Re: [Repeater-Builder] MTR 2000 Repeater Intermod

2005-12-04 Thread Eric Lemmon
Jim,

This IS interesting! Just for grins, try disconnecting the external controller
and set up the MTR2000 as a repeater. It's very important to set the activation
and hold-in options to "carrier and PL/DPL" as I mentioned in an earlier
posting. I suspect that the external controller is bypassing the audio during
hang time, and allowing the rogue signal to enter. If the symptom goes away
when the MTR2000 is operating autonomously, the problem lies in the external
controller or possibly the way it is connected.

Another thing to try is to set the TX Idle frequency away from the TX
frequency. Try setting it to 144. MHz.

[Repeater-Builder] MTR 2000 Repeater Intermod

2005-12-04 Thread Jim, K8COP
Eric,

I forgot to include that the station is used in the "base station
configuration". I have a CAT300DX hooked up to the station. I checked the
code plug information, and changed the setting to PL & DPL only. It was set
to carrier and PL & DPL.

I am having the same problem with the signal coming in.

Re: [Repeater-Builder] MTR 2000 Repeater Intermod

2005-11-25 Thread Eric Lemmon
Jim,

I'm quite familiar with the MTR2000, and have five of them in service.

Since the rogue signal is received during the hang time, it must have a 94.8 Hz
PL tone on it. Unless... are you certain that your repeater was not left in
carrier squelch during testing?

Another possible cause is an incorrect repeater set-up. Read the station's
codeplug. Then,

1. Click on "Personality" in the toolbar
2. Click on "Channel Information" in the drop-down menu
3. Click on "Repeater" in the Option window
4. Select "Carrier & PL/DPL" for BOTH Analog Activation and Analog Hold-in
5. Select "Off" for Analog Deactivation

If the above steps do not alter the symptoms, please send me your *.pcf file for
examination.

[Repeater-Builder] MTR 2000 Repeater Intermod

2005-11-25 Thread Jim, K8COP
Were experecing a problem with our new Motorola MTR 2000 Repeater. The
repeater is on 146.22/82. PL of 94.8 Hz. When a station is using the
repeater, and just when they unkey, we end up with a signal that is on
155.490 (PL 107.2) comes through the receiver. The 155.490 frequency is
used by our local Law Enforcment Dispatch. This does not happen every time,
but intermittent.
Their repeater is also a Motorola MTR 2000. The repeaters are about 4 to
five miles apart. The Ham repeater has been totally checked out. It has a
new duplexer, intercabling, 7/8 hardline. The 6 db gain stationmaster
antenna was not replaced. The SWR was checked and is OK.

I am open for ideas on this one.
