Re: [RBW] Re: my sp dynamo hub is unreliable
I get a gentle hand massage at 18mph + with my sondeluxewidebody. At first I worried about it. But it has proven to be no issue and doesnt bother me at all. It is very slight. If you are talking to someone or thinking hard you may not notice it. I usually notice it when it starts but then don't after a few seconds. Its like a built in indicator that I am approaching 20mph. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Re: [RBW] Re: my sp dynamo hub is unreliable
I've got two SP dynamo hubs in near daily use, and they've been flawless. I can't even feel when the light switches on, but I sure can see it! They've got an estimated 2k+ miles between them and are paired with edelux 2 lights and b top light tail lights. My experience with the Shimano was opposite. I could feel a vibration through the handle bars when the light switched on, and thenow the hub crapped out in under 250 miles. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Great to hear! Yep, if you crimp the wire too tight, it cuts of the flow of electrons. ;) Just kidding of course. ok. i checked the wires and it looks like i was crimping the wire to the tail light somehow. when i unbundled the excess wire to the taillight, the system fires up immediately. i made a bigger loop and that has solved my problem.!! thanks guys! joe kelly On Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 8:58:34 PM UTC-4, joe kelly wrote: > > when i use the quickbeam with the sp dynamo hub, the hub malfunctions and > produces power for the lights. about two thirds of the time this happens. i > only ride about once a month. have any of you had similar disappointment > with this hub? i am using all riv bought parts. eyc headlight and toplight > taillight. > thanks > joe kelly > columbus ohio > -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Re: [RBW] Re: my sp dynamo hub is unreliable
I have a PD-8, and it has worked flawlessly. I also have a couple different Shimano dynamos that work great as well. Have you checked the wire for missing insulation, which could cause a short? I ask because I had a malfunction recently on another of my bikes (my Schwinn KOM, with a Shimano DH-T780 hub and B Cyo Premium). My light wouldn't turn on, no matter the switch position. However, I did notice it flashed on when I shifted the front derailleur!? Turns out, when I changed the FD cable, I accidentally ran it atop the wire to my taillight. The cable rubbed through the insulation and caused the lighting system to short against the steel frame. Easily fixed, thankfully. I've also had the wires pull themselves out of the plug that connects to the dynamo. Check your wires and connections thoroughly. My SP hub has been in near daily use in rain, snow, sun, dust, for a year now with flawless performance. Perhaps your wire contacts are imperfect? i should mention, when it does work, the lights are bright and are functioning as they should; they work great! thanks again joe On Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 8:58:34 PM UTC-4, joe kelly wrote: > > when i use the quickbeam with the sp dynamo hub, the hub malfunctions and > produces power for the lights. about two thirds of the time this happens. i > only ride about once a month. have any of you had similar disappointment > with this hub? i am using all riv bought parts. eyc headlight and toplight > taillight. > thanks > joe kelly > columbus ohio > -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
