If not, please post here where to get it so someone (hopefully other than Jake) can give it a shot to see if it clashes with any other patches we're using. I did some additional searching around, and unfortunately, I couldn't find anyplace that had *JUST* this patch. It's part of the version 6 and above of John Simpson's qmail mega-patch, as documented at: http://qmail.jms1.net/patches/combined-details.shtml near the bottom of the page. *A self-written patch to add a real FORCE_TLS capability, for those who want a non-SSL server but don't want it to be able to accept mail without STARTTLS happening first. Creating an envrionment variable called FORCE_TLS with a numeric value greater than zero enables this behaviour. I'm not all that much of a C coder, but I might be able to try next week to possibly port this patch into the qmail-toaster SRPM. I scanned the big patch, and it honestly looks like there's only about 5 lines of changes involved with the FORCE_TLS coding. It would take me a lot of work however, and it might be quite easy for one of you who has better coding capability to pick out what's involved to implement this option. If I do get a chance to play with it and make it work, I'll certainly contribute the patch back to the project! Thanks! [qmailtoaster] Forcing TLS on port 587
Hello everyone! We're using a toaster installation for our primary mail server at my company, and over the last few weeks we've been working on configuring everyone's mail clients to use SSL for sending receiving e-mail. Now that we have everyone converted over to use of SSL, we'd like to stop all non-SSL access. For imap and pop3, it was quite simple, I simply disabled the imap4 and pop3 run scripts in /var/qmail/supervise. However, for SMTP, I haven't had much luck yet. We'd like to force the submission port 587 to require TLS and SMTP-Auth before a message is sent out., while leaving SMTP port 25 un-modified. I had read on another qmail site that you could do this by use of a FORCE_TLS=1 variable in the run script, but that did not work, so I suspect that this patch is not in the toaster packages (and running strings against /var/qmail/bin/qmail-smtpd seems to bear that out). Is there any way with the toaster to enforce TLS usage, and reject any mail that's not TLS. We'd like to stick with TLS so we don't have to reconfigure everyone's mail clients for SMTPS, which is deprecated at any rate. Thanks for any help you all can give! Re: [qmailtoaster] Suexec apache2 qmailadmin
I'm using Virtualmin to do web hosting. It creates the httpd.conf as follows using suexec. VirtualHost 192.168.1.2:80 SuexecUserGroup #501 #500 ServerName mydomain.com ServerAlias www.mydomain.com DocumentRoot /home/mydomain/public_html ErrorLog /home/mydomain/logs/error_log CustomLog /home/mydomain/logs/access_log common ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /home/mydomain/cgi-bin/ Directory /home/mydomain/public_html Options Indexes FollowSymLinks ExecCGI allow from all AllowOverride All /Directory Directory /home/mydomain/cgi-bin allow from all /Directory /VirtualHost All scripts must reside in /home/{somedomain}. If I put the scripts in a folder belonging to that domain, only that domain will be able to use it. I would like to be able to run the qmailadmin scripts from all domains but I haven't figured out how to make it work yet with suexec. Eric Shubes wrote: I gotta say, I don't understand the problem here. I have two domains on a toaster. I did try the fix with the run file and it didn't work for me. But I did get it fixed. Once I got bind working for localhost, 127, and x.1.168.192 and with forwarders to my ISP dns servers it is working fine. I just don't understand why I had to have this. I had a previous qmailtoaster install running for a couple of years that worked flawlessly and I never installed bind or djbdns?? Anyways it's working now. Thanks for the help.. Eric Shubes wrote: That's certainly worth a shot, but I'd consider that a remedy instead of a fix. If adding the -H flag improves things, I would think then that reverse DNS is certainly the problem. I believe the -H tells pop3 not to perform reverse dns or something similar. That was the general consensus for sorting out the slow response, and in my case it worked a charm. Try adding the -H to /var/qmail/supervise/pop3/run contents. As ever make a copy before editing. ;-) I hope that helps. Re: [qmailtoaster] Slow pop3 login
http://www.lifewithdjbdns.com/#dnscache It is _only_ a recursive resolver; unlike BIND it never returns authoritative data, and it never returns data that was not retrieved directly from an authoritative nameserver, whose authority it had proven by tracing the chain of NS delegations from its configured roots. BTW is accurate as an introduction, but is not telling you can't forward. Forwarding means being a cache of a cache, and dnscache has this funcionality Seems to me that if dnscache can only return authoritative data by tracing the chain of NS delegations from it's roots, then it can't ever be a cache of a cache. The upstream servers should always return not authoritative and point further upstream or to the roots. If this isn't the behavior that djbdns does, then the documentation is just wrong. Thanks for the link you provided, I will use that next time I think there is a problem relating to DNS and the user claims to be using djbdns. I tired a few times and was unsuccesful in the sorting properly. When i would forward the spam to spam@ it wouldnt actually do anything. [qmailtoaster] autolearn=unavailable
Its seems that whenever i get an email from mud.yahoo.com it comes in as autolearn=unavailable. This is turn never delievers the message. Is there a fix for this, other than turning off the autolearn feature. I see its working, cause i do get alot of autolearn=ham and autolearn=spam, its the unvailable that never get delivered, hecki dont even know where they are going, i cant see them anyway. regards jeremy

The version of SLES was detected incorrect, so I fixed this (SLES 10 should be built like the OSS 10.1 packages). BUILD_RPMS can now be set to with a command line argument if not set correctly. Use --help to see how. It also gives you an hint when it is set incorrectly. You set your CD's base directory as installation source. But: I think many packages for building will not come from the first CD, so I recomment to create a directory and copy all four CD's content to that directory. To your output: /SuSE-10/RPMS is the output-directory where the built packages should be saved to. You can change this now with --targetdir (as explained in help). Default is ~/qmailrpm. The warning, that those directories can not be found appear only before building the first package. Today I have downloaded SLES 10 and tried to install it, but it fails on my x86_64 system, so I could not test the build process on a real SLES system. I hope, you can finally build the packages. You should be able to upgrade those packages only, by rebuilding them then rpm -Uvh to upgrade them. If it fails, it will say why (or what dependency was required), and it can be figured out from there. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
