Re: SD> rough starting
If this happens a few minutes after shutting it off, I'd guess a headgasket or leaky injector. If this happens after the car has been off for a while, I'd guess the injector. If it were the regulator, the car would usually take some time to start while it built up pressure again. One thing you can check right after the car has been shut off is this. Pull the vacuum hose off the regulator and see if there is fuel in it. If so, it's bad. Bob Doherty http://amoparx.net/mnsdacpic/mnsdac.htm Coon Rapids, MN. Re: SD> rough starting
Another option is to take the fuel rail loose with the injectors still attached to the rail and check for leaks that way. Just make sure you disconnect the battery while pulling it, and that you reconnect the ground strap and the ground connection from the harness to ground BEFORE you hook the battery back up and try it. Otherwise the LM could fry. [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > > In a message dated 7/22/08 8:32:53 A.M. Re: SD> rough starting
I would check the fuel pressure to test it. Usually the check valve in the fuel pump will keep the pressure held... If it drop quickly though after turning the car off, it is either a leaky injector or a bad check valve. [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > > In a message dated 7/22/08 8:32:53 A.M. Off the top of my head, I'd say it could be a gummed up throttle body or AIS passage. It could also be a leaky injector, a sensor that is slow to respond, etc. Stefan -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, July 22, 2008 7:35 AM To: shelbydodge@imagilist.com Subject: SD> rough starting Hi All My 87 Shelby lancer has this problem when starting it fires right up but idles rough till I rev the gas petal or start to drive off and give it gas.
