Idon't think any bed alleviates the need to turn, it depends on the person. It was very comfortable gently turned you if you set it to turn. I had one for a couple of weeks when I came home from the hospital rehab. I have a Luminex Air Flo Mattress which is pretty comfortable. Good luck! Friends, Lindaf Yahoo! Mail MobileTake Yahoo! Mail with you! Check email on your mobile phone.

Re: [QUAD-L] ? Any FEET PROBLEMS?
Depends on what you "mean" by foot problems. It could include a whole host of things! The biggest problem I have had over my 25 yrs (especially the last 15 yrs) is swelling (edema). They'd get to the point of looking like big potatoes ONLY because of gravity from sitting many hours. Just elevating them WHILE *IN* THE CHAIR does not help them. Only by laying flat on my back with them at or above the heart level ... will they go down. They haven't been like potatoes, though, in a long time (5-6 yrs) because I've limited my hours in the chair. What *you* describe, however, sounds like either you've neglected having your aide (or family member) to do range of motion or good strong foot flexes (pushing them completely vertical) DAILY to avoid "drop foot." AND, if in bed, pushing a pillow or wedge up against them so they CAN NOT curl downward or inward. Some wear special sheep-skinbooties while in bed to avoid the foot curl or drop too. A pillow is sufficient for me. If I do not put that pillow there ... I see my feet curling up and dropping down badly .. which also exacerbates my swelling. And ... have you not worn footwear when up in your chair (since you injury) that keeps the feet straight? It sounds like simple neglect by not doing the above. I'd get on top of it TODAY and EVERY DAY from now on unless you want the witchy-poo curled-up look permanently to the point of no return. Take care! Are you a new list member Alley? I've seen great parkas or hooded ponchos maid for those in wheelchairs. I've tried oine one, but never bought one. They look like it would be perfect. I've seen nthem cheaper, but here is one. http://www.accessiblethreads.com/catalog_i.html Greg - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: quad-list@eskimo.com Sent: Friday, July 01, 2005 12:29 PM Subject: [QUAD-L] Rain Coats keeping legs dry Hi All, I keep pretty dry in the rain with a rain jacket, expect my lap. Well, I finally figured out a solution and thought I'd share it with you all. I bought a good $65FULL length rain coat. Then my Mom, or a taylor could do it, cut out the back section from the bottom of the pockets around to the other pocket. This makes the back of the rain coat fall just at my butt, then the rest of the full length part of the coat sits on my lap and down my legs! I also put velcro (or a bottom would work)down at the bottom of the coat so it doesn't blow open. I've also done this to winter coats to keep my legs warm. Have a GREAT 4th of July weekend! Bobbie

I have my PCA bend my leg while stretching foot and Achilles' heel. So far, this has helped considerably. I used to wear the specialty boots which had the hard backing and prevented foot drop.Quadius__Do You Yahoo!?Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

I get the same potato toes you are describing Lori. The only thing that alleviates mine is lying on my back also. Ironically, I went out looking for the really nice sandals about three years ago and found some, only to learn that my toes swelled way too much for me to where without socks. Now I ride around looking like a geek.Quadius (a.k.a. Billy from Tampa)Lori Michaelson [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Depends on what you "mean" by foot problems. It could include a whole host of things! I use the Kensington orbit trackball. And since I'm right-handed I changed the left click over to the right side of the trackball. Jim

I was asking for a memory foam bed but she asked me to look into a SAT mattress which is what Mr. Reeve used and wow what a bed and I she let me pick out the 54x75 which is awesome. I think it takes a bit for folks to understand the DNR. I am my seizures don't require them to do much more than hold my hand. I've had a few AD episodes lately. Wish I knew what was causing them. I know valium and vicodin seem to help, but the vicodin isn't doing much about the pain. john In a message dated 7/3/2005 7:26:44 P.M. [QUAD-L] IMS pile of junk, or are they?
You, my friend, should be a crash engineer for the mobility industry. Before a vehicle, is released for the consumer, it has to pass a HWTSA crash test, just like any vehicle on the market. A halon extinguisher, is better than a good idea. However, it always nice to know where manufacturers decide to place a 20 gallon fuel cell. There was a couple of manufacturers who chose to place the fuel cell directly under the drivers seat, below the floor. Oh, they seem to forget to tell the consumer that, as they are showing the consumer how wonderfully the lid opens and closes.
