Re: slowing down particles

2017-02-23 Thread Kris Rivel
Thanks guys...I was able to get it to work using a multiply by scalar on
particle velocity at the end of the tree. Problem was I was using the "em
turbulize" node/plugin and that wasn't playing nice with the velocity set
so I just made my own noise. Works good enough for now!

Excuse my post... I have not used XSI in over a year now. But I *think* you
could plot the particles with a "shape" plot? Then adjust the speed once
you bring it back in as a animation clip.

I had to do this to slow down a syflex simulation. Should work the same for

If you plug in into the last ICE port just before the Simulate Particles node

Re: houdini 16

2017-02-23 Thread Jonathan Moore
For non deforming geometry the new boolean tools are ace. Just be sure you
don't have them set as "Render Polygons as Subdivision' in Mantra or
similar in Redshift. You'll end up with a garbled mess if you do!

It seems an obvious thing to say but years of doing things the SubD way can
makes you forget that NGon's and triangles are fine, you just have to work
with them differently.

Also you can visualize time dependency, it will make the nodes glow a very
visible green, it's very useful to optimize your networks.

2017-02-23 Thread Dan Yargici
Quick tip, Jason.

You can middle click on any node in SOPs and at the bottom it will tell you
if it's a time dependent cook or not. If it's not, the result is cached
and the branch is only reevaluated on a change upstream.
