Kevin and all

I will check further into this issue
rest assured. And will report back with what I find, even if that indicates I
was in error. (Which, given the amount of replies Ive had, is quite
likely) I want to find the chassis I looked at before and also query my
source regarding his information.

I like to know what Im talking

So actually, I do have reason to run off, as you put it. J Call it self-imposed. Reason:
Issues like this tend to discredit any future information I may have to offer,
simply because others will remember this instance.

Again my apologies to everyone on the
list. I will verify any information I post before doing do in the future, or
at least attempt to qualify it better.

Sometimes you have to go digging.

I guess I'm confused - I'm using a VHF MICOR mobile receiver (converted to 2-Meters) which is installed in a Spectra-Tac receiver chassis. I didn't see anything strange about the receiver when I installed it.

I also used a UHF MICOR mobile receiver in another Spectra-Tac receiver chassisin a GE MASTR-Pro UHF Repeater (since I already had the MICOR receiver channel element crystalled up for the frequency I wanted.) Nothing unusual about either receiver that I noticed. Ialso had a 10-Meter MICOR receiver installed in a Spectra-Tac receiver chassis some years ago.

The UHF preselector mounts to the circuit board and looks
like a aluminum block.
The VHF mounts differently and is a longer, thinner rectangle.
Both do the same function in the circuitry, they just look
different - probably different design teams. On the other
tentacle, the VHF and UHF preselectors in the
Motrac / Motran line looked almost the same - you had to
look at the stamped part number to be sure:
TLD=high band, TLE=UHF

I have never seen a VHF or UHF Micor receiver without the helical
preselector attached directly to the board. In the case of the VHF, the
RF-I-F board becomes very mechanically unstable without the attachment
of the casting. If you have seen otherwise, I'd like to see a picture

Any Micor receiver will work in the Spectra TAC receiver chassis,
