[RBW] FS: Parting out is such sweet sorrow - Cinelli bars and stem

2010-05-03 Thread Dave Faller
My friend is just about done selling off the parts bin in the garage.
He asked if the RBW group would like a shot before he tries his luck
on ebay.

He recently parted out a Specialized Sequoia (lugged steel) from the
80s and wants to sell the Cinelli bars and stem as a set. He is also
very tired of cleaning tape residue, etc., but assures me these are in
very nice condition, despite the munge.

Cinelli mod 66-40 handlebar, 1981 – so there’s no cable grooves.
Campione Del Mundo model. Near flawless.

Cinelli 1A stem. 10cm. Near flawless.

[RBW] Test rode the 48cm Hunq'a

2010-05-03 Thread Ginz
Hello all,

I stopped by to visit Rivendell on Thursday while passing through on
my San Fran vacation. I was lucky enough to take the 48cm gray and red
Hunqapillar for a spin around the parking lot. I'm 5'4 and I'd say my
76cm PBH (barefoot) was about as low as I'd want to be on that bike.
Any smaller and I'd probably have choose the Atlantis. The bullmoose
bars had a great, comfortable, heads-up feel. I'll have to think hard
about whether to replace my techno hardtail with a Hunq'a...

Is anyone planning to use a Hunqapillar for touring? I'm interested to
hear about your setup and plans.

Lots of good advice here, as I expected, thank you. (Seth, I knew you

Joel, I ditched that Maillard freewheel long ago. Not everything was
great about this bike in its out-of-the-box configuration.

I willl keep the 720 and pass it down to my children, who are avid
cyclists. I will store the 720, Xtracycle, and a several others--will
probably select my other (daily driver) Trek, and my Surly LHT to take

[RBW] New Wheel for the Hillborne

2010-05-03 Thread EricP
Finally got around to doing a couple of things - getting a Phil Wood
hub and building my own wheel. Jim Thill at Hiawatha spent a good
chunk of an evening trying to drill into my thick skull how to
properly build a wheel. Might have been slightly less dim than most
days, as the instruction took, and now have a Phil freewheel hub laced
to a Salsa Delgado rim. Even more amazingly the wheel has stayed good
for about 60 miles of riding over the weekend. Including a curb bash
taken at a lot higher speed than planned.

About a week earlier, swapped the crankset out for a Sugino XD found
secondhand. More than a bit scuffed up, but that crank just looks so
right on this bike.

One last observation - the Silver shifters do seem to work alot better
with a seven speed rear than an eight. Was pretty sure that would be
the case, but was nice to have it confirmed.

A couple of photos here - http://tinyurl.com/23f4do3

If you live at all close to Ohio, and have been riding for awhile,
you're probably familiar with the Tour Of the Scioto River Valley
(TOSRV), http://www.tosrv.org.  TOSRV starts and finishes in
Columbus, Oh., and is always on Mothers Day weekend.  This year is the
49th TOSRV and will be held next weekend, the weekend of May 8th
 9th.

I usually ride with a group of riding buddies, and we have a few
Rivendells in the mix.  Usually a couple of Rambouillets, a Romulus,
sometimes a Rivendell or Bleriot, etc.  This year I know of one Sam
Hillborne that'll be joining us as well.  I often see a couple of
other Ramb's (John) and an AHH (Mark?) too.

Just wanted to let any other RBW owners/fans know they're more than
welcome to join us on our ride to and from Portsmouth, Oh.  We leave
from the SW corner of the Statehouse on Saturday morning.  We aim to
gather there about 7:15AM on Saturday and try to leave by 7:30, though
we're often running 15 minutes late. A quick recreational pace gets us
 to Portsmouth before 5PM.

Feel free to join us.  Look for a couple of blue Rambouillets and
 you'll know you've found us.

It sounds like you may value the bike in a way that is hard to put a
dollar value on. $2500 sounds extremely high, even for collectible

I'd say keep a daily rider that you can ride/lock-up without worry and

Yeah that model Trek in original condition would sell anywhere from
$500-$800 in my area. And that would probably be a long waiting
period to find the right buyer. Most vintage buyers are looking for
the great find at a low price to fix up rather than a high priced
model. And then they would most likely want it original. You
probably will get more of your money back by parting it out.

Not too hot, and plenty of orange poppies, purple lupine and yellow
mustard remain from a beautiful flower year.

The bike is splendid. Very, very comfortable; somehow, as with all
Rivendells, the body position is exactly right. Gorgeous, with tan
tape contrasting with the bright dark green paint. (I ordered a black
Barley for it from Peter Jon White, but now I think a tan bag, or the
green Barley, would look better. Oh well.) Wants to descend faster
than I want to descend. Feels perfect when I'm out of the saddle. My
friends that I ride with will be able to admire it from the rear.

I still have to do some tweaking. Riv put on Jack Browns, which are
fine tires but this bike, which is pretty much entirely for climbing
on pavement, will get narrower tires to save weight, and the Jack
Browns will go on some lesser bike. I rode today with toeclips because
I didn't want to get used to clip-in pedals on a new bike on a longish
ride, but Speedplay Frogs will go on it tonight or tomorrow. And the
elderly saddlebag currently on it will be replaced by a spanking new,
appropriately small Barley. But already it's great.

CICS is an inter-disciplinary graduate program at BSU. I knew that a

Nope, I've never ridden the Scioto. I always wanted to back several

I didn't know this was still allowed by any airlines. I used to do it
in the early 80's without the pipe insulation. I could see the
baggage handlers put it in the cargo bay last and all I got were some
minor scratches. Later in the decade these same airlines started
requiring a box.

I miss the days when Amtrak would take an unboxed bike.

[RBW] Replace bottom bracket question

2010-05-03 Thread Joan Oppel
I had my 7 year old bike repainted (actually powder coated). Inside the frame in a few places, there was some surface rust, completely removed as part of the preparation process. The original bottom bracket (Shimano BB 6500), which of course was removed prior to sending the frame away, has some surface rust. Most of it is near the thicker right hand side. The worst is a one inch square patch that I've tried gently to remove but isn't budging. I'm not much of a mechanic and I'm hoping the collective wisdom here can help me with whether or not I should replace the bottom bracket. Thanks much,Joan(Riv content: it's my Waterford, a cousin to my Bleriot.)

[RBW] Re: Taking Bikes on Airplanes: A method I haven't seen before

2010-05-03 Thread doug peterson
Each airline has its own rules about accepting baggage, and rates vary
considerably. For instance, United and Lufthansa have a relationship
and code share routes. A couple of years ago, we chose to fly
Lufthansa because bikes flew free while United charged $300 each way.
Cost of the ticket was the same and it was a code share route, with
UAL providing part of the service and Lufthansa part. Also, policies
may be inconsistent between an airline's web site and reality. We've
found it best to check with a live person at your departure airport,
well in advance of travel, and get confirmation of what will be
expected when you check in. Of course, even that is no guarantee but
it does improve the odds. Speak to a baggage supervisor and keep
notes of who you spoke with and when.

I'd just replace the BB with a new one. They aren't expensive, and
doing it now might mean not having to disassemble the cranks for
another 7 years. It's also an excellent time to put some Frame Saver
or other rustproofing inside the tubes while it's fresh and unbuilt,
might prevent those patches of inner surface rust from recurring..

[RBW] Re: Replace bottom bracket question

2010-05-03 Thread William
I'd continue to use it if the spindle has zero play and turns
smoothly. Rust on the external surface of that body is
inconsequential to use. If you have the tools on hand a bottom
bracket replacement takes under 30 minutes, so I always would use
something that is not broken.

For example...

• Where were they made? By whom?
• How many were made?
• Did colors vary by model year, or was there a stock range? What were
the colors? (I've seen mainly orange and butterscotch in the larger
sizes, but there is quite a range of colors of smaller sizes still on
the riv site.)
• It's not currently in the catalog. When did production stop? Will
they be back? (I heard a rumor of a possible rotation with the A.H.H.?)

• Anyone have a pdf of the original brochure or design brief?

Thank you!

Hey there Rob -

Welcome to the bunch.

I never put together a Saluki-specific page yet -

http://www.cyclofiend.com/rbw

But, there wasn't too much in terms of separate printed material that I came
across. There were definitely announcements in the Reader. It was the first
650B/584 bicycle that they produced. The production was not so much
stopped as rolled into the Hilsen - the 650B/584 version is pretty similar
if not identical. Except for the name and headbadge, of course.

I'm kind of under the gun on a project early this week, but will dig through
the archives later and try to get some more info posted.

RE: [RBW] Saluki History + Provenance

2010-05-03 Thread Frederick, Steve
The Saluki was introduced in late 2003 or early 2004. They were produced by
Toyo in Japan, same as the Rambouillet, and the first batch was offered in
either green or silver. Custom paint options were offered through a painter
local to Rivendell for an upcharge, which accounts for most of the other colors
you see. the Caramel was a custom color I asked for and Grant created for my
Saluki from the first batch, and which he liked well enough to make it the
stock option for future frame runs. (I asked for a Harvest Gold, like some
Riv customs but a richer tone with more brown)

As far as I know, the Saluki was the first production 650b-wheeled frame
offered in the U.S. since a few mountain bikes from Raleigh and Schwinn in the
80's.

They were initially offered with either NOS (reintroduced?) DiaCompe centerpull
brakes or cantis, and when the Tektro super-long reach sidepulls were
introduced, Grant designed a frame to go with them and fitted the smaller
frames with 650b, the larger with 700c. Saluki production was rolled into this
new frame.

• When did the model debut? Was it the first Riv bike designed for 650b?
• Where were they made? By whom?
• How many were made?
• Did colors vary by model year, or was there a stock range? What were the
colors? (I've seen mainly orange and butterscotch in the larger sizes, but
there is quite a range of colors of smaller sizes still on the riv site.)
• It's not currently in the catalog. When did production stop? Will they be
back? (I heard a rumor of a possible rotation with the A.H.H.?)
• Anyone have a pdf of the original brochure or design brief?

Thank you!

Rob in Seattle

[RBW] Re: New Wheel for the Hillborne

2010-05-03 Thread EricP
Thanks for the comments Scott. Was scared off of wheelbuilding many
years ago by a very good, but very cranky mechanic. After getting
back into riding a few years ago, sort of made a promise to myself to
try it at least once.

Might come in handy say, if, maybe, I purchase something like a Bob
Brown 29er that's currently single speed and want to change it to a
1x9 at a future date. (Not that the pruchase will certainly happen,
but it is being seriously contemplated.)

I've built a half dozen or so wheels just using Sheldon Brown's
wheelbuilding page. As long as you're working with a fairly
traditional wheel (no oddball spoke styles or lacing patterns), the
main thing is to get the pattern right and to approach the final stage
gradually and evenly. I find wheelbuilding to be a relaxing way to
spend an evening, and it generally makes me wish i had the excuse to
do it more often.

[RBW] Re: a hh poem

2010-05-03 Thread Marty
Forgive the long-ish post to follow. I wrote this one years ago (or so
it seems) when the stand-alone AHH website was up and there was a $20
credit in the offing. There were a number of good poems crafted for
the site. Not sure what happened to the site or the other poems. I'm
no poet, but was inspired by a beautiful bike and the company behind
it. FWIW, I give you:

The Resurrection of A. Homer Hilsen

There it was, there it sat.
Bars akimbo, tires flat.

Cluster missing, saddle worn.
Dangling hemp-wrap. Dusty. Torn.

Rubbed the down-tube, read the name:
A. Homer Hilsen – of Rivendell fame.

I knelt to worship and wondered why.
Lost, or stolen? Left to die?

Who would leave it? Could I? Could You?
I asked around, nobody knew.

I felt linked like a chain to its ultimate fate,
the local bike shop was open ‘till eight…

They told me the story of a man dressed in wool.
He lived in the country, his glass always half full.

The bike was his passion, his comfort, his dream.
Fittings for Mark’s rack, lugs filled with cream.

But no one had seen him, at least for a while.
The man had moved on. My lips cracked a small smile.

I asked the police what the policy was.
They showed me the poster: Auction by Fuzz.

I showed up quite early, on the day of the deal.
Misty and quiet, the sky painted like steel.

I noticed the Hilsen being eyed by a punk,
mixed in with the lawnmowers, car parts and junk.

He grabbed a brake lever and gave it a tug,
Spat on a pedal, then moved on with a shrug.

The auction moved slowly, through toilets and tools,
Something for everyone: the dealers, the fools.

And then it was up there, wheeled up by a cop.
The pads squealed on the front rim. It came to a stop.

The bidding began with the auctioneers’ pitch:
“A handsome blue bike for the not quite so rich!”

It was me and the punk, and a man I could see
who was standing alone near a lone Redwood tree.

It had to be mine. I just had to win.
To let Homer go home without me was a sin!

The punk shrugged again when three figures were spoke.
Fished through his pockets, confirmed he was broke.

I looked near the tree, heard the faint ping of a bell,
The auctioneer paused, raised the gavel. It fell.

“It’s mine! Can’t believe it!” My grin ear to ear.
I cashed out in seconds, lost a fight with a tear.

I wheeled Hilsen homeward and vowed to be kinder.
Put him up on my work stand and loosened the binder.

I thought about fate, how I won, how I got’m.
Flipped the frame in the stand to examine the bottom.

As soon as the upside was more downside than most,
A small rolled up paper fluttered out from the post:

“I’m happy you own me, the pleasure’s all mine.
That punk would’ve stripped me and sold me for wine.”

“Now we can share them, those days on the road.
Losing all count of the friendships we sowed.”

“You see, I’m attracted to people like you;
People who dream of a journey or two.”

   A.H.H.

I’m sure when I’m older, my legs tired of turning,
I’ll think of this day; of the joy and the yearning.

I’ll pass it along to a like-minded good soul;
dusty and weathered, but ready to roll.

The bike will live on, with new stories to tell;
new owner, new road, and the faint ping of a bell.

As a quick practical primer, I thought Sheldon's essay on the Harris Cyclery
website was very clear and easy to follow. I built a nice set of wheels using
it alone as my guide, with absolutely no other prior knowledge or experience.
And they're still rolling along nicely.

Sorry, I meant that with my 76cm PBH, the 48cm Hunqa was as large a

suspect they'd steer me

[RBW] Re: I registered for the Grizzly Peak Century today

2010-05-03 Thread Jim M.
Good riding with you, Tony!

I only did the 73 mile north loop and was completely knackered at the
end. I think I need one or two more lower gears for that much
climbing. As I was limping in, Tony was leaving for the south loop --
another 40 hilly miles worth of riding -- and he was looking as fresh
as ever. How were the steep bits Tony?

I saw a good number of Riv's: a father on a nice gray/cream Roadeo and
son on an Atlantis with wood fenders; a couple from Oakland, with one
on an Atlantis and the other on an Ur-Riv (Bridgestone, that is); I
saw a couple of Hilsens, including one that went zipping by me on
McEwen Road, a very steep climb. Riv was represented among the
volunteers too, with Rich Lesnik at check-in and an Atlantis owner at
the Island rest stop. Many thanks to the volunteers, who helped make
it a great event.

[RBW] Re: Opinion on Potential Sale of 1985 Trek 720

2010-05-03 Thread j4gitr
I sold my 25 720 this past November. It was in very good condition. I
opted for a 68cm Waterford Adventure Cycle. It took me several months
and some extra effort to close the deal on the 720 I received about
$750. It did not have Phil Hubs and Riv Tubus racks. It was for the
most part original except for Nitto stem. I think you will work to get
$1000 for it, so I would keep it and enjoy it. I liked my 720. It was
just too small for me. I am loving the Waterford and happy that things
worked out well for me. If you enjoy your 720 then keep it and cherish
for its comfort and heritage.

On May 2, 4:38 pm, Bob linthi...@gmail.com wrote:
I realize this post is not Rivendell-related--I hope it's OK.  My
sense is that the group members here might know a few things about
other fine bicycles, and I would appreciate an opinion.

I have a 1985 Trek 720. I have upgraded it over the years:  It has
700c Lesnik-built wheels with Phil Wood hubs, Nitto bar and stem,
Sugino cranks, original derailleurs, Brooks B17, Tubus rear and
Rivendell front racks, the works.  It's a nice bike, pristine in every
 way.

The challenge:  We are moving overseas for several years, and I have
10 bicycles need to lighten up. The 720 is by far the nicest bike I
have, which makes it the least useful to me, in that I won't park this
for the day at the Metro, leave it outside of the grocery store (for
very long), ride it in the rain, etc.  My other old Trek is more
seasoned, less valuable, and gets a heck of a lot more use.

What do you think this bike is worth, ballpark?  I know this is
probably dreaming, but I think it would take at least $2500 for me to
part with her. It seems somehow unfair for this bike to hang in my
 basement for much longer.

I wonder how successful the hillborne has been. It seems like the
couldn't keep them in stock, which is typically a good sign. They've
gotten some recent good press, too. But $1250 for a domestically made
frame is a compelling number.

I hope hillborne sales are doing well and I hope this increases them.

It sounds like there are some 56 and 60's coming in now from Taiwan.
They sell for $1000 and come with BB and seatpost and use sidepulls.

Then after that the SH frame will be made by Waterford and come with a
Taiwan fork. No BB or seatpost and made for canti brakespriced at
$1250.

I am not sure what the 56 and 60's from Waterford by special request
means. I assume all sizes will be orange.

They are more expensive but I find this news exciting.

[RBW] My new AHH and it's maiden shakedown ride.

2010-05-03 Thread jinxed
Lots of toiling on my part.
Lots of help, guidance, and reassurance on RBW's part.
My 59cm A.H.H.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/42027...@n00/sets/72157623986998644/

Some friends of my friend had a trip planned to hit the MTB trails on
the western slopes of Colorado in the town of Fruita, and I got an
extended invite. As it turns out all the original planners scrapped
going due to some ominous weather reports. My buddy and I had no plans
to cancel...and headed up for a weekend of either fun riding, or
snowed in micro beer drinking. Win win right? I'll let the pictures
answer the weather question.

Coincidentally it was the same weekend as the Fruita Fat Tire
Festival. More the merrier yea. I have ridden the trails there on
several occasions, but always on a dedicated suspended MTB. Well I
wanted to give the AHH it's first workout, and my friends bike can
accept 650b or 700c, so he chose to throw on his 700x42 tired wheelset
and we were going to do what we could. That turned out to be
everything.

MTB festival afoot, there were a fantastic amount of full-sus high end
bikes out there. Some really impressive rigs to say the least. Then
there was us. Obviously we got some funny looks and lots of comments,
but never a negative word. I had the best time riding this weekend out
of all my trips. We were moving just as fast if not faster up hill,
and hanging with most on the down side. Big drops and hits not
withstanding.

We rode almost 40 miles in 2 days. 98% of that was technical
singletrack. The AHH was flawless. Not one adjustment, tweak, or
problem. I was very shocked at how well the 700 tires rolled over and
up the rough. My worries about the 59cm frame are gone. Pedal strike
was extremely common with a 10 bb height, and almost bucked me off
once, but adaptation was the answer for that.

Underbiking. Rough riding. Whatever you want to call it...rocks.

[RBW] Grip King/ MKS Lambda pedal spikes

2010-05-03 Thread carnerda...@bellsouth.net
Recent order from RBW included a bag of blunt pedal spikes. Installed
8 per pedal in the manner described on the RBW site, except I did not
have the appropriate vise-grip. Used a slightly over-sized socket
wrench instead. After a short rainy test ride I was well satisfied
with the results except that on inspection later in the evening, 3 of
the spikes were missing, all from the non drive side pedal. I accept
that this was most likely due to user error. My theory is that the
missing spikes were started crooked and when snugged down to the
straight position the shallow threads were stripped.
Nevertheless, it prompted a trip to the local hardware. Their thread
sizing board identified the spikes as 4mm with a 0.7mm thread pitch.
They had the matching plug tap in stock for $3.79 (made in the USA).
Recommended drill bit is a #30 wire gauge bit (3.26mm diam.) for
$2.99. While there I purchased a 100 mm vise grip for $12.99 (made in
Taiwan).
I am passing this information along in case it would save some time
for someone else who may prefer to cut the threads with a tap.

From your description, it appears the surface rust is on the shell of
the bottom bracket. Surface rust here shouldn't be of any concern,
but you can remove it with a wire brush and some elbow grease.

If you're replacing it, be sure to get an Octalink version 1 with a
spindle length of 109.5mm, because that's what the BB-6500 is. The
ISIS bottom brackets or the Octalink version 2 may look similar but
they are not interchangeable. New Octalink version 1 bottom brackets
(includes Dura Ace, Ultegra and 105 models) are getting quite hard to
find now and may be quite expensive if available. eBay has used ones
cheap but the condition may be iffy. If your current one spins fine,
a little surface rust shouldn't deter you from reinstalling and
continuing to enjoy its service.

[RBW] Re: I'll be in Chicago for the next eight days

2010-05-03 Thread RonaTD

What should I not miss in Chicago? Interests: art, architecture,
museums, bike shops/builders, local beer/food, bookstores, interesting
neighborhoods, dive bars, good places to run. I have all next weekend
to do whatever, so I'm looking to fill up those days.

The weather has been pretty good and, if that continues, do an
architectural tour by boat, on the river. The Museum of Contemporary
Art is a good half-day visit if you like modern, otherwise the Art
Institute is a more complete collection (and an interesting building).
I agree the Shedd and the Museum of Science and Industry are
worthwhile. The view from the Hancock Observatory at sunset is
amazing. You can run for quite a ways along the lake. With the weather
getting nice, that's likely to be crowded. Grant Park has many
interesting things to see. Lincoln Park is very nice, especially the
conservatory.

Of course, if you really want an interesting trip, hop on the Amtrak
Hiawatha and come on up to Milwaukee. Unfortunately, I'm leaving town
in a couple of days so won't be able to host you.

Waterford is a relatively easy drive (around an hour and a half, maybe
a bit more) from Chicago. If you can get there, it's worth a visit,
but unfortunately it's not accessible by train. If you were to bring a
bike, it would be a pretty easy combo train/bike trip.

2010-05-03 Thread carnerda...@bellsouth.net
I used a 7/64 bit (half way between the 3/32 and 1/8 recommended by
RBW. The spikes that stayed in are tight. I have checked and think I
would have a difficult time removing them to re-thread. I really think
my mistake was not getting them started straight. Two that fell out
were in the extreme outboard holes where I had a previous pedal strike
on pavement that had deformed the lip and probably pretty much
guaranteed that I would start them crooked.
I am not suggesting that secure installation requires tapping. Just
another option. A little more complicated, but not that expensive if
you leave out the new vice grip.

Re: [RBW] Re: I'll be in Chicago for the next eight days

2010-05-03 Thread Dave Lloyd
Check out if the Museum of Science and Industry has a reciprocal arrangement
with any museums in your area. I know that they do with the STL Science
Center (my town), which with the discount on tickets just about pays for a
one year membership at the STL Science Center.

If you want to check out tall buildings, the Hancock center is better than
the Sears tower. Plus, you can get in for free-ish. Go for the cocktail
lounge on the 94th floor. While standing in line, duck out to go to the
bathroom. Floor to ceiling windows in the bathroom and no admission fee.

It's been ages since I've been up there as a tourist, so I've forgotten all
the cool things to do. What part of town are you staying in?

Interesting. I kind of like it, even though I didn't expect to.

Do I see a palimpsest of a third set of stays between the dropout and
the back of the 2tt?

2010-05-03 Thread JoelMatthews
Weekdays around 10:00 to 3:00 or so, the lake front trail is not so
crowded. No better urban place to run than the lake front when not
crowded.

Check out: http://caf.architecture.org/Page.aspx?pid=183 for
architecture tours.

Green Zebra is one of the best vegetarian restaurants going. If you
go to the Museum of Science and Industry, the Seminary Co-Op Bookstore
is only a few blocks away. Among the best book stores for scholarly
tomes anywhere: http://www.semcoop.com/ (it is in a University of
Chicago building, after all - although not affiliated with the UofC)

Boulevard Bike is great. Owner Kevin is a great guy. Loves bike and
knows a lot. His employees have all been around for a while.

Intelligentsia coffee has two outlets downtown - Randolph and Michigan
(across from millenium park) and Jackson and Dearborn (in the
marvelous Monadnock building - 100 year old but as cool and modern as
anything made this century)

And, if you want to hang/get a beer, let me know OFF LIST.

 Thanks for any tips!

Glad I have my Bombadil... gladder now! I liked the concept better when it
was like a Yves or Betty with a top tube with a long diagonal. Now, it just
seems to me the front triangle is split and doesn't quite flow with the rear
triangle...

Anyway, I'm glad it won't be confused with a Bombadil... :-)

Will wait to see what the final bikes look like. I once thought Rivendell
bikes were ugly and look at me now... like we say in Venezuela... ¡Nunca

[RBW] Schwin Le Tour Mixte Project Finished! kinda.

2010-05-03 Thread manueljohnacosta
A couple of weeks ago I had a issue with the brakes on this pink
mixte. Going from 27 tires to 650b tires made the brake pads a hair
short of reaching the rim. Thanks to the wisdom and no how of the
group I was able to file it down and make the brake pads fit. Also
thanks to Cycles of Change I was able to find the long straddle cable
for the rear brake. Presented the bike to my girlfriend and she likes
it. She wants to put a hello kitty sticker on it, I want to put
Resurrectio Decals. But for now the bike is semi done. Just needs a
front basket and maybe a rear rack. Thanks for everyone for the great
advice!
