[qmailtoaster] TAPS ISSUE

2012-05-17 Thread Manikandan Mariappan
Hi,

I had a doubt in taps that four email ids has been created in
server. That one email id is backup id and other three email ids are normal
user ids.

Example : Four email ids are :-

t...@example.com
e...@example.com
inter...@example.com
bac...@example.com

vi /var/qmail/control/taps

t...@example.com:bac...@example.com
e...@example.com:bac...@example.com
inter...@example.com:bac...@example.com

When a mail has been send from t...@example.com to
e...@example.com and put cc as inter...@example.com. I login and check
bac...@example.com email id, send mail and incoming mail only one copy is
delivered. But my questions is two mails should be delivered because two
users should coming inside the mail but only one mail has been triggered in
backup mail id. How it is possible...

Only one mail will be triggered by taps in your example - one per
message. Let me pose a question to you : what do you think should happen
if you send a mail from t...@example.com to t...@example.com ?

Re: [qmailtoaster] TAPS ISSUE

2012-05-17 Thread Tonix (Antonio Nati)
Ideally you shoould find three copies (including sender), but I remeber
TAPS only backups first match it finds in configuration.

Probably, if you change the order of recipients (and use a different
sender), you could check if only first recipient is backuped.

[qmailtoaster] Re: TAPS ISSUE

2012-05-17 Thread Eric Shubert

It sounds to me as though TAPS is matching one sender and one recipient.

Is this a bug, or perhaps a misunderstanding of TAPS behavior? It seems
logical to me that there would be one outbound tap and one incoming tap.

There can of course be only one sender on the outbound side. Why would
someone want multiple copies of the same thing on the incoming tap?

Is the message tagged as ***SPAM*** in the subject? If so, check the
message header to see which spamasssassin rules were applied to the score.

If the message was not tagged, then the client program's spam filter is
at work, and is outside the scope of the QMT server.

Re: [qmailtoaster] Re: TAPS ISSUE

2012-05-17 Thread Tonix (Antonio Nati)

http://www.inter7.com/qmailtap/README.tap

qmail provides the ability to make a copy of each email that flows through
the system.
This is done using the QUEUE_EXTRA code. See qmail FAQ #8.2

The qmail tap patch adds additional functionality:
   1) Specify which email addresses to tap using a regex style control file.
With the
regex function, you can specify full domains or individual email
addresses.

   2) Specify which email address to send the emails to.

   3) Qmail does not need to be restated to when the taps control file is
changed.

The regex match is applied to both the to and from email addresses. So email
sent to or from the addresses will be copied. Matching is case insensitive.
If there are multiple matches, the first match is used.

Regards,

Tonino

Hi Tonino,

Probably below mentioned rule applicable for source mail id's(
t...@example.com) only, not a destination mail id(bac...@example.com) mails.

Only one mail will be triggered

Atmail is nice, but somewaht limited and has some quirks. The Pro
version may be better. RoundCube is very similar and seems to be
faster. I found it more intuitive than Atmail.
