Hello,

I am preparing the QGIS Windows package file (it's a zip file) for
distribution in our organization (we don't use MSI).

I noticed that the folder /share/proj contains TIF files and it weighs 584
MB, are they necessary for the working of the QGIS?

Thank you and have a nice day

Re: [QGIS-Developer] [Qgis-psc] QGIS LTR releases -- is it time to pull the plug?

2021-11-16 Thread Luca Manganelli
> [... ]

As an IT administrator in our public organization, I confess that I have
packaged and distributed to all PCs the (old) 3.16.4 version. Why? Because
with this version there are 0 problems among users and with our customized
plugins.

Before the 3.16 release, the other 3.x versions were a disaster, many
things didn't work, so before this 3.16, I had distributed 2.x to many
users and 3.12 to only few PCs.

In a big organization the most important thing is not, "strangely", the
more features a piece of a software has, but the ... stability. Remember
that every worker wants a product that... works.

And, the upgrade. The QGIS package is big (the archive is over 320MB) and
we have many offices in slw networks (2M ADSL... don't laugh, this is
the situ

[QGIS-Developer] QGIS disables plugin on loading problem

2020-12-02 Thread Luca Manganelli
Hello,

by default behavoiur, QGIS disables plugin when there's a loading problem
with it.

In a corporate environment, we have custom plugins that are loaded for a
shared local network folder. If the network is down and one user loads
QGIS, it disables the plugin loaded from the local network now and in the
future.

Is there any way to disable this behaviour? (QGIS 2 doesn't do it).

I think that due to this thing and the various Linux distributions, it's
time to think to provide an official snap/flatpak/appimage qgis package.

[QGIS-Developer] QGIS for Windows: please don't remove OpenCL.DLL after installation

2020-05-06 Thread Luca Manganelli
Hello,

In my organization we have machines with obsolete OpenCL.DLL in their
\windows\system32 (they have 1.x version, while QGIS needs at least 2.x).

The solution is to restore the OpenCL.dll into %OSGEO_ROOT%\bin from the
QIGS standalone installation package, that is removed by the setup
installer after checking the existence of C:\windows\system32\opencl.dll.

The problem is that with that obsolete version QGIS refuses to start with
this error:

Unable to find the entry point. clCreateCommandQueueWithProperties from
OpenCL.dll library

[QGIS-Developer] Print layout orientation "hidden" feature

2020-04-21 Thread Luca Manganelli
Hello,

see the comments below the answer this question:

https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/274148/setting-print-layout-to-portrait-using-qgis-3

I admit that the option is rather "hidden".

As as user, I tried to:

 1) go to Layout -> Layout Properties and I cannot see the page orientation
options in the Layout Properties;
 2) go to Layout -> Page setting, changed the orientation here but the
layout doesn't change.

In qgis 2, it was more easy and intuitive to set the page orientation

[QGIS-Developer] triggerRepaint()

2020-03-25 Thread Luca Manganelli
Hello,

I discovered that triggerRepaint() is working on:

  QgsMapCanvas.currentLayer()

but NOT in one of the layers in:

  QgsProject.instance().layers()

I use triggerRepaint to force the update in the mapcanvas, after a Postgis
sql INSERT query.

Is there another way to do this?

An idea could be: fixed label placement at every map panning at a fixed
scale.

This could be useful for:

 - WMS map tiling. This label placement would fix all WMS tiling issues in
one place.
 - Need for fixed labels positions, for example for cadastral maps. It is
not important to "see" the entire label, but it is more important to have
it with fixed position

[QGIS-Developer] Can I change the schema of table "public.layer_styles"?

2019-08-08 Thread Luca Manganelli
Hello,

I wonder if there's the option to change the schema of the postgres table
"public.layer_styles" that is used to store the laye styles. For example, I
would like to put it into "main.layer_styles".

When we do backups on the table, we always skip the public schema since it
contains also a table with PostGIS functions. When we restore the backup to
a new Postgres version, it's useful to skip that table.

[QGIS-Developer] WMTS problem on QGIS 3.4 server?

2019-07-25 Thread Luca Manganelli
Hello,

I have configured a project with a WMTS service for an ortophoto. I'm using
QGIS Server 3.4.8 LTR

Two notes:

 - My layer is named "Ortophoto 2015" (with the space), but the WMTS
GetCapabilities replaces the space with _ (Ortophoto_2015), and in the
following GetTile, QGIS Server complains that if you use Ortophoto_2015 in
LAYER, it could not find it (LayerNotFound error), but if you use the space
it's working!

 - I am using EPSG:25832, but If I load the WMTS layer on QGIS Desktop 3.8,
it is always blank.

Any idea?

Re: [QGIS-Developer] QGIS Server 3.4.7 and WFS Filtering PropertyIsLike

Addendum.

I discovered what problem was.

OWSLib generates an URL like this:

http:// WFSHOST .../=nome_viaVIA
A%

but it seems that QGIS Server doesn't like this. We should add
and at start and the end of the FILTER value:

http:// WFSHOST .../=nome_viaVIA
A%

with the last URL, the WFS query works!

I've tried to refresh, but the data remains in the "old" version (before

[QGIS-Developer] QGIS 2.18: unable to copy features with attributes on SHP files

2018-05-17 Thread Luca Manganelli
Hi,

I have a problem that is occurring on QGIS 2.18.x but not on 2.14.x.

From a POSTGIS layer I selected some features, then I exported them to a
SHP files (with Save from Layer submenu). Opening the attribute table I can
see their attributes.

Then on POSTGIS layer I have selected other features, then I copied and
pasted them on SHP file. The result? I see the copied geometries, but QGIS
filled their attributes with NULL values...

It's a known bug?

This project sounds interesting. Some questions:
1) this webgis should run under django system?
2) is it extensible (i.e. can I add custom buttons, actions, etc...)?
3) there's a tile caching system. Does it solve the usual problems with
labels?

On Windows 7 - 64 bit and QGIS 2.18.14/16, opening the first composer
and trying to export to PDF, BAAM, QGIS crashes!

In the composer the map is rotated 270 degrees; but if I set to 269,99
it doesn't crash. Maybe a division by zero issue in code?

an empty map.

Can you help me in fixing the script?

[Qgis-developer] QGIS Server 2.14.2: segmentation fault in project switching

2016-05-16 Thread Luca Manganelli
Hi,

occasionally I have problems with QGIS Server 2.14.0-2 (but not in 2.8.x).

When I switch from a project to another from QGIS Web Client, when it
calls the qgis server (WMS GetProjectSettings) I have a segmentation
fault as you can see in the below GDB backtrace. It seems that it's a
problem in QgsServerProjectParser that didn't exist in 2.8.x.

This problem occurs when I switch from a big project to another, with
inherited layers from other projects.

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

I made a custom virtual field that calls a simple function expression
that returns the string hello, world.

On QGIS Web Client, when I query the feature, the value of that
virtual fields is always set to NULL.

It seems that QGIS Server doesn't evalutate the custom function... it

[Qgis-developer] Installation problems in QGIS 2.8.3 on Windows 7 - 64 bit

2015-08-05 Thread Luca Manganelli
Hi,

I'm encountering installation problems with the LTR version of QGIS.

While QGIS 2.8.2 installed fine, the QGIS 2.8.3 has these problems:

 - the start menu folder QGIS Wien is empty (no icons)

 - the BAT files are not generated after installation: in the
C:\Program Files\qgis\bin there are many templates like:
qgis-ltr.bat.tmpl

Could you check this?

[Qgis-developer] Problem with addAttribute and Postgres default value

2015-04-22 Thread Luca Manganelli
Hi,

I have a spatial table with an attribute that uses the today's date as
a default value.

Prior to 2.8, for me it was sufficient to call initAttributes with the
number of fields and then populate only the needed fields.

Now in 2.8, QGIS fills all the other fields to NULL value, thus
invalidating the constraint (date_now field doesn't accept NULL
value).

Is there any way to let QGIS ignore that field and so Postgis can fill
it with the default value?

Thank you in advance

[Qgis-developer] Qgis Web Client URL rewriting and POST requests

2015-01-27 Thread Luca Manganelli
Hi,

in never qgis web client versions, the requests to QGIS Server are
converted from GET to POST if the URL length is 2048 (as stated in
GlobalOptions.js).

The problem is one and is, for we, big:

if you use the URL rewriting for i.e.

  http:/test/qgiserver/project

(project points to our /opt/projects/project.qgs)

then in the POST GetMap requests, the parameter map is missing and
thus QGIS Server cannot know which map file to open.

Is there any way to fix this?

[Qgis-developer] QGIS web client and dashpos in GetUrlParams.js

2015-01-16 Thread Luca Manganelli
Hi,

this line:

  var dashpos = urlBaseArray[3].indexOf('-')

causes trouble to us. We had to comment it and put:

  var dashpos = -1

because we use this URL to access to our Qgis Web Client (we use URL
rewriting, too):

  http://ourserver/qgis-web-client/general/general/

and with serverAndCGI set to:

  var serverAndCGI=http://ourserver/qgis-web-client/wms;

the original 'dashpos' sets the wmsURI to:

  wmsURI = 'http://ourserver/qgis-web-client/wms/-web-client/general/
 generale_dc=1421403958538SERVICE=WMSVERSION=1.3REQUEST=GetProjectSettings'

the wrong part is: [...]/-web-client/[...] that is taken from dashpos.

With dashpos = -1, it works perfectly.

Can someone explain why is this daspos introduced?

[Qgis-developer] QGIS 2.4 and 2.5: default transparency for select not honored?

When you set the defeult the color for selections and you set the
alpha channel (i.e. to 25%), at next QGIS startup only the color
(without the alpha channel) is taken, until you modify the alpha
channel from the project options window.

To reproduce it:

 1. open qgis with empty project
 2. set the select color with transparency
 3. close qgis
 4. reopen qgis
 5. load some layers
 6. select one geometry: you'll see that the transparency value is
totally ignored
 7. set the transparency from the options
 8. now the selection is transparent

happens on both 2.4 and 2.5
