Looking at the repos, I see new version of packages went up 10 hours
ago. It is possible the QGIS release on qgis.org ubuntugis repo needs to
be rebuilt against these new packages, which usually happens within 24
hours.

The qgis.org packages in the non-nightly repo are built on release and packages
and are not automatically rebuilt when dependencies changed - see the
note on

https://qgis.org/en/site/forusers/alldownloads.html#debian-ubuntu

that also lists a couple of options to deal with this.

Dear Bernd,

The transition of GDAL has been communicated in the UbuntuGIS mailing
list since Nov 7:

https://www.mail-archive.com/ubuntu@lists.osgeo.org/msg01406.html

Also, the hint that the maintenance team (volunteers) is trying to break
QGIS packages on purpose is totally unacceptable.

Hi Angelo,
is there any chance that you could synchronize your efforts a little bit?

It's really strange that shortly after the new QGIS point release, the
dependencies get changed.
If this would happen just once in a while, I wouldn't complain at all.
But this feels more like coordinated chaos ;)

Thanx for your work

Re: [Qgis-user] GRASS support lost (again) on Ubuntu/Mint

2017-09-28 Thread Angelos Tzotsos
We have tried to build everything on experimental ppa before we move the
packages to unstable ppa (and when we move packages to unstable we send
an e-mail to the QGIS packagers to rebuild their repo). Unfortunately
not all UbuntuGIS packagers wait until they publish on unstable, so
things like that might happen.

Best,
Angelos

I can sympathise with OPs as I have been caught many times forgetting
to comment out the repos in sources.list and unexpectedly being
updated to a later qgis version that breaks something :)

In this case, QGIS 2.18.13 worked for just one day, then GRASS got
updated and broke the qgis plugin. If you'd refused the GRASS update,
it would still work. There is nothing that the ubuntugis maintainers
could do for it now.

So lets hope that QGIS 2.18.14  may live longer.

The same applies to GDAl (and maybe PROJ if the planned improvements

As a end-user-friendly solution, it would be great if ubuntugis could
leave a copy of the last build on the server. This could be limited to
the most-critical packages.

This works good in OSGEO4W in case any package causes unwanted
corruption.

Hi Marco,
Your previous statement was "OSGEo Live does not run on 32Bit systems
or VMs".
This statement is false. OSGeo-Live can be installed on a 32bit VM, if
done from the 32bit iso as a starting point.
We just publish a 64bit VM image during the release process since this
image has a higher demand.

That does not mean it cannot be created :)

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS 2.0 on openSUSE 12.3 - Processing Plugin

Hi Mike,

Thank you for your detailed report, we will have a look at this.

On 10/24/2013 04:54 AM, Murkor wrote:

I've installed QGIS 2.0.1-Dufour on a desktop with a relatively new install
of openSUSE 12.3 OS 64bit.

On executing QGIS I got a message box telling me the plugin Processing
could not be loaded from all the directories in the QGIS path.

Opening the plugin manager and choosing the Installed option on the left I
could see 'Processing listed with red text in the list of plugins. There
was also a category for Problems (or something like that - it is gone now
because I applied a fix) where Processing was shown. In either case
highlighting Processing showed the message highlighted in yellow that this
plugin required QSCI.

I shutdown QGIS and started up the YaST Software Manager. I searched for
QSCI. The search returned three (3) pythonscintilla packages and two (2)
libscintilla packages. I installed all packages EXCEPT libscintilla-devel
(libqscintilla2-8, python-qscintilla, python-qscintilla-sip, and
python3-qscintilla).

I restarted QGIS and got the same message telling me Processing could not
be loaded.

Again, opening the plugin manager and choosing the Installed option on the
left I could see 'Processing listed with red text in the list of plugins.
Highlighting Processing showed the message that this plugin required
psycopg2.

I shutdown QGIS and started up the YaST Software Manager. I searched for
psycopg2. The search returned four (4) packages. I installed all four
(4) packages (python-psycopg2, python-psycopg2-doc, python3-psycopg2, and
python3-psycopg2-doc).

I restarted QGIS and no longer received a message regarding Processing.

The Processing menu item now shows up in the menu and I can activate the
Processing Toolbox which I assume is the QGIS 2 evolution of the SEXTANTE
toolbox.

Searching for the solution to this problem I see that it is a reported bug
(Bug #8710 - cmake mises missing Qsci - http://hub.qgis.org/issues/8710) and
the last entry in the History list of this bug report, from Georg
Reutelsterz, mentions the install of the qscintilla package, but not the
installation of the psycopg2 package. It might be the difference between
openSUSE 12.3 and openSUSE 12.1 (the version Georg mentioned).

I hope this note helps other installers/users of QGIS 2 on platforms that
show the error for the the Processing plugin component installation.

Cheers,
Mike

[Qgis-user] LRS plugin

2013-02-14 Thread Angelos Tzotsos

Hi,

Has anyone tested the LRS plugin with PostGIS 2.0?

I have recently created an LRS project in PostGIS 2.0 using only SQL
scripts and I wonder if this is compatible with the plugin I found in QGIS.
I have created the metadata table needed, but selecting the network is
not responsive.

I am going to check for this in the plugin code, but I just wondered if
someone else had this issue.

Re: [Qgis-user] Cannot add sqlite/spatialite layers to qgis (they come in as tables)

Hi Donovan,

Yes, we upgraded spatialite to 4.0 a few days ago.
I will talk with other maintainers on how to solve this issue. Having 2
versions of spatialite will probably make things worse, since many
libraries compile against it. We would need to make a selection I am afraid.
I am wondering if there is a patch solving this issue or if this is
solved in git master.

Any ideas?

I was trying to use the Layer Create option, but I couldn't actually make
a valid layer, I could only use that to create the sqlite database. It
wouldn't let me put any layers into it.

*From the layer menu in QGIS, I can't create a layer in a sqlite db. It
says that my layer is invalid and can't be created. Then I can't even see
this sqlite database (that got created successfully, it's just the layer
that failed creation) when navigating from the add vector window. But I can
see it when trying to load from spatialite_gis but that throws the same
error.

*This is probably because qgis uses the latest spatialite I have installed
to make the new layer in the sqlite db.

I've filed this bug to see if they can consider building a spatialite v3
package in the meantime for RPM based linux distros.

Hi Victor,

The same applies for OTB right?
You use the bandled applications in OTB, not the python wrappings.

FYI I have created an RPM package of sextante for openSUSE users:

I plan to keep this around and update it every week or so until the

go to the official GEO repository yet.

maybe it would be good to write those missing algorithms not in QGIS

algorithms can still be used from QGIS.

Anyway, whatever algorithm you are missing, just add it there and we
will for sure work on it. My idea is to have a comprehensive list of
algorihtms available in SEXTANTE for QGIS, much more complete that the

is easier to extend it.

the QGIS in the GEO: repository is built against Qt 4.7 which ships with
KDE 4.7. KDE 4.8 comes with Qt 4.8. You either have to build QGIS from
source or downgrade to KDE 4.7. That's why I did not upgrade to KDE 4.8...

I use KDE 4.8. I downloaded the srpm and built it myself. Fairly
straightforward. I had to install some additional dependencies for
building and had to comment some lines in the spec file about debugging
information (I guess the spec wants me to generate debugging symbols but
I don't know how and I was to lazy to investigate).

It is now broken with a startup error message as below.

My libpython was 2.7 from the standard repository. This had the same
version as the python repo you suggested.

QGIS is running, but with no python support, my system is fully
updated as far as I can tell.

Any advice/fixes appreciated...

Thanks,

  Brent

Hi,

QGIS 1.7.4 works fine in my machines

You should add this repository in your system:

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/devel:/languages:/python/openSUSE_12.1/

update and try installing qgis again

Angelos

I will check my python version when I get home tonight and see if
that could be it if not, I may rollback to 1.7.2.

I'll follow your forum thread for updates as well.

When I try to run qgis from the terminal, the splash
shows, but as soon as
it gets to the part Starting Python the splash simply
closes.

The output from the terminal is:

Re: [Qgis-user] Re: QGIS 1.7.4 doesn't run in OpenSUSE 12.1

2012-02-28 Thread Angelos Tzotsos

Hi Donovan,

Builds in OBS assume that only the default repositories are used, with
default packages, so updating manually KDE or Qt might cause such problems.

The only solution to use latest software AND have all packages tested
against them is Tumbleweed:

http://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Tumbleweed

So I got it [SOLVED] for my system(s)!

I checked python and the proper version was installed.

The problem was what Sascha had pointed out with my Qt and KDE version.

I then did a fresh install of OpenSUSE 12.1 x64 on my laptop and just
did regular upgrades without upgrading to KDE 4.8.

So therefore, I will NOT UPGRADE to KDE 4.8!

Everything is working fine now. Thanks for pointing this out.
