My initial guess is that www.xyz.org is responding with a redirect to
either a different site, or simply a different file name. RDCatch uses
wget so it makes sense that you are seeing the same issue there.

Why it works differently between MacOS and Linux remains a mystery. Can
you post the output of wget --version from both operating systems? Also,
check the contents of /etc/wgetrc and any other dot-files (e.g.,
$HOME/.wgetrc).

I think there might be another element to this bug besides just aesthetics.

If a cut has a data range enabled and you then also make it evergreen, it
will not be a valid cut. The evergreen does not appear to overrule the date
range.

Can anyone else confirm this?

[RDD] Suggestion for future versions?

2018-02-02 Thread Tom Van Gorkom
The other day one of our guys was recording an hour long interview show
with a guest directly into a Rivendell cart because he can use the system
resources such as entrance and exit beds to make any post editing quick and
easy as if he is live on the air. I realize that he could record into
Audition or another program but this has worked well until yesterday: The
Program Director was looking for an empty cut that another staff mentioned
to her, saw the cut being recorded (red with 0.00 time), thought that was
it, and deleted it. When the producer closed the cart, it disappeared.

IS there a way on a shared client network so that when someone is recording
or importing a cut, no one else on the network can edit it (as in erase)?

Is there any place to recover such a file if this happens?

Thanks,

Mircea, I put the pull request on GitHub to allow the filename to contain

I created an issue for millisecond/second problem to get some feedback:

Hopefully we will get some feedback.

Most likely because "what you think it should do" is based entirely on
your familiarity with OS X, and not so much on the other variants.

I'll not argue one is right and one is wrong, because they are
just different. Such is the nature of ported stuff.
Apple changed some things when they adapted it from Linux.

[RDD] Why is it so?

2018-02-02 Thread Bill Putney

Why is it that;

wget --post-data 'user=_/username/_=_/password/_'
http://www.xyz.org/downloads/Current.mp3

does exactly what you think it should do in OS X but gets an error
message back from the web server and stores it in WCL_Current.mp3
instead of the audio when executed in a Rivendell (Broadcast Appliance)
terminal

window?

Using the Firefox browser on the same Rivendell machine and filling in
the username and password in the pop-up then right-click and save always
works.

It seems to be the same kind of broken that happens with RDCatch with
this same download. Then when RDCatch tries to import it into a cart it
complains about it not being a valid audio file . Trying to work
around broken RDCatch but maybe it's not RDCatch but a system call
that's broken.
