Somebody confirms this issue or is just a problem of my computer?

Thanks

[Qgis-developer] Backport fixes to exiting release

2016-09-20 Thread Arnaud Morvan

Hello,

What is the recommended workflow to fix bugs in exiting releases.

Should I make a pull request on each branch (2.16, master_2 and master) ?
Or is there a precise workflow to backport fixes in existing releases ?

Best regards

FYI, QuickOSM is not creating the "other_tags". There is a special parser
in the plugin to create individual fields.

Unless we have a feature parity with the current openstreetmap tool
(offered through vector -> openstreetmap), please do not drop it. One
useful feature that isn't available through OGR (or QuickOSM last time I
trieD) is the exporting of individual tags as fields (versus only creating
a few fields and an "other_tags" field).

For the UI side of things, I'd also like to see {QuickMapServices,
OpenLayers} updating its code so that - on QGIS >= 2.18 - layers are served
as native TMS support. That'd make pre-existing users of those plugins able
to continue using the same UI as before, while benefiting from Martin's
phenomenal work (raster manipulation support, rotation support, progressive
rendering, etc.).

Hi all,
when adding a newly discovered WMS/WMTS layer from Metasearch, the
GetCapabilities takes a long time and fails. The sme entry, once added,
works fine. Anyone confirms?
BTW, after some usage, I'm still convinced that giving the same default

better solution?

Yeah the WM(T)S dialog could get a lot of love... It is quite
complicated and the user experience is not great.

I am not sure XYZ layers should be even handled within WM(T)S dialog -
there is nothing like GetCapabilities, layer/style/crs selection etc.

XYZ layers would still deserve some kind of configuration GUI - apart
from URL, users should be able to set min/max zoom levels. The current
solution was just a quick way to make XYZ layers available to users...

Ah I see the commit message now:

[Qgis-developer] Resource sharing unusable on Debian

2016-09-20 Thread Paolo Cavallini
Hi all,
in spite of the porting of QtWebKit in our Debian packaging, the new
Resource sharing plugin is still unusable [0]. Could somebody please
have a look to this?
Thanks a lot.

[Qgis-developer] Deprecation of the Vector - OpenStreetMap - Importer

2016-09-20 Thread Andre Joost

Dear all,

This topic pops up regularly on the mailing lists, but nothing happened lately.
The OS import tool is still not able to load features with node numbers exceeding the 32bit-unsigned limit, see http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/64-bit_Identifiers . As a consequence, features get lost, or lines and polygons don't get imported at all, as soon as recently added nodes are involved. This makes the importer quite useless.

Following the discussion here at http://osgeo-org.1560.x6.nabble.com/Suggestion-Remove-Vector-Openstreetmap-tool-from-QGIS-2-12-td5226614.html and on GIS SE http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/211000/is-there-a-qgis-tool-that-handles-osm-64-bit-identifiers-correctly I suggest to drop the 3-part importer from the Vector menu.  Add vector layer and the QuickOSM plugin can import OSM data without the 32-bit limitation.

It would be good to drop the item in the upcoming QGIS 2.18.

Alternatively, somebody would have to change the data type for osm_id in the spatialite export (part 2 of the 3-part-importer) from integer to long integer or text.

Greetings,
Ande Joost

BTW, I think it would be good to expand on this; in general, the project
would gain from a closer relation with OGC, updating constantly our
listing, seeking certification where possible, etc.
I think this would be most suited for commercial firms around QGIS,
rather than for the main project itself - our limited resources could be
better spent in infrastructure, bugfixing, etc.
If some of them is interested, please speak out.
All the best.

Sorry I was too quick (time is never enough). Thanks Martin for clarifying.
