2020-05-14 Thread Carlos Alexandre

I created a vtl with the drives but it doesn't appear on the TSM server /dev
does anyone have a tutorial for this configuration?

Re: [quadstor-vtl] Error to add Physical Disk

2020-05-14 Thread Carlos Alexandre
Hi,

Yes! the disk appears but I worry about these size errors since I tried to
include catuchos in the LTO4 type vtl and it was possible to include only 20
and then there was a lack of space messages.

Regards.

Hi,

How is the TSM server connected to the VTL system ? FC or ISCSI ?
On the TSM server please run the following commands
lsscsi >> /tmp/tsm.out
ls -lR /dev/ >> /tmp/tsm.out

Then send us /tmp/tsm.out and maybe also the /var/log/messages file.

Hi,

Maybe those warnings related to /dev/nvme-fabrics caused some confusion.
In the diagnostic logs show that the 20TB disk /dev/sdb has been detected.
Do you not see the disk in the "Physical Storage" GUI page ?

Re: [quadstor-vtl] How configure TSM

2020-05-14 Thread QUADStor VTL Support
You need a reboot after the VTL software install. That is the only way the
VTL fc driver is picked up and replaces the current qla2xxx driver. Please
try a restart and then rescan for devices again on the TSM server side the
VTL device should appear under /dev/

You can use https://www.quadstor.com/vtlnext/fcrescan script on linux to
rescan for FC devices.
Usage on the TSM server as root user
sh fcrescan

What is the device path of the 20 TB disk ? Is it a SCSI device ? If its a

If the disk has any partitions, mounted file systems etc it will be ignored.

Re: [quadstor-vtl] Error to add Physical Disk

2020-05-14 Thread QUADStor VTL Support
Hi,

The warnings you mention are trivial and can be ignored.

The reason you could only create 20 cartridges is because the VTL was
configured with 20 slots. You can change the slot count by

/quadstorvtl/bin/vtconfig -m -v -s

Then restart

For example the following will change the VTL configuration to 100 slots

/quadstorvtl/bin/vtconfig -m -v TS3500_VTL01 -s 100
restart

There is one message which we are looking into
2020-05-14T14:43:14.944256-03:00 vtl kernel: [ 2557.136458]
kmem_cache_destroy vt_mtx_cache: Slab cache still has objects
This indicates one of the slab caches is not freed fully. For now please
restart the server instead of a 'service quadstorvtl restart"

Hi,

A few other points
1. We are not able to trace the model of the QLogic card installed. Can you
post the output of
lspci
or
lspci | grep -i qlogic

2. The QLogic driver loaded is version 10.x which isn't the version of the
QLogic driver we install. We suggest
rpm -e `rpm -qa | grep quadstor-vtl`
rpm -i
https://www.quadstor.com/vtldownloads/quadstor-vtl-ext-3.0.43-sles12.x86_64.rpm
reboot

The package reinstall will install the driver again
